Picker's Paradise / Advance purchase of an entire yard sale
« on: September 18, 2013, 02:43:53 PM »
Today, I Went to a "yard sale" with my wife of one of her friends.

The sale is this Friday and Saturday. When we got there I asked her friend what she would take for everything?

She quoted me 3$50
My wife had picked out around $90 worth of stuff that she wanted already.
I offered $285 and they took it.
If it had not been a friend of my wife, I would have offered 150 and worked up from there.

I saw $300-$400 in quick sales and then the remainder of the stuff.

Anybody else try this and/or have Success?

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Store Owners....How are you doing ?
« on: September 11, 2013, 08:48:39 AM »
We have had a COUNTRY STORE (convenience store) For about 8 years.
Deli/Restaurant, Gifts, Bait/Tackle, Grocery, etc.

I have always bought a thing here or there or cleaned out a closet and put items for sale.
In past 6-12 months gotten a little more serious.
11 year old son and I would go to local auctions and auction barn.  Pick what we could - keep some, sell some
Lately, doing a few a week.
Have gotten First BIG Lot - 20' Trailer STUFFED of stuff.
Probably grossed $1,100 side income in first month of trying at it.
Have barely touched the "Pile"
Working around 3-6 baseball games/week and basketball practice and running other store operations.

The fee is not that big of a deal on the bigger items - but have several smaller ones, Postcards, trading cards that I won't list with that fee.

Apparently I hit the wall - just got billed an Insertion Fee on my last eBay Post.

Anyone know a way to get them to give the special no insertion fee?

General Storage Auction Talk / Hybrid auction/picking/storage??

Just got back from a auction barn.
Apparently all the dealers took the vacation.
Came away with many, many straight auction buys.  Several sweet table chair sets beds, pie safe, most $15-30.  Some $5. ALL new or nearly new. Cherry, maple, etc

Hung out till the got to box lots.

Then announces he has a pile of boxes from an estate in back room. Pile?
30' long, 12' deep, 8-10' high.
Got it for $230
Didn't dig tonite, but did find a Decotti muffler, guitar amp, compound bow, hunting arrows, dewalt drill.
Soulda checked the BIG box labeled "mom's Longenberger" but didn't.
Now I have to figure out where to put it all by tomorrow.

I only list 10 to 20 items a month and sell maybe 10 to 12 a month on a regular basis, so I don't need turbo anything. I use the templates and that is useful as you can save about 10 templates I think and pick the approach for any given item you are listing.

If you have an item listed and have others that are similar you can just click on the original item's "sell a similar item" link and then change the content and pics as necessary.

As in many thing in life the KISS strategy might apply....Keep It Simple Stupid.
Going to have to agree w/ MovieMan.
In last couple days - I have listed directly on eBay and w/ Turbolister.
eBay was EASIER!
It may make a difference if I have massive amounts of items.
So far, around 12 or so.

Thanks for the Help!

For anyone else - I found "Turbo Lister".
Are there any others that are better that you would recommend?

Thanks for that info.

Not sure if that is what I meant -
I am looking at the software that helps you List your items - rather than just using the eBay lister.
I used one years ago - made life a lot easier for listing and relisting same/similar items.

I probably named it incorrectly.  Or if that is it - you are right - no way.

Am I making sense?

thanks
