eBay / Re: How do you "prompt" eBay buyers to make their payment?
« on: January 02, 2014, 09:41:15 AM »
I send them invoices like crazy until they pay.

not that your not in the right to do so, however this is only going to annoy buyers and make it more likely you get bad feedback for no deserved reason but wanting to be paid.

there's really not much you can do except for only do buy it now and require immediate payment. i think sometimes sending an invoice or message can help if the person honestly just forgot or it slipped their mind but i think there's plenty of buyers who aren't too concerned about paying in a prompt matter. ive had people who buy from me and then after me messaging them say oh I get paid next friday is it okay if i pay you then? how annoying yeah id love to sit around with an item packed for another week waiting for you to maybe pay. i run into this quite a bit.

eBay / Re: I just started an ebay store...
« on: December 27, 2013, 01:49:13 PM »
normallywhen you do this ebay offers you a free consultation with a rep. def takethem up on it, ask any questions you have there's a lot of wierd nuances of ebay i was always confused about. things like if someone asks me to ship to a diff address what do i do? refund or tell them i can't? what happens if they lave me bad feedback? stuff like that.

not sure how many transactions you do but without a store you cant search your listinsg or sold items so say for example someone messages you and asks you about somethign you have to go line item by line item looking where with a store you can search something from the title and pull up the listing right away.

$15 isnt' a crazy amount i mean one sale a month should be able to cover that. ebay wont admit it but i feel like you get better search ranking with a store as well

in my experience most stuff online in relation to police auctions is either a scam, selling you free publicly available info, or selling individual pies and too hgih priced.

i go to the actual chicago police dept auction a few times a year as well as the us marshals auction. its actually facilitiated by one of the storage auctioneers in my area ace auctioneers for anyone else in the area.

basically here's how it works, auction starts at 10, you can show up at 8 they have merch on the tables you can view. most stuff you just walk by, jewelry you have to wait in line, get a ticket and they pass around big plastic sleeves full of like maybe 20 pieces in a plastic case you buy the whole lot.you can inspect items.

when auction starts normally first hour or two is nothing but bicycles, if your into bikes you'll be in heaven, if not bring something to keep yourself occupied for 2 hours lol.

rest of the auction prices  are kinda wierd. lost of stuff goes for retail prices which is crazy to me but some good deals. i got a good deal on a projector a few years back. it was like an $800 projector i got for like $200. totally random stuff though basicaly anything which was seized or found and known to be stolen but coudln't find origional owner is auctionsed so sum stuff is new in box other stuff is like golf clubs out of some guys garage.

on an item so commonly used for fraud its not worth a 10% savings to get a card, ill pay full price and know what im getting. its gotta be risky as a seller as well

The Lounge / $5 In Free Bitcoins Or 0.007 Bitcoins Free EASY
« on: December 24, 2013, 03:14:59 PM »
Hey, coinbase has a promo going on right now, $5 free bitcoins. Obviously prices change dramatically but acurrent rate thats going to be right around 0.007 bitcoins. coinbase(dot)com/?utm_campaign=user-referral is where you can get the bonus.

If you want a paper wallet on your computer to keep your coins go to bitcoin.org and you can download the program. this way you can practice sending money from coinbase to your paperwallet for storage and back to coinbase if you ever want to cash out. kinda cool just an opportunity to try out and get familiar with bitcoins without having to spend any real money

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Approached by a Domain Broker
« on: December 22, 2013, 08:10:45 PM »
storage auctions will always be around, heck alot of us were around way before the tv shows came on. that said the new interest came and went it had its 15 minutes in the spotlight and now its back to the real hustlers and resellers. downside to that is those who know the industry dont really have to buy products or even visit forums just for knowledge its more a social thing for them if they do. probably not too many newbies to storage auctions anymore

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Does Anyone Sell Textbooks?
« on: December 19, 2013, 10:32:07 AM »
textbooks are easy to sell and pretty good money,  only caveat is they have to be recent textbooks. once a book is a year or two old there's a new version. thats the racket about the textbook industyr they basically add a few pictures or a diff preface and all the sudden its a new edition where pages aren't the same on everything. i used to buy old versions of textbooks when i was in college. its basically the same textbook but because they add a few pics and a new preface teh pages dont match up so when the teacher tells you to read pages 63-80 my book may be 69-91or something like tht

eBay / Re: More Blown Away By Terapeak Everytime I Use It

In screenshot 3, it says "louis vuittons handbags"... a possessive pronoun.. like people are searching for his personal handbags.

