Here's the link for the Forrest auction in Antelope, CA.

http://www.kcra.com/video/29055786/detail.html

There may be some others; I'll take a look.

I was traveling for work last night and missed it.  But I see it is on their website (www.kcra.com), but I am blocked from video here at work.  I'll watch it later tonight.  Thanks for letting us know.

I've only been to a few auctions, but Forrest was one of them.  He was very friendly, let people take their time looking, and a font of information and stories.  Quite a contrast to the J. Michaels auctioneer I did a circuit with (that guy also appeared as an auctioneer on Auction Hunters, so I guess he travels all over CA).

Are you sure the auctioneer you saw on Auction Hunters was from J. Michael's?  John Cardoza (of his own company) is seen in the opening credits now ("sold 'em out, 2,100") and he is an irritating person, but then so is "Ron" or as we call him "Bald, fat Ron" of J. Michael's.

I'll post the KCRA link so people can watch it.

Seems Barry is friends with the Producer, and he really does only do it for the fun of it.

Hey Benluby....thanks for the link; that was a good read about Barry. He's fun to watch on the show and you can tell it's a whole different ball game for him as he indicates in the interview.

I ran into this auctioneer yesterday here in  northern California and he said they sold 26 units for a total of about $16,000. At his commission of 20% that's $3,200 into his account.

No doubt about it, the auctioneers are happy with the crowds and prices !  :o

Latest on encounter with former locker owner on the "safe locker"...

She was to contact me last Tuesday the 30th of August, 2011 but didn't. I then got a call on Wednesday on my answering machine but she only left her number, no message.

I called her back and left a message on HER machine and asked her at that time to let me know the next time she left me a message what her current intentions were. It's now Friday, Sept 2, 2011 and didn't hear from her Thursday.

These people (old lkr owners) are for the most part (not all) FLAKES and can't keep their lives together. I think JRoss is right when he says I'll hear from her in a couple of weeks and I can just imagine her surprise when LO and BEHOLD the bulk of her goods are GONE !  ;D

Most cherished items.  Real silver dollars I love finding them.  I do not find many maybe 5 in the last year.

dr...

Do you have a Carson City silver dollar or two ?  I sold one a couple of years ago for $72 at the flea market. Wonder what the going price is now?

Crowds still vary depending on a number of things; best for us is when 3 or 4 auctioneers are doing it all at the same time. Then you have to "luck out" and pick the right one to go to which again would depend on quite a few variables.

Your 10 x 5 looks interesting. How much was it and what is the potential?

Guns, gold (kept some, sold some) sold all gold

I would post some pics, but Doan and LZ don't allow photography or cell phones....  Which I feel is fair.  Nobody can be on google looking things up this way.

On a side note, I wouldn't be surprised if they're not giving away hotdogs and carnival rides.

Well, they can't stop you from taking pictures outside the facility or from across the street with a zoom !

Should I even attempt to go to this auction or just let it go by?

Please go, and could you take some pictures and publish them here? The elephants and acrobats are my favorites !

Seriously though, I think you should go for the experience AND you might be surprised; might get one or two !

If you do go, please DO take some pics; there are only 2 or 3 of us posting any pics.

Will take care of it.  Got an idea of about how many there are?

Well, I just "poured" them in as I said I would, but I have to think its closer to 50 than it would be 75. Could be 40, could be 60.

As I arranged them in the box for a good fit I did notice a lot of the bears which I think are the most popular. I saw a USA one, a green one, maybe 6 to 10 of the bears; a dragon. Maybe 5 or so didn't have tags on them.

Anyway, I only need to seal the box, print the label and take it to the UPS store.

Thanks!

Not a problem bud.  When you get the info let me know and I'll go do the paypal thing.  (To whoever had the Indy dolls, PM me some info and what you'll take for them.  I may actually be interested, but not at 250 a pop.)

We're almost good to go. I am sending you a pm at this time also with the total cost and my PayPal address for sending the funds. Please check the "other" option when sending the money.   Thanks!

I wonder why yall are saying SW Texas, Dallas is Northern Part of Texas. And yes you can tell the difference between people from south Texas, North Texas, and West Texas. Everything about the people are completely different from one region to the next. I am sure Travis can verify that.

jross....don't be too embarrased about this, but when I say SW Dallas, I mean "Storage Wars, Dallas"  ;)

Even I had the thought "southwest, Dallas" when I started using that abbreviation but even at that, Dallas is in the southwest portion of the U.S.A.

Interesting to hear that Texans can tell where each of them is from by dialects....makes sense, it's a big state.

Just saw a promo for a storage auction story featuring "Forrest" the auctioneer which will be aired on channel 3, KCRA-TV tonight, September 1, 2011 at either 5 or 6 pm.  That is the NBC affiliate in Sac and is carried on cable and sattellite systems through a 200 mile range in northern CA.

Clip showed Forrest doing his spiel to a large crowd and then people rummaging through their purchased lkr. Just what we need in our area....more "newbs" crowding the aisles.  :o

Sw texas looks like a fail

Well, we'll have to see some episodes of course, but comparisons are bound to be made between the original and the new series. I think any of us have favorite shows of whatever kind and we become "attached" to the people in them whether we "love" or "hate" those characters/actors.

I like the CSI shows EXCEPT the one located in Miami....I don't like Caruso's character (or acting job) in that one; so I watch Las Vegas and New York versions. Kinda think I would watch all of the Storage War shows though unless they burn us out with overkill running the Miami and New York series as well as time goes by. I can imagine those last two locations COULD have some very interesting personalities. In the New York, New Jersey area there was a show about "scrappers" which I found fun to watch, but I think it only lasted one season.
