New to Storage Auctions? / Re: to buy a truck or not???
« on: July 27, 2011, 01:56:41 AM »
I would suggest even going lower than that, instead of putting the intial investment into a trailer, especially since you have not gotten your feet wet in this business, RENT a trailer or uhaul (or the like) truck. When you get a unit that is.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: I got an Auction coming up
« on: July 27, 2011, 01:55:21 AM »
Well a little heads up in my area, I have not been out, in what I think 2 months now, just got a call from one of the storage facilities to let me know about some up coming auctions later this week. He stated since these new Storage Auction shows are coming out, he is seeing even more people come out then they did when the first season was out for both shows. Although he did state for the most part right now they are just lookey loos.

If someone had a book on how to fix the economy do you think the book would have all the answers or just what most people lack? (COMMON SENSE)

Too bad I dont know how to write a GOOD book, cause if I did I think I would write one on how to fix this economy, :)

lol, was that in reference to me, :) thank you for the advice, but these are things I know :)

The Treasure Chest / Re: Small unit, nice find...

Yea, did a seven day auction on EBay, only got $42 for it. Should have sold it to one of you guys on the forum for $50 or $100! LOL

Now that is a shame. Sorry to say one that I would have not bought it, not a sports collector. Two that is how it goes sometimes at auctions. Ebay and other online auctions really do kill the profits for collectors and people who sell to collectors. Also do not forget that the economy is still not where it use to be.

There is a saying that I heard about a year ago, "Something is only as worth as someone is willing to pay you for it right then."

That is the very reason why I do not partner up with someone. Since you will always find something in there, or your partner will always find something in there, that one of ya'll just rather keep. It makes it much more difficult to split the profit evenly. Best thing to do, unless it is someone you absolutely trust, is buy the lockers on your own, and contract out the work that needs to be done.

Just wait till You get a Landlord Eviction Locker and find all the dirty smelly clothes in bags , the washer filled with damp stinky clothes , and the fridge filled with unidentifiable food .
Ps
Don't forget the garbage that got packed up too . ::)

ewww, bad memories, dont remind me, hope I do not get anything like that again, epecially since there was no real money in it.

Craigslist / Re: Pirated photos?
« on: July 21, 2011, 03:48:56 PM »
Like this:

This corner approach would be easy to get rid of; a better solution would be a watermark at a diagonal
across the entire main body of the pic.

And I agree, diagnol across the teh center or even several watermarks through out the photo would be good. The way that is displayed here, with only the corner I could DL the pic, crop out the corner, then it be mine,

General Storage Auction Talk / Needing a loan
« on: July 21, 2011, 02:06:05 AM »
And I do not mean I want any of you to loan me the money.

Since my budget and operating at this current time is minimal to none. IMO only because I am not able to buy in the volume I need to be buying in. I am looking to go through all the red tape and set up this business into a 100% complete legitimate with structure. Meaning, taxes, tax number, permits, box truck or at least trailer, maybe even renting an actual store, employees, registered business name, actual business account (instead of my personal one). Doing all this and more to get it all setup. Applying for at least a $5,000 loan for start up cost on inventory. Borrowing more as time goes by and business itself expands for the need of a physical location.

I know what some people say, I know what G. Cameron says. But I want to hear from anyone that has done these steps and get their opinion on it, experiences, and expertise.

The stainless steel bracelet, the shirt, and you can barely see it, sterling silver ring all came from storage units.
