General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Next time I'm taking my Civic.

Yikes, I sounds like the more well known and better advertised auctions are going to be slammed in the coming months,  but I bet we can still get away with some good deals at the little known facilities. I will have to see how this theory pans out over the next couple of months.

That more than likely the only place we can walk away with a deal. I just hope there is not going to be a 3rd season. :\

I will add this, make sure you get a google number or some other call forwarding service with an anonymous number. And let all transactions go to that number. Your contact info for the storage facilities, CL ads or the like. Anything and everything. So when this does happen, all you have to do is change your google number, cost is $10 to change it. Beats having to change your personal or business number and end up losing lot more contacts then just a few sales channels.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: confused about times
« on: August 03, 2011, 06:12:29 AM »
Well if they really were going to have in it at 1130pm I would go, hell, dont think there would be alot of competetion, if any. :)

But I would think that they were either given you a hard time or got confused between am and pm. Regardless, as suggested earlier, call them when it gets closer and verify time and date, as well as how many units there are then.

I'm tell ya in Utah that would go for 800-950 bucks! This hapens s at every auction in my state. People over pay. If you can't double your money then why bid so high??

Is this before or after the hype that the shows created? Another reason that people pay so much is not because of the show, they are noobies that are getting into bidding wars because of pride or excitement. And neither of those should apply in this business. The other reason that bids will get high, is because of territorial whales. So take into account of all 3 of those, lockers will be high.

Its just a shame that more people dont catch on that those shows ALL OF THEM are for entertainment only. Good for TV, but terrible for educating. More people will go broke before they pull these shows.

Both of the videos in this post are only 30 seconds long, so not too much of your lives wasted !  ;D

There are many of these videos on YouTube: Here's one that given the price and the product received seems somewhat typical. How he paid that much I don't know; even in my area from the view I think we would have had I can't imagine more than $300 for it.

The next one is entitled "Jackpot find from a storage locker"....what an idiot. Read the comments too, they're funny as well.

seriously, $900 for that **** unit. I dont even see it going for $250 here, and that would of been a gamble. And from the looks of inside, hell naw, no profit even if you bought it for $250. He really screwed himself.

443
And I cant believe I watched both the videos.

444
I want to say I am like on 20 something call list. Only 2 different places call. And that is once every 3 months for both of them.

445
Regardless, I do not think you made ANY friends here by doing that. :\

There are quite a few forums out there now , and this one has them all beat hands down .
To answer another question that came up  ( I hide My answers in random post so they can't be found easy LOL )   on  a certain TV show that will remain nameless , the " Actors " were bragging that they  are paid $ 2500 a show ( definitely overpaid ).IMO
Bandit

Must be nice, get paid 2500 per show, travel the country for free, then make it look like you really know about something in the Auction business.

The Lounge / Re: Aluminum being hoarded

Its the General Supply and Demand. You hoard enough of the same stuff in large quanties, companies begin to look for it when they need it, since people are hoarding it, there is less out there. Sooner or later this demands for a higher price for it. Hence the supply and demand.

Hope the ratings will continue to drop and people start realizing there is alot more to storage auctions then what they show on TV. Just hope it dont take 20+ years for them to realize that the shows are just entertainment like they were with wrestling.
