Is Debbie still doing Dallas? ;)

Ever since the 80's, but aren't you thinking of another thread ?

@ MovieMan you have too much time on your hands.  ;).

Yep….

Haven’t been to an auction since my May 9, 2012 10 x 30 that is still paying off.

And…I would rather spend time analyzing something than doing the work I should do !

1)   create spread sheet….3 minutes
2)   see number of entries on forum and enter in spreadsheet…10 seconds
3)   do screen print of spreadsheet …3 seconds
4)   paste spread sheet in “paint” and save  …..7 seconds
5)   upload “paint” image to photo storage area…10 seconds
6)   publish spreadsheet image to this thread….10 seconds

Total time (for first time construction)….3 minutes 40 seconds
Total time (each update)…...40 seconds.

Probably more like 1 minute for each update….took me longer to figure out how long it takes to do it than to actually do it.

But mostly, it’s just fun to take my head and my hands through this multi-step process, or in short…I HAVE TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS !

Craigslist / Re: Are CL buyers really nuts or what?

I can't really complain about most buyers I've had the last month or so. Sold some big items for good bucks, BUT....

that said the idiots are always fun to talk about.

OK I JINXED myself. Today a fellow called about a big item and after a brief talk said he wanted it ! Address and map are in the description, but I ran it down for him anyway.

Says he'll be there at noon after a 45 mile drive....you can bet he won't be getting me down on the price since I know he has come that far !

I wait for him until 12:30 and then go home. Five minutes later he calls..."I can't find the place".  The "place" is near Hiway A and Street A.  He was looking at Hiway B and no street by the same name...and that was 7 miles away!

To top it off, he had driven about 15 miles back toward his home BEFORE HE CALLED ME !  So, he takes connecting hiway from his Hiway B location to my Hiway A location and THIS TIME I SAID..."Call me when you get to the storage unit and I will come up...it's only a mile away".  He does that and I get there.

And now for the coup de gras....he has no legs to stand on (he's an idiot) and he comes across with the $175 for a like new Caravan Canopy!  Yes, AT LEAST it had a good ending...took 1.5 hours to do what could have happened in 10 minutes if this dimwit would have use a few grey cells.

Sorrry, just venting, but at least the money came through.  ;D

Fellow calls (slurring his words) and asks about a saw I had for sale. How much did I want for it? (Duh, the price is in the ad you are calling about).

"You're in (my city) right?  How far is that from (his city)?"  When I told him it was 90 miles there was a brief silence and I just jumped in with I don't think you want to make a 180 mile round trip for this saw. "Thanks and goodbye"...that last quote from me. Hopefully, the drunk (at 10 a.m.) got a good click in his ear.

Didn't we talk/discuss/argue about this some months back.  I've only read about a auction company & bidders being arrested and convicted of this once.  It was a big real estate auction scandel in California.

I've noticed a slow down here also.  Not a many new people.  Wonder if interest in storage units is starting to decline.

See the link in my reply #1 above. Yes, we have discussed it.

It's not illegal to run up a bid if you just being a dick. Only if you are doing it with another in hopes that one party receives a financial gain.

Count me in to the above with a slight modification:

I am doing it in hopes that the winning party gets the lkr at such a high price (either a newbie or greedy regular) that he/she will experience a financial loss and thus will learn a lesson in economics.  This has worked on many occasions.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Clothes- how does everyone do?

Should add that I have 10 pair of " like new" True Religeon jeans I can't get rid of at a decent price.
Going to accept Plato's Closets offer of $22/pair......
Didn't get a single bid on eBay.  I know if I keep listing they will eventually sell but I like cash in hand now

The no sale on eBay might have to do with the fact there are over 12,000 listings for True Religion jeans while there are only 200 for "Dewalt Router" and many of the router listings are for bits, etc.

Just that the Sherman Act has no relevance in this case.       ???

I think Shakespeare said it best in the title of one of his plays...."Much Ado About Nothing".

It has even less meaning for us than arguing who really wrote Shakespeare's plays. But, that's just my opinion.

Looks awesome!

I am really interested to see how that wood working equipment comes out. Would love to see a post in a few months or whenever you sell it telling the brand & model, age, working condition, and how much you sold them for, if you don't mind.

Well, six weeks since I bought this locker and the first BIG tool has sold. Sold the wood lathe for $200 yesterday.
Still have the radial arm saw, shaper (now working smoothly). Still have the doll house as well.

The buffet, table and chairs, bar chairs, beds are all gone.  This was and is a good locker with some good potential bucks left in it.

Tuesday, 6/19/2012....

Two new episodes tonight...the usual bidding up by Dave. The couple get a big bar and something special after the commercial.

Barry gets one of those black kitchen wall clocks (a cat with moving eyes and a waving tail). They still make them, so not like it was a relic from the 1950s.

****

Recording this on TIVO and will come back and make notes on 2nd half hour later.   Going to my storage lkr to sell the wood lathe I got May 9th in a big locker...first of big tools to sell.

****

Barry gets a tip there might be Harley in a lkr paid for since 1997 !  He gets the lkr for $1200 or so...does he get the Harley?

Mark (from prior shows) shows up and ....... nothing for him.

Dave didn't go to the auction for this show...spending time reorganizing his 2,000 sq ft warehouse. Got rid of his store last year he says. Now he's up to something else...little undisclosed unless I missed it.

Darrel gets one.....nothing special...paid $700...worth less than half that.

Barry ready to get past the old couches to the possible Harley......he rips the locker apart as he usually does..no Harley.
