Garage Sales / Re: Garage Sales seems to be the best
« on: December 06, 2013, 10:11:03 AM »
I live in a townhouse community so yard sales are tough for us. Our community does a yard sale 1 to 2 times a year, and we participate. Our town only allows 3 a year in general. So we can't have a weekly yard sale like other towns. It sucks.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: What are the machines in this locker?
« on: December 05, 2013, 02:07:52 PM »
I'm positive that is a printer's tray with the letter press tools. That does appear to be a built in fridge. Not sure if it would even have any resale value since it's a built in and not standard. I also see a beer tray in there. It's a Carlsberg. Would fit in with my breweriana stuff in the shop. But getting that "printing press" out would be a ***** and a half.

Take a look at this locker on Storage Battles.. Machinery is my weak spot. I don't know crud about them. Anybody care to guess as to what the machinery is in here? I do see printer's trays so I'm hoping it is related. I also see an Antique NC plate, so could be automotive.

The Lounge / Re: What do you think about Amazon Prime Air?

In my opinion this is just another way that we are dehumanizing our culture. I don't want a post man or UPS guy to knock on my door, just send a robot... this way I don't have to talk to people. While it is a great show of technology, I hope it never comes to fruition.

How would one even do that? Is it like an installed program?

Shoot, I'm in shorts today and will be tomorrow and Friday. I may even have to flip the AC on in the store tomorrow and Friday. Saturday it gets chilly, but still only upper 40s to 50s.

They appear to be lapel pins or hat sticks. The style looks to be Bavarian.

The Lounge / Anybody buy off of Alibaba.com / aliexpress.com?
« on: December 03, 2013, 01:26:10 PM »
I've been looking for cheap NFL jerseys for my son for Christmas. I don't need the real thing because he destroys his clothes.. I found some real cheap on Aliexpress.com but it concerns me because of the "too good to be true" factor. Also checked out other items on here and they are ultra cheap! Cheap enough to resell... anybody use them for personal or resale?

I've seen this commercial like 10 times this weekend. The old man looks like a geriatric fool!

costume jewelry has been a dud for me. The good stuff always sells in a second on craigslist.

Lots of interesting stuff there! If I were closer, I'd be a buyer.

...and that's the problem with virtual currency. You can physically lose a ton of money.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Bitcoins...near price of gold
« on: November 30, 2013, 03:40:41 PM »
It's crazy how the price has skyrocketed. About 3 years ago I owned a cellphone store and I had a guy come in telling me that I should accept bitcoins as a form of payment, I did a lot of selling online... unlocked T-Mobile phones and such. I thought this guy was absolutely crazy as he explained what it was to me.. I had never heard of it before and I don't think anyone has mentioned it to me since. But turns out, I should have listened!

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Facebook site
« on: November 29, 2013, 11:32:50 AM »
I know a guy who started a group just for his stuff.. He does pretty good with it, ends up selling to the same group of people. What I noticed recently is that he's been marking his stuff lower and lower. I think his well has dried up. He's about an hour and a half south of me.

Around me, there's so many groups with thousands of members that it's just easier for me to tap into that already established group rather than trying to venture out on my own. However, what I've done is put up some of my inventory in an album on my business page and I share my photos from that album to these groups. This way, these people click on the picture to view a larger image, and there's links all over to go to my Facebook page. Only 1 group so far has told me to stop doing that. I'm a member of something like 15 groups.
