How about the George Zimmerman trial?    Worse than religion.  People giving opinions with out even looking at facts....

99% of our facilities have online bill pay and rental reservation already.

Since a lot  indoor facilities here DON'T lock empty units I guess this would be a rental option.

Seems like a lot of money when facilities don't seem to be hurting for business.  And how many people must have a unit NOW, after hours?   Criminals I'm sure but other than that...it is a continence but not that big of a demand as I see it.     Plus, a lot of places are not 24/7 access anyway....

I can see this concept growing though. Maybe Auto locks doors on unit when not paid?

Right now I just see his as a way for failities to cut low level staffs hours.  That's what America needs.  Fewer jobs.

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Auction your stuff on Listia

Well I have bids.  Collecting credits. Will get rid of what I consider "unsellable's" (which some of you would consider very sellable, I know.  Just not my thing, lack of venue, profit vs work involved isn't worth it.....what ever)

But.....

I have yet to find anything I wish to purchase.  I mean, clearing stuff out is great and its totally easy but if I can't find anything to buy?    Really going to have to work it to get the tens of thousands of credits needed to get something.

And pretty much everything I list I have to weigh possible credits over tax deduction (and $3 coupon for donation)

I don't know.  To soon to give a proper review.  I'll hit back on this in a few months.....

eBay / Re: Appropriate amount of time
« on: July 12, 2013, 11:51:00 AM »
It finally arrived 8days after order.  (Technically nine but won/paid auction at 10pm-ish so started count next morning)

And after the wait.....not even "as described".    "No Damage" my a**!

But to return I need to pay postage which would take 25% of purchase price.
I can probably still make a slight profit after repairs so might a well use them as practice.

The Lounge / Re: What other furums do you all participate on?
« on: July 11, 2013, 01:03:28 PM »
I don't participate in any other forum but do use them a lot as a resource.
Especially when working on cars.  Work arounds, diagnostic....
Just a few months back I needed to replace my cabin filter.  I looked all over on how to do it.
No clue.   The dealership wanted $49.95 for filter and $99.99 labor.  Total with tax/shop fees...$171.??

For a cabin filter?!  F*ck that.

Jumped on forums.
Found my cabin filter is the exact same as some Honda, just Honda one has these tabs to slide into place.  Cut off tabs....now have a filter or $7.99.

Labor?  Pop glove box out.  Hidden screw behind, up, in, how-did-they-even-put-it-there place.
Bam! Filter out, new in.

Never Done it before and took literally 3 minutes.

Only problem I've found on forums is you get a lot of opinions or guesses.
When I was shopping for Tin to reline my pans I got a lot of people guessing on what I should use.
A lot of the suggested places to buy had lead base or other toxic chemical.  They were all electronics people, I needed food grade resources.   Same with flux.  Got a lot of guys telling me to use only such-n-such flux when tinning copper.....only the stuff was toxic as h*ll!

I think I'd of asked for expense's too.   You want me gone?  Pay me.

Good!

I was flying once where I was at window and very large man in isle and poured into middle seat

Five minutes before take off this guy comes, says that's his seat.
He was stand-by and they gave him that seat.

Large guy says no, he paid for it.  He buys two because of his size.

Flight attendant comes and says its empty, they need it, let him sit.

Big argument.  New passenger sits.

Now I'm crushed against window cause all armrest have to be up.

I'm like h*ll no!   I call attendant and say no way am I flying like this.  New guy says yeah, this isn't going to work, big guy saying he paid for extra seat......

Now get this.  The big guy was a total gentleman, professional and cooperative.

Captain comes and removes the big guy! HE had to leave plane.
We took off with me by window, new guy in isle seat, middle seat empty and the big guy that paid for the two sets in terminal talking to cops!

I had given the big guy my info but never heard from him.  I hope he got compensated.

And in 15 years I've never flown SW again.   Virgin, now THAT'S an airline!
Only problem is they don't fly direct to anywhere i go frequently......but worth it.  Great airline!

That was nice of you.

