Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: # 6 locker update

I will keep my hopes up on the clothes sold a total of $2.50 worth at the Flea today.

We did not have as much room as we needed. Have rented two spaces next weekend and have another plan on how to sell them. Still trying when, I figure out the winning combination I will let everybody know.  ;)

If does not work next weekend will resort to Ebay lots and see.

Still feel it might be the time of year all new threads for Christmas.

Still Optimistic.  :) :) :) :) :)

Meet a lot of nice people, even the vendor who got tipsy off her beer. LOL

We learned a lot. Nice crowed died when the games were starting. Figured that.  :D

We rented two booths for next Sunday. Will take the man stuff and some of our higher end stuff.

Then we will take Super Bowl Sunday off.

They love when I show up as I sell many 1-3 items that they buy and then try and resale at $5 or so.  I know that is what they are doing and have no problem with that.  I'm mostly turning and burning inventory and don't want to sit on it for weeks on end till the right buyer comes by.

Happened to us today. Two kids Bike helmets been in the 3 yard sales started at $5, then down to $3, today Vendor bought for $1 each said she can sell them for $5 (guess she was honest because she was a cross from us) LOL Did not care take it away. They were still on her table at end of day.  ;). A few vendors picked us. Turn and burn.

Had a nice set of china not complete. Plates, desert plates, and the saucers, Priced at $1 for the set just wanted them gone. Had a couple discuss it for over 5 Min.  ??? It is a Dollar. LOL Had to load them up. Think will price them for $5 next weekend.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: How far are you willing to travel?

I have noticed though, many storage facilities around here put legal notices to the fact that the "units will be cleaned out and disposed of" not auctioned off.

Call them and make sure. We found one that dose not even run the legal. Have not been there yet, got the tip from another buyer.

We have travelled up to 50 miles. When we first started. Being new wanted to see other prices not better units. Our major storage facility (14 locations) advertises and the crowds and prices have been crazy. So we have been bouncing around. I still check the legals further out.  We found some that we will travel too, and skip the local Big Dog.  ;D

Auction hunting can be a day long event. We have been yard sale picking and that takes all day too.

Funny how different eyes see different things~

Think it is blind eyes.. (blind smiley)

We had one that was a kiln it really was a commercial dish washer (husband was one when he was a teen)

Husband hears more of that than I do. sometime he bust their bubble and sometimes not.  :D

I really wish I had a thirft store I could consign some stuff at.  In my area all of those stores are some of the very people I compete against for lockers.

Yes that has been a blessing to us. She does want to attend auctions, but she has no time, too busy running the store. Her husband is currently not working (construction). So he may attend. We went down there today. Boy am I glad he has not been working! With the dilemma of merchandise in the parking lot, her husband cleaned out two rooms that were not open (had just junk in them) the place looked really good.

We have a lot of consignment shops but they charge 50% and up. Too rich for my blood.  ;)

Ouch - they don't let you bring additional tables in?  Think I'd pass on that place.  Our flee you get a 10 x 10 space for $12 that comes with a wood table.

Yes we have two markets that are really messed up in my opinion.

We went to a new indoor market today. Nice place. They are open 6 days a week. a 12 X12 inside space $150 a month.  Out in a storage building $125 a month. Only good thing you sell when you want and you can leave your stuff there.  We liked it but not sure how to best utilize it yet. Did see a fellow storage buyer there.

Went to the one we have talked about and were wishy washy on.

We are in paid our money for Tomorrow. A whole $15 comes with 2 tables and we can bring some in. Like yours can us your parking space. They even knew what spaces were already taken.  :o LOL
It was busy today too. Talked to a Vendor (bought a pair of boots from him) husband was trying to haggle, So I told him we would be here Tomorrow so he could return the favour.  He said he cleared over $400 today. He also said he is normally only there on Sunday, and has not cleared that much in awhile.

So I am stoked we are finally moving forward on this part. Decided to only take what is already packed in the van. Cannot see out of the back. We mainly have the kids clothes so hope we sell a LOT. We did not see any vendors with kids clothes ++++++ There was a clothes vendor not there today, stuff covered up.

I am taking my clip board and will do my best on keeping a tally on the clothing. Will post that on the other thread. Hopefully it will be better than what we sold in our Yard. LOL

no worries. Graham is a little out of my reach.  I am about 2 hours away. It would have to be a major sale for me to go that far.

Thanks that is why threw it out there. Will take some time for it to happen anyway.  Maybe just some leads on where to sell. If and when it happens I will post a distress call to all the NC folks.  ;D

Talked with one of the guys that sales at the flea all the time.  During this time of year they have a 40% reduction in foot traffic.  Thus it's just not worth going out on Saturday for me.

That is what we have heard here too. So we are going to check on a new market (all in doors) today. Have decided the one we were planning on just not worth it. We have plenty of tables but that market you can not bring any in. So to get two tables have to rent two spaces. Plus the girl was not very helpful when we tried to give her our money. Go pick a spot then come back and I will tell you if is reserved or not. ???

Have our eyes out for some shelving. At the equipment Auction there were some like the produce stands, metal pipe like tripod with small wood shelves. Would work perfect but the bid went to high.  :(

We are going to the original market that we planned on months ago tomorrow.

Talked to the thrift she sold some things so that is a plus.

Got 4 of the 12 lkrs at one facility today...all 5 x 10s...for a total of $225. Should double I think. Nothing special, but anymore the bread and butter stuff is what pays the bills...and they are easy cleanouts...no furniture.

When I asked if this was their first buy, she piped up right away..."Oh no, this is our second!" I stifled my laugh especially when she said the first one was just yesterday!   ;D

Sounds like you did pretty good today.

With Rockin not sure I could have kept my composer on the laughter.  I would have asked is that one cleaned out yet? LOL

We have a few newbies that buy and hold, Wait to clean out.  And then they don't clean it at all.

Cause sometimes, just sometimes, I meet an individual that annoys me to such a great extent that I venture outside my natural state of "whatever" and feel the need to call them out.....

Make my husband walk away before it gets past that natural state of "whatever' LOL