It definitely is a cool tool! I just don't know that I'll ever be at the level of sales to justify the cost.

you bring up a very interesting point and I guess this kinda shows why these tools are even more valuable. most people probably list loius vuitton handbag. just by putting that s at the end you may be the onlly person who does that and your stuff rises to number 1 in searches because of it but most other people wont even know how buyers really search.

as for the cost, yeah its not cheap like $180 a month or something like that. not sure if they still do but they used to offer a scaled down version of this for like $9.99 on ebay as an app. there's also an ebay app in beta testing you can use which is similar although data is not nearly as good. they do offer a month trial if you just wanna try it out and do some research for free.

also, i had offered before as well, im happy to do a quick search or two for you guys if you want to pm me. i dont want to become everyone's research assistant all the time lol but happy to help out and run a search for you

eBay / More Blown Away By Terapeak Everytime I Use It
« on: December 16, 2013, 02:04:14 PM »
Not only can you do research on your own category and competitors but say your just randomly thinking I wish I knew hwat some hot selling categories were and products were. I attached one screenshot with a color codes guide such as what are hot selling categories. I saw guitars was one so dug deeper into subcategories and looks like effects pedals are hot as well. You can then dig futher into effects pedals and see what models.

You can also do "hot" research and see what the most common searched terms and items on ebay would be. I attached some screenshots showing you guys this stuff. Probably not worth it for the casual ebay seller but if you sell alot of your storage goods on ebay or even if your looking to supplement your storage auction stuff and try to buy stuff wholesale and resell to supplement your ebay store or ebay biz you can figure out what those products are as well.

eBay / Re: Is EBAY super slow lately or is it just me?
« on: December 16, 2013, 12:36:01 PM »
depending on what you sell xmas season can be great or slow. it can be great if what you sell is a popular gift or could be a gift, if you sell other things probably slow. anything from used tools to silver and other metals, etc all this stuff that peoplee tend to buy for themselves i find that people dont spend money on themselves because they are cash strapped from buying gifts, traveling over holidays etc.

The Lounge / Re: Domain For Sale www.FreeStorageAuctionLists.Com
« on: December 16, 2013, 12:33:43 PM »
Just use Escrow.com. Makes it simple and protects both buyer and seller. Fee is based on the amount of the sale.  Should cost you about $40 on a $1200 transaction.

thanks for the tip. yeah ive heard of that site before as ive had some customers inquire me about paying that way. ill have to check that out. i was gonna do flippa but there there's fees without even necessarily haveing a successful sale. they advertise they offer some listings as low as $6, however ive tried multiple times and selling diff sites both new and old and it always seems to be at least $29 so escrow looks like a better option

There's lots of "junk" we find in storage auctions that may be hard to sell as it is but could maybe repurposed into either a piece or recycled art or something. Or maybe you found a piece of electronics that was broken but were able to fix it and resell it. I guess my main point is do you guys turn any of your finds into projects. Could even be something as simple as sanding and revarnishing a nice piece of furniture.

Reason I ask is something poppeed into myhead. I was browsing the forum and saw someone in the wanted to buy section looking for CB radios. I've found a number of CB radios in units and there not worth that much and kinda hard to sell the cheaper ones. Most people into this as a hobby have something specific on their mind. Anyhow, there's an easy tweak to these Cb radios. You can steal a crystal out of a toaster or really anything that has a heating element like a blow dryer. Anyhow, if you swap the crystals you can interfere with and talk over fast food drive thru speakers. Not sure the legality of this but if its legal all the sudden you turned a $15 or $20 item thats hard to sell into something you can easily flip on ebay by advertising it as such. There's tons of stoned 18 or 20 year old kids who would easily drop $50 or $100 on something like that.

The Lounge / Re: Hey guys Check out my Ebay store if you like.
« on: December 13, 2013, 07:39:21 PM »
hope you don't mind me chiming in with a few tips. awesome pictures. not only great quality but you have plenty of pictures and pictures speak for themselves. honestly id rather see lotsof pictures than a long description but i notice your descriptions are very short. you should add to them. not only for buyers, its good for buyers but more so for the ebay search algorithm. your description, what you say, and the length of it determine how well you rank in searches and  your hurting yourself by having short desciptions.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Do vintage electronics sell for you ?
« on: December 13, 2013, 07:36:04 PM »
old speakers sell really well. alot of my relatives who are really into music seek out old speakers and pay hugely inflated prices. they say it sounds better, probably a combination of that and nostolgia so old speakers definately sell. as for receivers and stuff i would guess not quite as well since the new stuff is so much more high tech but who knows
