Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Making some money now.

Our first three units didn't do much for us, they came up a little less than even.  The few furniture items did OK, but clothes and kitchen stuff aren't going for much if at all around here.

Then we got a unit full of tools.  It had several power tools visible and some big locked cases.  Everything we opened had more power tools in it.  Even though we paid to much for it ($675) we sold the stuff for about a thousand over about three weeks.

Yesterday we bought two units, one for $150 that will easily double or triple - sports stuff, toys, barbeque, tools.  That one we even sold stuff on site to other bidders.  The other was $575 and is basically someones whole life.  Furniture, tools, electronics, golf clubs, exercise equipment, leather jackets and we still don't know what else.

It's nice to be making money on units despite the high prices.  Hope we can keep it up.

Those whole family units are sad, yet money makers at the same time.  I just got my whole life unit this month(see my thread in the treasures section).

I easily have about $2K in merchandise in that unit.

So, this is the reason I double check every box.  This unit is quickly turning into the Michigan version of Movieman's gun locker.

Going to get these appraised Thursday or Friday.

I'm thinking the bigger one might be about a $600 ring and the smaller one maybe $150.  Odd thing on the small one is it has no 14K stamp on it because it looks to have been cut off of someone's finger.

6. The buyer acknowledges in certain circumstances XXX XXXX Storage may contact the buyer and request that certain items be purchased back in order to prevent any court action with said tenant, the buyer also agrees to sell to XXX XXXX Storage such items for (a) the cost at which buyer purchased such items plus (b) any reasonable actual costs incurred by buyer in connection with such items.

IMO to me this reads sell the personal crap to the owner to cya the storage companies  and make some cash on crap you can't resell.  Anything beyond that is bullspit and I'd never bid at a place like that again. I'd also would bag all valuables before loading in a truck and I'd lie like hell if the previous owner asked about an item of value. If it was small I'd say it wasn't in there, and tell the owner it was mostly likely lost in the move, fragile say it was broken in the move and electronics aren't working due too extremem heat or cold.

Was told by our Thrift store contact she could not sell infant clothing out of her store but it could be sold at a yard sale. Go figure  We have decided to avoid cribs and car seats, really would not like the liability and it seems that a responsible parent would not purchase those things from a yard sale. IOO

There is always somecheap arse who will go all Wal-Mart cheap and buy it if it looks halfway decent. Remember car seats aren't cheap but the parents sure can be.

Sounds like you need to contact eBay and tell them you don't appreciate being told you must take a $7 loss on shipping items in that container. IMO caps for shipping are bullspit when paypal tangles up your cash with holds unless you use a tracking #.

You might want to contact customer service.I went through the same thing selling designer clothes a few years back. They had to verify my history and some other things. After about three weeks I was good to go.

I have an arse load of jeans, I hope they don't pull this crap on me.

Then again these jeans are used and I'm going to be doing jeans in lot sales of like 5 so will see. I have like 100 pairs I need to sell, but fortunately they are same sizes and brands. Chams, Panyc, 3%, Paco's, Ecko Unlimited, etc. All with what I like to call arse artwork on the back pockets.

Thought a law passed that all infant furiture had to be inspected for re-sale due to safety issues? Any one selling infant furniture without inspection is held liable for any acciendient to an infant. I could be wrong

You might be right, but Craigslist doesn't ask so I doubt that that law is followed to the T.

Score and no score tday!

Score was the fact that a coldstone creamery card had it's 10 bucks still on it and the Sirius XM gift card was legit, non score on a 50 buck rebate card and the gas station card was el busto!

Oh well, guess with what I have will be good until next month(assuming PS sucks this month) when this site holds it's next auction

I know SS# snooping and credit card snooping are no no's but what about gas station reward points?  These people left a Speedway rewards tag in the unit.  Do I go and try to redeem the points or not?  To be clear the card holds no actual credit card or personal info, just points that can be redeemed for gift cards, gas cards and the like.

No dump runs yet.  I kind of luck out.  This lady had 4 cell phones still in the box and i sold those on ebay at an AVG $35 per phone.  She was native american and had a ton of Native american jewelry and infant handmade moccasins, sold all that stuff on ebay too.  Looks like i'm getting my money back on this unit.

There was a lot of **** too.

I found one bong and five pipes.  This chick liked to get her smoke on.

She leave you any cabbage?

I've done some checking and it seems that depending on the category an item is being listed in, the limits can be tight, loose, or non-existent. The health and beauty category seems to be the tightest one, and of course that where I'm trying to list the most. :(

Weird! Guess they dont want anyone competing with the cheap **** from China in this category.