Perhaps they sould have just hired an estate company because that's the stuff that we end up biding on.
Families take everything because they are overwhelmed, stick it in storge because they don't know what to do........

But heirs never want to part with possessions.

My grandma died years ago and my uncle still has 3/4 of the household goods.
Just can't part with it even tho there isn't any real sentimental or financial value.....it was "just mom's"

Hopefully you eliminated one stress for them.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Good Part Time Income??
« on: July 06, 2013, 10:16:04 PM »
First off, I do enjoy it.  Thrill of hunt.  Like the researching of items.  All that.
It's a hobby.

As far as part time income it's the best for me.
I can make a lot more in autobody, detail.....maybe even a second job at times.

But all of it I have to set aside time and work around other people's schedules.

But this is the only thing I can do truly in my spare time.  Watching TV at 11pm I can research and list.
Find I have a Saturday morning free?  Go picking.    Hour here, hour there?  Work on refurbishing items.

Plus, since my accident I can't do a lot of he physical things I once did.  Reselling?  I just concentrate on smalls.     I hurt or have migraines unexpectedly?  Doesn't affect my sales.

I've never wanted this to be a job.  Have to count on sales.  Simply a little extra to build up the emergency fund, pay for trips, buy non-needed stuff like T-bone instead of New York cuts......and most important, find items I want or need WAY cheaper then retail.

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Auction your stuff on Listia

I don't see this as a long term thing.

I'm going to scam my free points.
List crap I'll never sell (not cost effective due to fee's on ebay or don't want to meet CL buyer for $5 item)
Use points to buy something I actually need.  Like a wallet or item I'd never spend money on.
Most likely Forgot about account.

I prefer to get cash but since I don't do yard sale or flea's I'll give it a go.

So I sign up: 500
List: 500

Sign up and list (something no one will buy) under another email: 1000

Use those points to bid on my own item, now have 2000 points.....

I have lots of emails.   ;D

I did notice if you buy groupon thru site you get points.   I buy a lot thru groupon.  Might sign up just for that.   Plus I have a ton of smalls.  Yard sale/flea stuff I'll never get around to selling.

There isn't much on he site I'd buy but if I can collect a sh*t ton of points free, why not.  Might eventually be something.....

Craigslist / Re: Any successful Craigslist sells?
« on: July 06, 2013, 03:44:04 PM »
I haven't sold anything in two-ish weeks on CL.

I don't have much posted.  I'm in the buying cycle.  Spending a lot of time picking.
While I do pick and sell the same time on a limited bases I find it hard to find time to do both at the same time effectively.   Plus a lot of my items need work.  Spending a lot of time refurbishing.

Besides that, I also have some unique items.  Things like high end copper cookware.  Not just anyone wants or needs a $200 sauté pan.   Or the Air tools, but not ratchets and impact wrenches, easy sells.  Have metal crimpers and punch for patching in panels to weld.  Pretty limited market. Might have to ebay

I didn't even post anything this week.   With the 4th, family stuff, bbq's and people out of town.....why bother.

Picker's Paradise / Re: Pick'n eBay?
« on: July 06, 2013, 12:40:22 PM »
So far this is to working for me.
For one thing it's hard to find things I know I can sell that aren't popular items to bid on.

Most  importantly I don't have the funds.   I can't risk winning a multitude of auctions.

Friends been doing good in silver.  But he can afford the bigger pieces that aren't being heavily bid on.
He can also risk bidding on 200 auctions at once, he has the cash to cover it.  In reality, out of 1000 bids he might win 10?    It's all about grinding it out.   Makes some good sores but mostly its about the $5, $20...$50 hits.    But he does hundreds if not thousands of them.   Adds up.

Club Utopia.  It's gone but was behind the McDonalds on the trip.  They had "a fire".....and huge insurance policy....right before they were about to be shut down by the authorities.

Awesome club.  Didnt even open unil 11pm.   I could get done bartending here, hop a red-eye and be at the club just as they were really starting to get going.
