We have a handfull of places here that have auction once or twice a year.

Most places have them once a month. 15%) is nothing when you look at the volume of facillities.

Like i said in my other thred, does he have a auctioneer license, if he don't he is ****ed. And he is then committing a fedral crime.
Thisnk i am gonna take a phonecall to his homestate and see if he has one. And if he does business across state lines that is something else, because then he needs multiple licenses.

I want to ask you a question. And I ask this in all seriousness. Why are you so angry? Not just in this thread but others as well.

If you are against something, rather than let it roll off your back, you take it as a personal slight. Why do you really care? If the guy fails, he fails. But you want to start meddling with his business for no gain...just to be a prick. Well, that's pathetic. I really can't stand people who piss in others Cheerios. Perhaps it's jealously.

I watched a unit that had a plastic bag with 15 packages of plastic silverware (dollar store bags) sell for $35.
Perhaps plastic silverware actually appreciates during a recession.

When you're a hobo travelling the rails, you have to travel light. You don't want to be weighed down by pesky sterling. The good thing is that they also serve as entertainment. When done eating, you can use them as target practice on unsuspecting wildlife. Nothing says fun like hurling objects at squirrels while going 60mph!

Reb, your links aren't working. When you're at photobucket, under the Share this photo, copy and paste the IMG code box and it should display the pics in your post. Like....

I don't own any thunder, so steal away  :D.

That is awesome and I'd totally keep it. Assuming it was in running condition.

I agree w/ posting pics. Sometimes I just skip over the links. I'd much rather see the actual pic. I use photobucket. It's easy as pie.

BTW, can I just still post the creepy/weird pics or is this thread just for really good finds?

It does now, it didn't yesterday.

It seems that they're driving glasses. http://texas.aoa.org/x10957.xml

It's not what I bought but what I had to work in. In my past life I was a pest control technician, a.k.a. exterminator.

Along with a regular commercial route I would have to do "preventative services" occasionally. Usually it was an inspection of someone's furniture and furnishings along with roach bait placed to prevent any infestations. The owners of the items were usually moving into apartment complexes which made new tenants supply a record of inspection. A good idea in my opinion.

So, I was training a new person (who'd had experience) and we were sent to a storage unit for a preventative inspection. When we got there at the specified time, no customer! I called and told them we wouldn't be waiting long and we were informed by the customer they'd be right there. 25 minutes later they showed. What they failed to tell the company was that there were 2 units. I know the price would've been much higher. The customer opened the first unit and things were jam packed. I explained that they would have to remove some items so that we could access the furniture and stuff. They said that I could climb over the stuff. Uh, no! I told them that it was a liability issue and they'd have to sign a waiver for me to do so. They refused and told me they'd get the stuff out. I explained that both units would have to be accessible and that I'd be back in 90 minutes.

I gave them the time and we came back. Well, wouldn't ya know. Their stuff was crawling with roaches. I was so pissed off. It wasn't even worth what the company was getting paid. What normally should've taken 45 minutes took 2 hours (even with 2 of us). I was even more angry because I'd started the day at 4:00am and when we started their units it was 2:30pm.

I'd seen some very, very nasty things doing the job, but this was a first...going to a unit screaming with roaches. I'm so glad I don't do it anymore!!!

I second Ironman's question. I, too, would be interested in how grading works.

What items are you looking for in particular? I have gotten many out of my units. They're waiting to be sorted. I just haven't had time for them to be inventoried yet. If there's some you know you want, list them and I'll take a peek at what I've got.

BTW, do you know of a good record to MP3 converter? I'm no audiophile so I don't want to spend too much. I just thought it would be cool to transfer some of them for my own use  8).

Wow guys!

I wanted this to be a fun thread. It's kind of disappointing, really. Maybe there should be a "You gotta beef with me?" thread.

So here's something else I found in my lockers. I don't even want to comment  ;D

How do you plan on selling those Xmas bulbs?  In bulk or piece by piece?  eBay, craigslist or locL auction?

I only ask because last we we won a locker with a ton of high-end Xmas decorations.  Am planning on holding them until September.

I think I'll probably sell them in little lots. Like maybe, the fish together, the Charlie Brown sweater looking ones, the spirals, etc.

I'm gonna hold them for a bit too. I can't imagine they'd sell well right now.

the dolls look like $ to me

the dolls look like pure evil to me :o

I'm pretty sure the scary clown looking ones are not $$$, but the mama one probably. I have to retain a doll expert, because there is so much doll related stuff. Some of it I know is pricey, not sure of some other stuff. For example: There are a lot of doll parts, heads, limbs, bodies but a lot of them don't have maker marks. Apparently in the doll world, some of the older ones just don't have the marks. That doesn't make it very easy to identify. Grrr.

Some newbies are just plain stupid.

What a winner! I think obnoxious behavior should result in obnoxious results. I'm glad you put him in place.
