Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Scene #2...February, 2012

Lol Acman - I feel your pain.  My sneaking out at lunch to attend an auction days are about over.  Getting a new boss that micro manages like mad.  Even exempt people have to clock in-out, line up for fire drill, etc.

Prices for us still seem to be all over the board but mostly high.  Like the other evening, daughter put in a bid of $10 on a small unit with nothing but cloths.  Manager told her he already had a $100 opener.  She was a little shocked.  Him and I both agreed if this was even last August, she may of gotten it for the $10, at least under $50.

Sorry for the new boss.  :(

Can picture your daughters face... Looks like ours. (confused and shocked smiley)

Movieman that looks like a good one. Would have gone for a higher in price here.

Auctions slow here a few but so inventory rich still in a holding pattern.  :(

Thanks for the well wishes.  ;D Not bad being end of month and a Windy Friday.

We were able to leave the van overnight (owners live on premisses and gated and locked) for $3. Cheaper than driving home. We take the truck and van.

It is cheap why we decided to try it out.  the other Market we sale at is $15 + T a space.

Made about $67 after expenses. LOL (Don't cringe Moveman  ;)) Not a big crowd. was very windy had to keep picking things up. Only lost one picture and votive when we were packing up. We did better than the vendors around us. Mainly went to get the feel for it. Glad we made some doe.

The other vendors said Saturday get there at 5:00 Am to get in.  ::)

Oh had the highest amount of clothes sales today. Think tomorrow will be better.

And the vulture vendors are from the other market down the street. I think there spaces are $25.
Little old lady was looking for yarn (did not take any with me) told her I would bring some tomorrow, Husband came back and asked if I could get it today? ??? No to far to drive. She is a vendor at the other Flea.  So now have to go dig that out to take with us.

Forgot finally sold the $1 set of plates for $2.   ;D ;D

The little old lady called about the yarn, said she is coming to come get it in the morning. Found 100 skeins Will sell them to her for $1 each. So if you add half that to today's total (if that is allowed  ;)) not to bad of a day.  ;D
That is if she shows up we will see.  ::)

I am awake.  :o.  Heading out to new market to us. Weather windy and high of 80.

Hoping we do well. Booth rent only $3.00 So getting two. Think we can make that back easy. So only have to make up the gas. Place advertises about the other vendors being vultures. LOL

Will update as I can.

What I don't get is why some of these people don't have the foresight to sell some of their items in their unit before they're late on their payments. Having to sell a few things is a hell of a lot better than losing everything. I just don't get it. Do they think the storage auction fairy is going to leave their rent money under their pillow?

Too much work. Or wait to long and can not get into it.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: newbie at auctions

Ok I will answer.

Pawn shops last resort for selling. The idea is to make the most off what you buy.

Would poke around on here use the search feature on selling. Several different avenues may have to try a few to find the one that works best for you. Ebay, flea markets, yard sales, consignment shops, rented retail space, Craigslist,  ect.

NEED TO FIGURE THIS PART OUT BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!!

and yes you need your own lock. use the search and can find several topics on it. What kind and how many ect.

Had one today not crazy though. Called while we were out, returned call when we got home. She was moving to our area and said it would be an hour or two. What ever we were home.

Then she called and said her husband said she had to wait on him to get off work. (Don't really blame him).
Had set out a few other things for sale hoping for extra sales. Then it started to rain. (need it).

Been 3 hours don't think they are coming. Maybe tomorrow.  :(

Well at least it was something. Almost as good as we have done on a Saturday and Sunday.

Went and looked at a market today. 10X10 spot two tables for $3. The distance from home is the same as the one that is $15. Only draw back is they do not reserve, will have to be like Movieman and leave home at 5:00 AM.  ::) they open at 6:00 Am.

Going to try it out on Friday and Saturday and see how it goes. they offer a guaranteed spot if you pay for the month. $60. Of course with those rates no in the building cover available. The out side spots if you rent by the month they will put up a canopy. And you can sell 5 days a week Wednesday through Sunday.

Was not real busy today but some Vendors there. We will see might bite the bullet and pay for the month would make the morning better.

And the advertise all over the local on line classified.

Hope you get one at the auction this weekend.

Least you don't have to worry about stray cats in the area.

He looks to be about 10 feet long - pretty good size gator.  Sort of surprised he wasn't in deeper water with the lack of rain.  Less he has been run off by others.  As you said your the only one with water in the local area.

We saw one crossing the road tail off one side and head off the other side. He was healthy too, going to the cow field.
This one we have seen the past couple of years. It is in the deepest water around. One of the near by lakes is dry, and another you can't even launch a canoe in. Need rain.

As for stray cats right on might see one for a week then it is gone. I like cats but husband allergic so no cats for us. Plus the dog finds the pooh of cats and just rolls. Yuck worse than almost anything in a locker.  :D

Had to look up "Hasenpfeffer stew" to see what it is. Sounds good, we use rabbit to make Brunswick stew up here.

(Storage Auction Forums has been offically hijacked by the Rachel Ray Show forum)  ;D

LOL

No Rachel Ray Show here just learning to live cheaper and healthier.  And we are in the DUMP.  ;D

Surprised not being attacked for eating Rabbit. Cost of food to meat ratio better than Chicken.

Just like what my domestic accomplice, a clutter-hating proponent of financial responsibility  always say with regards to storage,  ''Save the box. We're going to have to live in it someday.''

gets me to thinking sometimes LOL  ;D ;D

Love It.  :D

Perhaps he may think about killing it before grab'n it. Just a thought.  ;D

LOL thought he did and dropped it in the water and went and grabbed it.
DUH bit right through his thumb nail.

Cool...

Does everyone know that if you click on the little paper clip under this type of picture you can at least see a bigger image?  Helps especially on locker pics.

Movieman I tried your mud way of posting pictures and failed. So best I could do.  ;D

This was one of three yesterday. we are the only ones with water left in the swamp so might be an interesting summer.

@Money - all you need is a Calamari appetizer and you are all set!! :D  What time is dinner!!??

Would have to drive 2hrs E or W  to get the calamari (fresh that is).

@Money - When is the Hasenpfeffer dinner!!?? :D

LOL

Have another month or two for them to grow they are only 3 weeks old.  ;D

@ Craig in the good old days of the country dump, could get all kinds of stuff, people would set it out, all good stuff. Now we have the garbage police at the dumps. Everything has to be in a bag.

The college town I need to hit when graduation is over. They set all their stuff by the dumpster.
