Hey, guys...

Got a couple things I do for freebie day that you may want to do, as well.

I've been using turbo lister so that I can work on listings when I can and list them together on Sundays. What I've done is created a folder just for items for freebie-day.

I create lisings for lower value pieces or listings that didn't get too much interest the first time they were listed and keep them in that folder until freebie-day. I was able to get 22 listings up yesterday doing this and had one item sold with buy-it-now before I woke up this morning.

I'll take any extra sales I can get, so this is what I've been doing.

Honestly, I've been a little lazy. I think I should be getting even more up on freebie day.

...And that thing about Mr. Glendon? Thank you! To be compared too a successful individual like him is quite a compliment. It warms my heart you thought of both of us in this manner.

It would appear that you don't know Glendon's reputation around these parts. He hasn't represented himself very well when jumping onto these boards.

Honestly, I simply love this piece.

I think it would make a great bar for someone's ski-town cabin/chalet.

That is probably how I would market it, but I live in Central Texas, so I'd be in trouble.   ::)

eBay / Re: eBid?
« on: March 08, 2012, 05:16:43 PM »
One cool thing they are doing is offering what they call SELLER+. You pay a one-time $49.49 fee and get Zero listing fees, Zero FVF, 5 Free Photos, 5 Stores, Unlimited Listings and a T-shirt so that you can wear it and let people know that eBid even exists.

Think I'll stick with eBay. Even at 12%, it's still one of the cheapest sales options in the marketplace and gets a lot of traffic.

I am considering an ecrater store just to have a second venue for people to see my stuff, but I think eBid, even being around for over a decade, has some building to do.

I just did some surfing on the site and ran across a poll they had about adding a "best offer" feature. They had a space for user comments and here were three towards the top:

I set up a ebid account last year for selling, on ave I sell about 50 units a month on fleebay, on ebid I did 2  needs pushing more to get people looking!

I list on ebay and ebid my sales on ebay in one day are more than my sales on ebid in a month. I list over 400 items on ebid and I only sell under 10 items a month. It would not be worth it to me if I had to pay listing fees.

I have voted yes, but I dont see this as an underlying problem,
I have spoken to many many people about Ebid and they didnt know it existed, so I see this as the main issue, It requires a TV advertising campaign to make people aware there is an alternative to EBAY

What is the URL for ebid? I went to ebid dot com and it looked like a domain place holder so I passed on looking around.

anybody? anybody?

ive listed everything on craigslist as well. ive had two texts and an email about the bed frame for 25$ and call about the changing table for 30$. out to a good start!

The boardies around here will respond to you and be quite helpful and maybe a little snarky, but give them more than two hours early in the morning.  ;)

Congrats on the wins! I would advise caution with the baby furniture and be certain to check for recall notices on any baby furniture you get.

The missing couch cushion is a PITA, but part of the business.

So they film for 125 days for a 30min show that is really 22mins allowing time for commercials.

He was referring, I believe, to a season.

Also, consider that 8 hours of filming with 4 cameras is 32 hours of film. And after production, some lucky editor gets to watch every single frame.

So, if a single episode follows a typical 8 hour shift, they may have 32 hours of film to whittle down to 20 mins and change, accounting for titles and bumpers.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: pods
« on: March 05, 2012, 01:02:21 PM »
Best way to find the pod auctions? I am always looking for new sources of product.

I always just see them listed in the legal notices with the storage liens and such. Haven't been to one, but they run regularly around here.

Missed out on one that advertised 40+ units. Would've been nice to see that many in one place, but I also fear what the crowds would've been like.

Picker's Paradise / Re: Thrift Stores and Flea Markets

When thrifting, I'm always on the lookout for certain collectible mugs. Most of the time I buy for $1-2 and sell for $5-10, but I'm always holding hope for that day when I find a mug of some significant value, like the Fire Kings and such.

About two weeks ago, I was looking at a mug, but was unsure of it and put it back. I should've taken the $2 risk. That mug consistantly sells for $40-60 on ebay.

Beyond the fact that it will haunt me for a little while, that experience has reinforced my desire to follow MovieMan's lead. I need remote internet access.
