Issue resolved - see link above. Cute pic Movieman, are those the two little boys you keep chained up in your basement? Just kidding.

No, they are the two little boys who just resolved their differences about taking shots at each other both here, and from what Travis said, all over the internet.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Lookey Loos Part 5.....May, 2011
« on: May 01, 2011, 08:46:50 AM »
We continue our watch on crowds and prices always hoping for a decline in both.

I went to a couple of auctions in late April, and OVERALL the trend was downward in crowd size,
but IN MY AREA prices were still relatively high with even regular buyers kicking in some bucks just
to maintain some NEW inventory.

Hopefully as time passes the prices will go down a bit too. It's centainly true that it's not what you
sell for, it's what you pay that makes the difference.

Update: The section of the bill which would have allowed storage facilities to advertise their public notices on a publicly available website was removed due to protests by Texas newspapers.

So much for that revenue stream. Too bad, it would have been a good one.

Sorry Travis baby...the newspapers pay better than you do !

What happens at 5000 posts? Drew makes you a partner and shares the revenue? No offense Drew, but without Movieman, who knows where this forum would be. I think he deserves a reward. How about hiring him a stripper?

At 5,000 posts the fireworks go off in all European capitols; at 10,000 China, India, Austrailia, etc join the party
with similar displays.

Now as to that stripper...I often wondered how you lost all your hair....having that beauty on top of you just "popped" it right out....the hair I mean.

As for me, I'd settle for a decent locker I could double my money on.  ;D

So, movieman, you're at like 770 posts right now, what happens when you get to 1000? Maybe your account gets reset to zero or something. So is there another level? Does Drew just give you another star and a pat on the back? Ata boy!

What happens when I (or anyone) hit 1,000 posts?

Well, first skyrockets burst in the air over each state capitol.
Then Congress declares a national holiday and extends amnesty to Bernie Madoff.

Other than that, not much, but the 5,000th post, now THAT'S a different story.  ;D

As to another level, who knows....certainly not my goal.

Maybe the difference from one week to the next has to do with just that....it's a different time of the month.
Paydays ?  Events going on in the area?  Number of yard sales going on?

The flea market experiences the same kind of thing based on the above and who knows what other factors.

There may be a minimum amount you might earn each time and maybe you were spoiled by a couple of good weeks in the beginning.

One variable that always changes is THE GOODS you have. That can sure make a difference in revenue.

I use a similar side sling pack. I put in locks, light, sometimes my money (in a smaller bank type bag), printed list of
today's auctions, camera.

I like a bag because all the weight is then supported by the shoulders. I see guys with locks (as many as SIX) hanging from their belt loops....guess they are optimistic!  I carry two locks in the bag and another batch in the car.

With a bag, everything is in one place.

Just noticed the flashlight sponsor, you wouldn't have anything to do with that would you Movieman?

Yeah, right. But give me his name so I can check him out and add him to the spam list.

Rules, first it was high heels, now it's a purse. What's next, an operation?

I can see the unit from mars with this.

Perhaps, but do you know how long it would take your bid to reach from there to earth ?

I think it's about 6 to 17 minutes depending on the distance at any given time.

Moon to earth .... 10 seconds or less....need to move to the moon from Mars!

The unit would be sold before your response got there from Mars !

3435
I TRIED to bring this one in to the auction, but they thought it would blow a fuse.
