I didn't get t he ladies phone number but I believe she lives down in riverdale.  I heard from another lady at an auction tht she does a fairly good business with it.  She was going to give me the ladies number but I didn't make it to the next auction in that caravan so I didn't.  I suck.  But I will get it eventually.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: R6 motorcycle
« on: September 22, 2011, 09:24:16 AM »
Sooooooooo...............apparently motorcycles and cars at certain auctions are still going for retail. The R6 went to auction yesterday and fetched $4.5k.  Mmmmmmmmm, retail on a bike you can't even test drive, Brilliant!
I would have quoted auction hunters to that winner. "congratulations you just paid retail"  Or certainly got in some smart ass remark.  Thats just foolish.
I'm guessing it wasn't a regular.

I'm still a noob in this business.  That said, the most useful information that I have seen/read is a compilation of youtube videos by glendon cameron.  Some people will denounce what he says, oh well.  His principle on this sort of thing is that you can find ****ty units in a nice community and nice units in a ****ty community.  no rhyme or reason at all.  His most valuable unit came from conyers GA  not exactly a domain for the creme de la creme.  Everyone has an opinion and yo uknow what they say about those......

Storage Auctioneers / Re: Auctioneers and the established long time buyers
« on: September 21, 2011, 05:32:49 PM »
its all cash to the auctioneer.  If they wait an extra 2 minutes to get an extra 200-500 dollars in bidding, thats a pretty nice commission.  To the auction buyer, it kinda sucks.

This seems to happen more with actual autioneers, the facility managers generally just want to get it done.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Used TV's and computers?

I keyed in "gold fingers" on ebay and found quite a few auctions for just that.  Computer parts that were selling for some decent change i.e. 50-500 dollars depending on the weight that you have.

I sell most of mine on ebay.  The others I consign.  Not as much cash but you don't have to worry about them either.

plastic bins are nice, but you will find enough of those in lockers so that you will probably never have to purchase any.  Eventually you will give some away.

most of those people won't be reading this thread, if they can read at all.  Let them spend their money and fail.  Darwinism at its finest.  Only the strong survive.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: How far are you willing to drive to auctions?

Being in a suburb of Atlanta makes it fairly easy to not have to travel beyond 50 miles.  Of course if there were to be one in a very small town outside of that range I would go.

Did you hear the producer talking about his wife being thrown out of a thrift store because Storage Wars had ruined the thrift store owners business?
that could be an interesting discrimination suit.  so there are owners that are upset that the cat is out of the bag??

Unfortunately the 15th is the date of our second and final yard sale of the year.  I will see how it goes.
