That's OK Mr. A, but I liked your grid from IL.  Got a grid for Houston and maybe not Public Storage?
How about some of those "obscure" lightly traveled auction sites?

Thanks for the effort.

Mr. A....

Could you post some for Houston !

Could you post a comment sometime WITHOUT putting in the link to your Houston based business?

Thank you.

After posting my Honda Quad in post your picture thread I remembered that in the same Pod locker I got a S&W .22 target pistol in blue case. Selling guns in CA is touchy but I sold it for the same price Bass Sporting Goods was selling it for...I think it was the "no sales tax" that sealed the deal.  ;)

Hypothetical question: Suppose there was a storage auction information service in your area which called every storage facility within a 60 mile radius. If this information service provided information on 100% of all storage auction events in your area & provided 30-40 auctions per month that you couldn't find on any other website, at what price would you subscribe to this website?

$5 $10 $15 $20 $25 $30 $35 $40

Thanks for your input.

I would pay you $100 a month if you could provide 30-40 auctions per month I couldn't find on any other website in my area. Could you also guarantee that no more than 30 people would show up at those auctions?

I truly believe in my area there are not that many "hidden" auctions.  So, if you ever start the service in the Sacramento, San Francisco, CA area we're good to go.

Partial quote from post above:

I guess everybody uses their own method........  Oh yeah, and TreasureHawk, keep in mind that while the "home runs" are harder to get, there's a lot of money to be made on the "bread and butter" units that a lot of guys overlook.  High quality stuff can be hard to find.

These two statements are accurate in my opinion.

For me the flea and eBay are the top two choices because of the kind of things I sell. YOUR RESULTS MAY BE DIFFERENT.

I sell collectibles, better tools, camping gear (in season), electronics, computers, etc at both the flea and on eBay. I also sell this stuff on Craigslist. I haven't done ANY business with thrift stores, but I have sold some stuff to music and sporting goods re-seller stores.

When I get ordinary household stuff like dishes, pots, shoes, etc I will pick out the best and either sell off the rest to flea market sellers who sell at lower end markets, or I will just give it to Goodwill.

I have power seller and top rated seller status on eBay and that gives me a 20% discount on fees.
I have never seen the advantage of having an eBay store.  eBAy works for me it may not work for some people.  I do know that I would never have gotten $81 for a plastic gun case and the manual  that went with it on clist or at the flea.

The lists I post on youtube are free lists, it's a resource for people so I don't see anything wrong with posting it. I get your point of the thread though

I havn't checked Glendons channel lately but he's out of the biz? You happen to know why? He was all about auctions and I believe had been in the biz for a long time. Was it the show/crowds that made him leave the biz?

Yes, I get the drift of your free videos and your paid service.

I watched 1.5 of Golendon's videos and decided it wasn't for me. He himself said he was no longer in the business, but I think I just stopped watching so I don't know why he quit.

Personally, the YouTubes I like are the ones that show me how to do something...not talking about something, but demonstrating how to do something.

no, I've been out for 4 full day tours of duty now...haha

I'm not just looking for treasure...Overall, I'm looking for better goods that have resale value and potential and not 20 year old, beaten up dressers with the knobs missing and rugs so filled with cat piss the auctioneer is complaining about it

Four days....you're practically a veteran !  ;D

But really, give it some time. The lkrs you have seen are typical and will always outnumber the better ones. We are anxious to hear of your road trip to a better area, but remember, people lose their lkrs because they didn't pay up and sometimes EVEN THEY realize the stuff inside is not worth the storage price and they just let it go.

Yeah if you are looking for treasure. You are in the wrong venue. I had a close call the other day. I'm processing a unit and my 6 year old says hey Papa, look at these gold coins. Heart racing I go to look. 35 or 40 Chuckie Cheese tokens.

Now THAT'S funny ! (and typical)

I guess maybe I should revisit the fleas but I have heard that up north and in CA they are allot stronger than in FL??

Yep, I bet there are regional differences. In my area there are 4 flea markets and some of them run during the week, not just on weekends. Fifty miles away in either direction there are more fleas. It is big business here.

Forgot to mention the flea at Alameda near San Francisco. I think a spot there is now $125 for the day.

I should have been clearer in what I thought might pop up here.

Rather than YouTube videos touting lists for sale (yes, Rules there are more people than you doing it, so this is an effort to stop other similar video posts) and talking heads telling HOW TO MAKE MILLIONS (I understand the other example you gave is a fellow who is no longer in the biz).

I know the original example posted here was of an auctioneer touting his own service (witness the commercial message every 30 seconds) I BELIEVE there are YouTube videos out there that are JUST PLAIN AMATEUR videos showing storage auctions in action.

But maybe I'm wrong.

3748
Sure!  That's Great money...I know I'd take it

I have just heard that with title and outside lien issues, these types of items can be a real difficult sell

And THAT my friend is when patience, persistence and perseverence comes in.

I'm not naive and I realize that only 1 in 50 or 100 lockers is a "home run"  but 99% of what I have seen thus far is only flea mkt / thrift / swap meet crap and that isn't my market...I'm talking really low end garbage.....

Well, the flea along with eBay is one of my big money-makers and I don't sell "crap" there. A bad day at the flea is $300 and IT DOES HAPPEN, but a $650 or $1,000 day isn't bad either.  Where did you intend to sell?

I guess its finding a needle in a haystack...for me cuz I want the higher end units...and there arent many

If after tomorrow, I dont find one...I may be moving on to another venture...at least till the summer and the heat drives people away....to much time spent to find decent stuff to resell

I didn't think it would be easy...but I did think with cash to spend that it would be easier to buy volume and get a good base of inventory built up ......this is just to inconsistent....not enough good stuff to buy in Tampa at the right prices right now

And reality sets in QUICKLY !  What happened to "...failure is not an option !"  Come on, give it a chance.
