The Treasure Chest / Re: Wish I could smelt!
« on: August 24, 2012, 04:07:08 PM »
I rent a room to a friend since he's only in town maybe a week a month.
He works gold mines all over.  This latest job they set allowed to take quarry for souvenirs.
Brought back big chunks of quarts with bueatiful lines of gold and silver thru them.

Unfourtunatly the company will prosecute if they find you are selling it. We did the math from what this mine is rated at and each rock has about $50-100 in gold, plus the silver

Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink....

At least I'll have some nice book ends when I cut and polish .....and my nephew thinks he's rich now. lol
Arent smelts some weird cathloic dish made of fish

When the Storage mgmt and its employees reserve the right to bid. This is what you got on your paper after siging in. Why you ask do  not like this it because I think they have personally go in into the units and have see a better look then the rest of the people bidding at auction. They know what units are junk and have picked through the units .

What a mix of things in there.

What is it with Utah and exercise equipment?   ;) That bike has been around a while.  ;D

Hope you get it but @ $441 and 4 days left good luck.
Since Utah is a LDS state mostly Ice cream and jello are hugh here in Utah. People love there Ice cream so lots of people here look like they havent missed a meal. So they also love there exercise equiment as well, sad thing is they dont use the equipment like they should.

What, I'd better catch up !  ???

I actually have two Tivos...one for satellite and one for OTA (over the air). I bought the first one years ago and paid the $300 for lifetime subscription.  Then about 7 years ago I bought one at the flea market and LO and BEHOLD it HAD a lifetime subscription.  I've bought about 10 since then at flea and thrift stores and in storage lkrs. Not a one has been lifetime, but several had large hard drives which I scavenged and put in my two good Tivos.
How do you like the OTA? Was thinking of setting a system up for OTA

Good luck with the $600.00 bid. At that price I think it is yours.
I decided not to bid 600. But will try and snag the unit if it goes for under 300.00

Just pick up some Mexicans at the Home Depot the morning of the auction so you have help cleaning out and moving a decent unit. No units won, no problem, just buy them lunch and through them a few bucks for their time, but atleast you don't have to pass up all the good units cause of your condition.
Thats a great idea. Buy some lunch off the dollar menu and call it good.  Great Idea

I'm confused, you hate the shows but you keep refreshing topics about the shows and then create new topics about the shows. It seems you have a vested interest in keeping the TV shows on everyones mind. If you really hate the TV shows as much as you say then why don't you just let the threads die a natural death and stop starting new topics about them!  ???

Guess what, the popularity of the TV shows is fading, just shut up about it and they will go away.  ;)
Didnt think of it that way. Good Idea. I dont hate the shows just think this fourm is much more than recapping about a tv show, Fourm should be about tricks we have and good info about the trade. But you are right not to keep talking about it and let the thread die a natural death.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: The "Safe" factor...
« on: August 15, 2012, 10:01:38 AM »
Ive bid on a couple in my area, but haven't won any. Just not willing to take as much risk if I can't get a good look, sniff in person and put my own lock on the door when it closes.

My paranoia tells me it would be real easy for employees to wait till the bidding is over and go inside and grab stuff out of the back that couldn't be seen in the picture, not to mention the obvious chance of pilfering the units of smalls, jewelry, whatever even before it goes to auction.
Ive heard alot of storys in my area of pilfering of units as well right at close of auction.

Sorry, but I'm living up to my pledge not to look at links that contain the words "sealedbidsonline".  Maybe this is the new way to buy lockers, but in this regard I'm an old fashioned guy. I'm guessing your thread here isn't about an actual safe being in a lkr, but rather whether it would be "safe" to bid on one lkr vs. another based on a picture (or half a dozen pics).

I'm a gambler when it comes to buying some lkrs, but I can't make the leap to gambling on a two-dimensional view of a lkr.

Am I correct in thinking that the sealedbidsonline works only online, and that if I lived within 10 miles of a unit I couldn't actually attend a physical auction at that location? I would guess that is the case as if they did it live and online it would be a nightmare co-ordinating multiple bids coming in on-site and on web-site. They wouldn't have the capability of a place like Christy's!  ;D
I agree with you on the online thing but what do you do when all the best places you buy from are going online? Some of the best facilitys I used to buy from have gone to online. I hate it but what do you do?

Then I'd quit wasting my time by going there.
I would but all the storage companys are going this route due to tha amout of people that show up at every auction. Its a gaurentee that the units will sell over what is owed.
