New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Noob question of the day.

1. For my area, and many others, this is the usual case. Some may be cherry picking, but for hte most part it is just a general observation of what they see at the door.

2. In my area I have not seen this yet, I would stay away from facilities who practice this, seems to me they are just trying to drive the price up on the locker.

Well there is a group that always go to auctions together. A guy with his wife and 3 buddies. All go together, have a small store, always buying. I remember them the most because they helped me with some tips as well as help me sell some of my inventory.

Then there is this other guy I cant forget, cause everytime I see him he runs me up when I am interested in a locker. I seem to still get it for under the price I was aiming to walk away from, but not far from it. Although he did have me walk away from a few.

I lost mine due to finances and it being a 3 hour drive away. Had lots of Scuba Equipment in it.

" IT "?  LMAO he is stuck with em all. who cares ? face it if a pro cant move them then you think you can?
Humm seems this has hit a sore nerve are you stuck with junk to Moon? HAHAHAHAHA.....

Well I can say that I could move about 20-40 of them with out a problem. Dont remember how many he supposedly gotten to begin with. But any left over from the 20 - 40 rough estimation I could slowly move.

It is good to know a bunch of DJs.

probably a dumb question in my world but whats the best way to network to get items to move fast so i can have more room for inventory?

     Also probably not sure about this as to what kind of response i would get but anyways... i am lookin to do this full time without opening a resale shop or anything of the like. i am going to be aiming for at least 200-300 dollars a week profit or about 1000 a month profit. i will be doing flea markets along with ebay, CL, maybe amazon. is this a reasonable amount or should i shoot for less and hope for more?

Dont do it for a day to day, week to week, or month to month. Do it for each locker. Just make you goal to at least double your money for each locker you buy. So lets say you bought 10 lockers this month.
1 = 75
2 = 30
3 = 350
4 = 125
5 = 200
6 = 130
7 = 600
8 = 210
9 = 90
10 = 150

These are an example, this would total up to $1960. So in turn you want to at least double that profit to $3920.

And this is the reason I say do it by the locker. Cause that is when you make your money, this number will never change. You may not get 10 lockers this month, or even 2 lockers. It all will go by how aggressive you want a lkr (smartly I might add), the price it is sold to you at. (Cause these variables will change all the time on what is in the locker, if you want it for X amount of dollars, and of course what your competition is willing to throw at it).

So I would make your goal, just to double your income on each buy. This is not like a regular retail store where you have a set price that you buy at.

@tclane,

By the way, if I see a 12 year old kid bidding on a decent unit at auction; he or she ain't gonna win it as long as I am there! Just sayin'  ;D

lol, Your going to go into a pissing contest with a 12 yr old just so you can get the unit he/she is going for even if it aint worth that value?

I understand, but how often does that really happen? 1 in a 100 auctions maybe?

lol, probable worse odds than that, 1 in a 1000 or so

In the case of a foreclosure or an automobile lien sale that may be the case because those purchases have to be titled or deeded. Buying a storage unit is no different than sending your child to the store to buy a bicycle. When was the last time someone checked your ID at a storage auction?

I was once checked not to long ago, hell they even made a copy of my ID. And this was before they started the bidding process, this was at check in time.

And I have a feeling I was sitting on something good and did not even realize it. Japanese Wood Block Prints. I know these are original, but have yet figured out who the artist or time period they came from. Trying to look it up now. Lots of artist to go through.

I know these (originals) go from $100 to $1,000 each. I have four of them, each professionally framed and previously cataloged. Most likely for an auction. Here is one of them with the signatures. They are all from same artist.

here is a view of the signature:

so if anyone knows about this type of art, please do let me know what I have.

Thanks

to add to jross79's theres also 'call blocker'. its usually a free service through your phone company. you just need to have the number you want blocked and once its in place you wont be bothered by that number anymore and you will still have all your contacts without losing money with google numbers or any of the like.
    the only reason i know about this is cause of my ex. she blocked me after she cheated on me with her ex husband lol.

Ya but they can still harass you from any other phone.

I was pissed when I found out Operation Repo was fake! I really got into it for a few weeks, then started noticing funny things about the show. Now I laugh at myself whenever I see any of their commercials. :D

Umm, whats Operation Repo?

The simple answer is they are clueless. Once having bought one or two at high prices and either breaking even or losing money, perhaps they will learn.

naw, I think a few of them are hard headed, they keep going for that one in a million locker with large sums of cash and gold bars.
