Flea Markets / Re: Weekend Sales (1-28-12)

I just learned something about the horses.  ;D

Think we are in the same boat Craig learn with every trip. Wished our big locker had more than clothes and furniture in it. So will have to take the plunge next Saturday on the clothes. Have my fingers crossed. I did notice a blue jean vendor was busy yesterday.

All the good smalls out of that locker are gone. I have saved all the candles and the bits and pieces think I am going to make sand candles (old summer camp thing) out of them. all the candle crap sold like crazy.

And the religious stuff sold too. did not put the Bible out it is a little rough.

Have about 50 plates 2 or 3 matches. sold one for .10.  ??? just trying to get rid of them ::) they turn into a heavy item to carry around.

Still have a box of votive's I need to clean yard sale find.

Did find it hard to sell my Aunt's stuff. The prices she put are good but had one haggle so sold it for $10 less.  Have not talked to her yet so hopefully she want be upset. She did give me a no lower than price on some stuff.

Agree with that.

MovieMan has been replaced by a bot who can only repeat the same post over and over!!!
NNNOOOOOOO!!!  :'(

Too Funny.

Shmoopy  According to my records we are doing best with the yard sale finds, and close second is a once a month equipment auction (Husband does that one).  Buys boxed lots of stuff. Once got a truck load for $5 we are still selling off that stuff.  ;D
Have not been to our local thrifts (in town) in a while the last time there their prices were high. But in your are their are a lot of thrifts, so you should be able to pick them. Good luck.

The Flea is fun and interesting. All our fellow vendors are very nice too. Had an ugly used up electric skillet for $3 did not sell last week was going to throw it away and one of the vendors said no somebody will buy that. So I kept it and sold it yesterday.  ;D

Well we did ok. Not fantastic.

Got rid of some inventory. Now I see why you guys like the smalls, my junky ones just walked away.
We took the van, truck and trailer full. The vendors were vultures on the trailer. Tried to help my husband back in. Poor guy they were not helpful. Paid for the rent in the first ten minutes of being there.

One guy was all over the antiques from my aunt. Think he would have figured out I new what we had after the first 5 prices.

Did not have space for any clothes and decided to leave them in the van. Wished I hadn't, totally different crowd. So we paid for next weekend for Sat.  One of the vendors said this past Sat was a bust. Not sure if the market was so busy sense I75 was shut down due to the fires (going to be a rough year all the lakes and swamps are dry). We have a fire north east of us that want go out unless we get a Hurricane.  :(

Going to spend the week going through the stuff we have toted around for a while and either dispose of or make .50 boxes. They will dig at our market.  Husband had all his man s*it and did not sell much. LOL He went to pay for next weekend I sold a bucket of rusty old screw drivers for $3.00.  ;D Told him he did not have the skill LOL

The clothes will take a whole booth so will have to downsize the other stuff for the other booth.  Still inventory rich.

The thrift is still having problems. We have to regroup, the units we have been able to pick up all have been furniture and we were able to get rid of it now things are crawling.  ::)

Did come home to a reply to one of our classified ads. So looking up a little.

We have had one guy like that. Gets all up set when he does not win.

I am with Craig don't see it much down here (with the exception of noobies).

Most of the time when the bidding starts and you are friendly to the opposing bidder This saying comes up "THERE ARE NO FRIENDS AT AN AUCTION" Then there is chit chat after the bidding is over.

Looks good to me. I would rather have a plain jane one though.

Would wish you luck but from your other post don't think you need any.  ;D

We are heading out to the Flea have a wide assortment of stuff. Will see what walks away.

Heck - you know how much a good casket could sell for ;)

Think I would of passed on that one.  Then again since my wife is into CSI and working on her masters she would of gone for it.

LOL

@ Movieman that looks just like here in Florida.

I did a new run today bought 3 lockers. Crowd was fair about 25 to 30.
Did find out it was a woman who was involved in Horse rescue. Maybe I will find some saddles.

Sounds good on the lockers.

On the rescue thing  not sure what you will get out of that. Most of them run on a shoe string. Down here it is crazy with the animals, people turning them loose because they can't feed them. And a lot of hoarding issues with animals.  Hope you find something in that unit.

Feel sorry for the granddaughter,

Can just here it on mothers deathbed "Now sweety make sure you pay my storage your grandmother is in there"  What do you do?

Strange.

Maybe for nostalgia to someone who went to that high school. Other than that not sure.

We are in the classic inventory rich/cash poor situation and I need to focus on the sell-side.

It's a lot of listings, so I'll be spending most of my day working on that. Now, off to take pics.

"Say Cheese!"  ;D

CHEEESE!  ;D

We too are inventory rich /cash poor. There was only one auction this week and it was in a town north of us. Like this place, but skipped it. Auction on Monday new place for us and right down the road. Only 4 units, so with income tax may get paid up.  Our Thrift is having problems still. Sells have dropped to nothing, Will go pick up things that I know will sell at the Flea. Need to get that money rolling in.

Spent the day picking my hoarding Aunts house. Work paid with items to sell and will sell for her for a commission. She has really nice stuff. So got a truck load of stuff for the flea this Sunday. Thinking about holding off on some of the clothes (think just a bad time of year for them). undecided.

Got two radio flyer wagons one regular size and then a small one. And a enamel bread box. Just worry about I might end up owing her money, I like her stuff.  :D
Plus she is into smalls , I need all the help I can get in that department.  ;)

Good Luck to all.

Sounds like a nice locker.

Saving some for chairs is a great idea. Washing some of the clothes we got came across a nice sheet, real heavy but was ripped down one side. Covering six metal chairs with it.

Have tones of yarn , older than dirt somewhere in the 30 year old department. Inherited it. Sold $400 worth at a yard sale (about 6 garbage bags full) Taking some to the Flea this weekend.

Good luck.
