Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / More news on hester
« on: December 18, 2012, 02:37:44 PM »
If I was A&E I would just pay Hester off cause people are still going to watch the show if fake cause they want hope and want to believe . http://theclicker.today.com/_news/2012/12/18/15936042-reality-shows-accused-of-faking-it-in-2012?lite&ocid=msnhp&pos=7

Good point.  :o
2 1/2 is not a reality based show they have real actors. Storge bors is based on reality with below skill acting. Unless you are saying you love the barry wise scence, who would want to watch a totall set up show that was made to fool people into watching. Its like watch a magic show with out the magic. Well people did contiue to watch wrestling after they knew it was fake. Guess people can watch and tell themselves this show is real and hester lied, but if he did lie he would be sued for millions and loose everything and the laywer he has would ruin his reputation on hesters lies. You lie to the public and they will turn there back on these shows.

I'll still watch the show just for entertainment.  Is all that it ever was.  I did find the "plastic surgery" part interesting.  Need to find some before and after photo's of Brandi.
Guess we can watch for the entertainment if the show contiunes to have a strong following as people were dumped to beleive this was a real show and if ad companys still want to attach there names to a show that lied and is now false. A and E might have to cancel show.

I dress pretty grungy. The regulars know I have money to drop, so i'm not fooling them, but somehow showing up to an auction in Polos, turtle neck sweater & docksiders screams "run that guy up".

I went to an auction recently attended by a group of preppy newbies, don't know if they knew each other or if it was just a coincidence. Anyway, I was dressed pretty grunge and started bidding high on a unit and I could hear murmurs and laughter and gossip behind me. I get the feeling they were thinking "God, that guy is spending his entire welfare check on one unit!" I don't mind if people think that about me.  ;)

I never seen anyone who came to an auction dressed in high fashion or business attire when a unit for cheap, so what does that tell you.
The clothes are best to have around christmas time. We just won a 60 inch flat screen at work for donating the most cloths at the cloths drive. That locker paid itself off of 250.00 bucks winning the cloths drive.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Let the assumptions begin
« on: November 20, 2012, 02:45:21 PM »
Ok we have been out for awhile. Work and some family obligations. (old people LOL )

We have not been to an auction in months. Have even stopped looking them up for now.

So today on our way to town we get a phone call on my husbands cell phone.

Hello this is Barbra from storage facility-X. We are having an auction today at 10:00 AM today. (it was 10:00 when she called). Would we be attending? How many units do you have? 5

A little history this facility does not hold a lot of auctions. We have only attended one there (over 6 months ago). And at that time mainly regulars showed up. Not a huge crowed. We were unable to get there today. : (.

So are things getting back to normal when they are calling for bidders?
And what are the first three letter of assume mean?

You're kidding!! How can anything  on TV be fake??  :o  Here's a clue: $1500. for a bag of dirty sox and a box of coat hangers! And they are WIRE HANGERS!!! UUURRAGGGHHGAG! ???
Everything is true you see on tv and the internet. Just goole it.

When you watch too much reality tv you think you can go up against Dave Hester....
When you think you can go up against Dave Hester you pay $1,300 for a pile of junk...
When you pay $1,300 for a pile of junk you don't have money to pay your rent....
When you don't have money to pay your rent you dumpster dive in Bel Aire....
When you dumpster dive in Bel Aire you wake up in a roadside ditch.

Just make it simple! Look inside and if your can make some money buy unit at a good price. Just cause you research unit doesn't mean there is anything of valve in unit. Don't over think it.

Online Storage Auctions / Re: Online Storage Auction Websites
« on: October 03, 2012, 03:33:18 PM »
I for one would like to be able to try the online auctions but there are none in the Puget sound region yet.  I think it would be good for someone like me who works full time and does the lockers as a hobby lead into retirement income type of thing.  I can not spend more then one day a month actually going to auctions. It would be nice to be able to pick them up online.  So any prospects of the lockers in Western Washington?
Sometimes buyers are stuck holding items until the right buyer emerges. Indeed, the third-generation auctioneer, added in an interview that if someone told him that they quit their jobs and decided to become a storage buyer full-time without previous experience, he would advise them to try and get their old job back.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Saw my first truly staged unit today
« on: October 03, 2012, 01:30:28 PM »
Somebody trying to cash in.  I have heard of several such attempts here in the Puget Sound region.  Several  lockers that appeared to be full of nice antique furniture and sold for several thousand dollars each. Well all the furniture has major issues which are hidden from view and was worthless.  The renter was determined to be the same guy and a known shyster, he was confronted by one of the buyers and the buyer demanded his money back and got it.  The threat was a severe beating. Enough said as much as the guy deserved a beating it is not worth going to jail over. it appears to have stopped for now but with state law requiring the renter get any amount over what is owed this may continue to happen just not as obvious. It would be easy to stage a unit to look great when all it had in it was junk. Boxes labelled as stated in the OP are a big clue something is wrong.
Just stick to your love for online buying and you should be fine. Due to your okay for you to over paying 500 or so. ::) :P
