I would keep it if I had that locker.  I'm always needing more room in my safes.  Currently don't have one that will fit my rifles and such.  If you could get more info on the safe as far as fire rating and stuff that could help you make decision.  I have 2 floor safes and 2 lock-box type safes.  The floor safes for my coins and weapons I don't keep on hand.  The fire box type safes for important documents, etc. that I can grab and go as need.

I would also sandblast the safe and re-paint it.

mmm, thats alot of safes. Where do you live again, lol. JK.

Yup, we all knew this was going to happen. Or maybe its been happening all along. Just now with so many people with their eyes in this industry it was easier to catch them.

Here is my personal opinion. Since the safe seems to be in good order, other than what needs to be fixed by the people that gave you an estimate. I would keep the safe and sell your other 2. At least this is what I would do. I personally dont hink there be much inside there, except maybe personal stuff. It would be a surprise to see anything of monetary value inside it. But as was pointed at, the safe was placed in there where it would be concealed., so then again there may be something good in there. But again, as said before, it is your money. But I am sure all of us are curious to know what could be inside the safe.

guys check you book all of them every time. got this one today in fort worth. i almost tossed it in the trash with out looking in it. looked them up on line $300

I found a homemade hideaway book safe once. Not as nice as the one your showing. Wish it had the stuff you had in yours. All I had was a half a xanax pill and meth pipe.

Congrats, and keep at your task of setting a price, and not going over it. You may lose some , but at least you made a policy and will enforce it. Some of the people that set a price on it will way over shoot it for various reasons. So it is best to start from the beginning of setting a cap and not going over it.

Economy is bad everywhere, some areas more so than others. And I second that part on the liening. I usually lie all the time, saying that I just cant use it no more, or it belong to such and such in the family that just passed away or is hospitilized. It is very rare that I will admit that I bought them in an auction.

very nice haul you had there.  Did you include your 2 days at the flea market in your hourly total?  As for the hour rate - 90% of my company would love to make that much per hour.  Even the temps who don't get paid benefits so they make more per hour then others.

Thanks for the details.  The gamble on those trash lockers was worth it.  I've been kicking myself for not picking up a few lockers on Monday since had till Sunday to clean them out.  One of the trash lockers went for $5 but I saw at least $50 in stuff up front.  Just wasn't sure of dump fees.  Still getting a feeling for those.

Thanks again parnisha - good luck in further auctions.

Dump fees in my area for a pick up truck full of stuff is $35, plus the $5 in gas to go dump it. However I did find a person who will take all my junk for $60. So if I have more than two truck loads to dump I just call him.

A little tip for everyone. Find a small business that has a large dumptser, ask them what they would charge you to dump your stuff there. Most will say no to it all. However there are a few that may take you up on that offer.

Well my first auciton I attended on a saturday had 100+ people there.  Even 60+ registered bidders.  Took forever to get a look at the locker as people wouldn't line up, etc.  Finally the owner threatened to not open anything else till people formed a line.

I'd say 50% of the people were there due to the big neon sign they had out by the road saying auction at 10am on that saturday.  Most people didn't have a clue how, what, or anything.  Me being the noob and I still answered questions for people that had no clue.

Only 9 people including me actually bid on anything.  Everyone else just took up space.

Really hate that, 60+ people and only a small handful even bid. If you aint going to bid, stand in the back where the bidders can look.

I use CL and post signs throughout my neighborhood including at the gas stations and grocery stores. I will be having my first garage sale from ym summer break of not doing anything here in a week. Let you know how things are doing.

Then I guess that settles it. Start saving more of my money and open an auction house. Now only decision is do I go to auction school myself and save myself the money in the long run, or quit while I am ahead with all the stuff I am doing and just hire in an auctioneer.
