Didnt Mr A say he was going on vacation?

Also those two might of gotten tired of the BS that was here before alot of people actually started posting, more so than the regs that were here. But cant say for sure, since I have not heard from them, although I am almost positive Mr A posted something about taking a much needed vacation.

Yup, that is one I would stay away from.

certainly stay away from there..  By the way are we able to call out who and where these not so great places are???  Maybe start a sub-section for shady storage facilities???

This is a double edge sword, although yes it would be good for us to collaborate which facilities to stay away from by name. At least for the users on here that are in the same general area. However, these facilities can easily go back and sue you for slander. So I would be cautious around that.

@JRossJr  Actually, the picture with the dove on it was just a pic with hip hop artists and stuff that I may get $3-4 dollars for at a swap meet. The other picture I sold for $15 to a lady that belongs to a sorority and she just enjoys buying stuff like that.

The TV has power and all yet it doesn't have the RF connection for a cable hookup, so its practically worthless. I'm not even going to bother pawning it. There is a 2-drawer Formica nightstand that you see behind the armoire, and I gave that to my Dad as a gift. The box full of clothes didn't have any surprises but my wife was able to find a shower curtain still in its packaging that was real nice, as well as some jewelry bangles. The armoire is junk and of low quality, and I intend on scrapping that today.

All and all, I didn't expect to make much money off of this but I did make my money back along with making a couple people happy.

Put that TV on CL, you may be able to get $5 - $20 for it. Although it may take awhile to get it sold, but it will sell. Dont even try to get more than $20 for it though.

What's it Worth?? / Re: What is it (3)?

it looks like a case to hold metal stamping dies, if there were more holes I would say the alphabet but I guess some other kind of stamps. Does one side lock down on the other?

You know what, come to think of it, I really do think that is what it is. Google it and see what you come up with. And if it is, then it wasnt mixed with my grandfather's stuff I remember seeing it. Would be my grandmother's stuff. She use to work at an old small time newspaper printing press.

Hard to say with out seeing more of it. I can see its wood, and not particlefallapart. But looking at the legs of the dresser, I would say that is a vintage piece, and I would not paint it. Maybe, and this is depending on the age, remember some things can hurt its value if it is restored. Anyway the most I would do to it in any case is re-varnish it.

rotten bananas

lol, well I figured with it being his inventory locker there wouldnt be food, but I guess you never know.................................. :)

some dvd's, a few bibles, photo frames, desk lamp, a couple dishes and some misc. yard sale stuff.  also some sweet candle holders...don't know if they are worth anything tho

The candle holders do look nice, look like heavy metal with some sort of center piece I cant tell. This I know is a modern piece, just not sure of anything else on it. I would guess it to be worth at least on a resell value 35 - 40 each. But then again I dont know the quality or who designed them, so it could go a little higher, or alot, lot lower.

$11 back? Do you know what kind of TV you got? There are Gold and Platnium Bars in there. lol

Seriously though, I am curious about that picture in there. Think you can post a picture of just that? Oh forgot to mention, the big one, the one with the dove on it.

Do your research, build a data base using any method you can think of for sales channels. CL is a good way to look for people that are interested in buying certain things in quantity. Look in the want ads section. DO NOT SOLEY RELY ON CL, get other sales channels.

Start off basically as a lookey loo, go to a few auctions, dont bid, just watch and learn. You are not there just to size up the unit, but also to size up your fellow bidders (some might even have other sales channels for you, but when the auction starts, you have no friends out there). You also need to size up the auctioneer as well as the facility management.

Dont judge a book by its cover, just because its a high end rich neighborhood does NOT mean there is good stuff in there. Just because its a very poor neighborhood doesnt mean there is just trash in the unit. Believe it or not, my 3 best units where in a poor ghetto neighborhood.

Well personally, if my lock is not the one locking my newly bidded locker after hearing sold, then I would not bid there. It just sounds like a way for the Original Tenant, Facility Manager, and Auction Bidder to get really screwed.

As far as the no gate entry code, here in SA they have been doing that for a long while now. Even though about all the Vets and a few of the fresh meat have alot of those codes.

Yea, and any baseball cards from 1989-2001 will become hugely collectible too!!
Damn
I knew I should of gotten that Girls # at the auction today ( but My wife was close by  :-X  ) , She got boxes and boxes of cards in a locker last month for a little over $ 400.
Bandit

lol, if that is all she had in the locker, then wow, she over paid

The ones that really stand a chance to really pull off a good pay day from the shows is the Auctioneer.

This is not to say that people should jump on the bandwagon and start how to learn and get the licenses to become an auctioneer either. If you do try to go that route NOW, good luck on getting in on the storage auctions as an auctioneer anytime soon. Most of the auctioneers in my area, that do storage auctions, have been auctioneers for years, decades. They built up their client list slowly to include storage auctions.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Children at Auctions
« on: July 29, 2011, 09:05:09 PM »
Well, I cant complain to much, cause I do bring my kids out there, my daughter who is 9 and my son who is 8. But since they are not buying I make sure they stay out of the way and keep their mouths shut about anything they do see in a locker.

Key advice to everyone else that do bring your kids for what ever reason, bring them something to drink, snack on, and if your kids aint bidding, keep them away from the door and out of every one else's way. This also goes for those lookie loos who are not even thinking of bidding.

My advice, Tangerine or Banana Speedo, serves to purposes:
1. What better way to beat the sumertime heat!
2. Everyone will be so busy staring at you, they won't be able to concentrate on bidding!

LMFAO, get a picture of that and I bet it will be Movieman's Top Pick for Storage Auction Attire, lol

I know I wont keep a shirt if I accidentally spilled food that has been baking inside a fridge inside a lkr for the past 9 months.

Also think of something comfortable, remember most units are not climate controlled, so if it is hot outside, it will be hotter in side the lkr.

Thats when You stop at your local Grangers and pick up one of these babies .
Strip down and go to town
      grainger.com/Grainger/DUPONT-Hazmat-Training-Suit-3WJL2
Or the Storage Locker Special   6 Tyvek  suits for $ 40.00

     Bandit         ;D

oh hell no, die of heat exhauction or heat stroke with a hazmat suit on, oh better yet, NOOBIES YOU HAVE TO WEAR HAZMAT SUITS WHILE DOING STORAGE AUCTIONS, KEEP YOU COOL WITH YOUR SWEAT, KEEP YOU SAFE FROM SPOILED FOOD, RAT DROPPINGS AND URINE, NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT BED BUGS OR ROACHES. :)

That is a good tactic, but it may just back fire on you one day. :\

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Keeping up Sales in winter
« on: July 29, 2011, 08:56:30 PM »

So You are up above the RGV  Rio Grande Valley where some  the Winter Texans Go ?
If it is warm , You just might see us .

Yup, it stays pretty warm here, it does get cold during the winter months, but you rarely see ice on the road like you would up north. It gets cold enough to freeze water, but you dont see to much of Black Ice or the like on our roads. Snow, try once every 10 years, lol.
