furniture is not selling right now. Look at this way. Foreclosures are at all time high. Means people have a house they can't afford. Which gave them credit to go out and buy furniture they could not afford.
When they had to move out of the house they put the furniture into a storage unit. and now they can afford to pay for the storage unit. lots of used furniture. most of the used furniture stores(guys in this business) are starting to offer lay-away plans.
And don't even ask about washers and dryers. CL for free if you come and haul them away.

I keep tell myself that things will get back to normal soon. And I'm sure it will. Because as much fun as this can be it is still work. When these guys start to realize that people just don't leave their really valuable belongings in a storage unit. One they can't pay for, it will get back closer to normal. If not this year then next. Of course there is the rerun season.
How many 1st run shows are there. I can only remember 6 or 8 at most. 3 or 4 with the Haff/ton. 5 or 6 with the other, "storage wars" the one where only the 4 guys are bidding and one of them always hits the big score.
Watch that anymore and I might have to hook up the trailer and drive to California this summer.   

When do you decide to trash the items or donate it for a tax write off?  Used clothing or kids toys for example, I have and outlet for them but the buyers are picky and pay bottom dollar.  After all of the sorting and hauling, I have to wonder if some of it is even worth the time for 25 dollars.

CDs are a another one.  I used to be able to easily get $2 each for them and sell the whole lot.  Nowadays, they get cherry picked and the rest refused.  Two days ago I took nearly 200 into two stores.  Moved about 25 of them for$27 bucks.  Thought I would get at least 125.

Honestly, it wasn't that hard of a hit.  I was surprised when the insurance company totalled it.  The reason that they did total it is because she hit me right in the rear wheel, which bent the cage that supports the engine.

I helped a buddy change rear brakes on one 15 to 20 years ago. From what I remember they where not that well built. And if I remember right his caught fire and burned in his driveway a few months later.

Legally, we are responsible for collecting sales tax and paying it to the state regardless of whether we sell in a store or at a yard sale/flea market.  The only time we wouldn't be required to collect sales tax is if we are selling over the internet to an out-of-state buyer.

really! must be why I can't remember the last time I got a tax refund.

My first was a 10x10 that I got for 140ish.  As I recall, it was mostly trash.  I think that I sold most everything (after the trashman) at a yard sale for about $250.  It was a profit, but too much work was involved to get that $100.

The second auction yielded me an old pontiac fiero for $250.  I had temporary tags on it while I was obtaining a title and getting a few small things done to it so it would be registerable.  I drove it to work one day and someone blew through a stop sign and t-boned it right in the drivers side rear wheel, totalling it.  Her insurance company paid me $2500.
