38 Lockers for sale at a facility that hadn't had a sale in years.  Short story for now because I'm headed out to start loading.......ten people show up......most expensive locker goes for $210!  I ended up buying 12......couldn't pass them up with what I was seeing and the prices.......$678.00 for 12 lockers.......barely even got to look in them yet but already found a sterling silver flute worth at least $300! 

Update in the next couple days, I will be busy!  Let the fun begin!!

I take a lot of what I call "educated gambles"....and most of the time they do pay off.  I have lost a couple of times, but I have won big way more often.  If I am reasonably sure I can make a good profit on something, I will try to buy it no matter what it is, as long as I feel the price is right. 

What would we do without Craigslist?

I remember the "old days", when we had to run an ad in the newspaper or the little nickel, and then technology advanced and I could fax in ads to the buy and sell....just write out the ad on a form they had and FAX them in...that was awesome and it was free!

Boy, those were the days!    My grandpa used to tell me all the time, "the only good thing about the good old days is that they are gone"!

Alright serious advice for those who read on: Ready (looks right, looks left)

Biggest piece of advice.........Keep your day job!

The only problem with a  lock like that is that most of the break ins that have occurred around here, the thieves have actually cut the hasp and not the padlock on a number of the lockers...so even if you have a great lock, it's not going to keep out a good thief.

Public Storage also pushes their cylinder locks and wants you to buy them when you rent at their properties that have them.  They tout how "secure" they are.  It takes less than a minute with a 1/4" bit and a cordless drill to be through one of those....I've drilled a few...for legitimate purposes of course, and they don't inspire confidence!

This one is easy!  I bought a 10x30 locker at one of my favorite facilities back before the shows started.  Paid $300 for it.  It was a great locker over all, but easily the worst clean out I have ever had. 

This was at an older facility and the ceilings were really tall and had open rafters and the stuff was stacked up clear into the rafters......probably 13' or so up, and it was stuffed.  Lot of good stuff in it, but it was kind of weird because the tenant had stored a bunch of food in there......and it had been infested with rats! 

I would grab one box, and it would be perfect, but then I would grab another box and it would be full of rat poop and chewed up items.  But what was gross was I would reach up to pull down a box, and tons of rat crap was falling on my head.  Box after box and the crap was all over.....I kept thinking of the hantavirus as I was pulling boxes down.

It was wild, i found ketchup bottles that rats had chewed through the plastic and eaten all the ketchup out of.  All kinds of stuff was chewed up and of course rat urine on stuff.  I have never seen so much rat crap anywhere, and I found a couple of petrified dead rats too.   

There were two other memorable items too.  I had already made a trip to the dump, and the facility manager came by and told me that the lady had left her baby son in the locker, and couldn't remember where she put him and she wanted him back.   I was sweating it and hoping I hadn't already thrown him away by accident.  I finally did find him, the cremains of a six month old baby.....why in the hell would she keep him in there?

The other memorable item I found is actually a little more common, but was pretty funny.  I found a sock with something in it.  I had visions of jewelry and treasure dancing in my head.  I carefully dumped it on to a makeshift table I had set up and out pops a *****.......lol....so much for treasure!

It was a disgusting clean out and I took two decent sized loads to the dump, but, that locker had the second largest amount of real gold and silver jewelry I have ever pulled out of a locker and lots of high end clothes and nice furniture that the rats didn't ruin, so it was worth it in the end

Picked up two lockers today!  Medium sized crowd but prices were good overall.  I ended up with two lockers...5x10 and a 10x20 for a total out the door of $205.00!

Locker one (5x10) had an almost new (manufacture date of 12/2011) memory foam mattress and box spring, frame, dresser and matching end table, a small desk, and some sleeping bags and a Nautica comforter.  Not bad for 27 bucks!

Locker two (10x20) I have only gone through a little bit of, but it had a nice looking queen bed with frame and headboard, wardrobe, nice buffet that I should be able to get at least $300 out of, an antique secretary desk, a spot bot, some boxes of stuff I haven't looked at yet, and a bunch of other furniture.....it should be a very profitable couple of lockers.
