The Lounge / Re: Morning Bar-B-Que anyone?
« on: September 14, 2011, 07:52:04 AM »
This is what were dealing with this morning. It's going on about 3 miles from our house.

Damn, I did not read the article, but I am figuring its a wild fire. They are springing up all over South Texas this year. We really need the rain. I am surprised Houston is not seeing more of this, with all those wild fires that been going on North of ya, towards the Magnolia area (The Town, not the Neighborhood).

Drew,
update on my part, I am not sure what you did, but there is a big difference in speed as well as number of correction errors. So much faster today and so little errors then it was yesterday.

Thanks

Sounds like a cool project.. Definitely post some pics!

This may get cancelled all together. Was doing the math last night. The dimensions of this storage would or will be 10' x 15'. With 4 inches of depth on the foundation. With that it would take me roughly about 75 - 80 bags of concrete just to lay the foundation. ANd since it is so much, I would have to have it delivered. This alone is over $320. So either I am going to have to find a way to get bags of concrete cheaper, cut down on how much concrete I have to use by using other raw materiels mixed with it, abandon the project, or not use a concrete foundation (which is hard to do since I want it very stable and not get rotten).

I am in the process of building a storage locker in my back yard. Which somewhat sucks since this is a rental, but in long run will save me money from having to rent a locker. Its currently in the planning stage, I will keep yall updated with pictures and what not.

Run the small stuff through 2 garage sales. If it doesn't sell in 2 garage sales, there is a reason. Either you have it priced too high or its just a bunch of crap. I used to put an add under the free section of Craigslist and have someone else haul it off.

I agree with Travis on this, although I also use the free crap as a way to bring more customers in. Usually will have them come pick up free items same day and time I am having a yard sale.

And you can always just donate your left over goods and get your tax write off.

Hope this gets fixed soon, have a feeling people will stop coming here, and new comers will get discouraged and not join :(

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Mattresses!
« on: September 07, 2011, 08:41:06 PM »
I know I have strayed the subject from reselling mattresses to how much should I place a bid on these units.

Well, I found someone today at an auction that will take mattresses for free(provided I don't think they are worth money) as long as they aren't ripped or piss stained.  Says he can go down to Detroit and resell them fine(Better him then me).  I'm just happy that when I do get a unit that has a mattress that I have the possibility of avoiding a dump run.

Thats a good deal congrats on your find for used mattresses

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Washer / Dryer and other scrap metal
« on: September 06, 2011, 11:19:10 PM »
If the units are working, I would try to sell them off before even thinking about scrapping them. Here, if old used washers and dryers I can sell off for $50 each. Thats double what the scrapyard will pay for them.

Drew, I dont know if it is because the forum is starting to exceeds its bandwidth, or if you doing maintenance, or the structure of the forum is going down. But I have noticed for the last few days now I am getting mysql errors, as well as server reset errors while navigating through your site.

Any word on when this will be fixeD?

You have to know how to use a gold test kit, as well as how to weigh and use a calculator :)
