Continue doing what I'm doing on a much larger scale. Of course, I'd get the obligatory house(s) and a bunch of ho's..

I get what you're saying. It's difficult to buy low and sell low and sustain it.

I suppose. But I'm always running into home and garden stuff at yard sales, estate sales, auctions, etc. If I owned a used tool store, I'd have access to plenty of inventory!

Seems like there's a used store for just about anything. Tires, furniture, toys.. but not tools. Why is that? Admittedly, I know next to nothing about tools. I just figured out about a week ago that you can adjust standard pliers by moving the handle... and up until then I was calling that a wrench.

But we come across tools ALL THE TIME in lockers, why are there no used tool stores? I know you can pick 'em up in pawn stores, but that's a different animal altogether. Are we missing an opportunity to undercut the likes of Home Depot and Lowe's in our respective markets?

eBay / Re: More Blown Away By Terapeak Everytime I Use It

In screenshot 3, it says "louis vuittons handbags"... a possessive pronoun.. like people are searching for his personal handbags.

It definitely is a cool tool! I just don't know that I'll ever be at the level of sales to justify the cost.

eBay / Re: Is EBAY super slow lately or is it just me?

Ebay has been busy for me this month. But I've been putting up a lot of Christmas stuff. Collectible ornaments, vintage stuff.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Do vintage electronics sell for you ?

Just bought a locker and found an old Betamax player. I had to throw it away because it's all dented on top. The cartridge receiver was busted in. While researching it, I learned that the model I had goes for like $150! I was shocked because of the lack of titles available for Betamax. I had to throw mine away because of the repairs needed, but wow!

I bought a locker yesterday, off SB. 10x20. Tons of books, back issues of National Geographic, woodworking tools, antique tools, hardware like Baldwin Locksets, deadbolts, interior door sets. All Baldwin.. A couple of dressers, can't tell the age from where they sit now. A vintage folding bike made in Italy and a Hammond organ. Paid $200.

Yes and no. Depends on the brand and what it is. Vintage speakers, not really. Record players are on fire! Anything hi-fi with a silver face sells like hotcakes too.

What I've inferred based on others bidding is that they only pay attention to the lockers they're interested in. Good for me, bad for them. I watch every locker expiring that day. I treat it like poker. I learn bidding techniques, styles of lockers that people like to bid on, etc. I bid on almost every locker, I usually only pick up the one that I like the most. But I give the impression that I'm a player on every one. Once that got me in trouble and I ended up with 4. HA!

This is true, but I like to keep a constant update on the locker up until it ends. When I first started with online bidding, I wouldn't refresh and put in a bid which I thought was good, but turns out the unit already surpassed that number because I didn't refresh. I was willing to go higher, but it was too late.

Many of us buy lockers online using websites like StorageBattles and Virtual Storage Auctions.. I'd like to start a tip thread using these forms of storage auctions..

I'll start the contribution...

Get an auto refresh program! I downloaded a Chrome add on that will automatically refresh that tab every minute, 30 seconds, 10 seconds, even 5 seconds!

I use this set at 1 minute when I'm 15 minutes out. As it gets closer I creep up the refresh rate. When I'm within a minute, I refresh every 10 seconds. This way I know which bids are coming in..

I call the company and see if it's locked. If not, up on amazon it goes! Otherwise, to the scrap yard it goes!

I had to research it again myself. According to Wikipedia: Dotson is co-creator of and chief advisor to Storage Treasures.

Perhaps Storage Battles and Storage Treasures are merging. That would explain why Storage Treasures endorsed Storage Battles and then a month later announced they were getting into virtual storage auctions.

So he's an advisor, not involved with ownership. Sounds to me like Dan didn't want to get into online auctions?
