Craigslist / Re: Ridiculous Craigslist Free Posts
« on: April 23, 2013, 03:47:26 PM »
lolyeah those are ridiculous. there actually are people who will do work for you for "free" if you let them keep scrap metal and things like that however that's only certain types of jobs those people would be interested in.

i think alot ofpeople put up stupid ads just for their amusement or to see if it will make it on best of craigslist.

i use paypal. there's better options out there, personally squared looks pretty attractive to me, especially with their flat rate plan however they dont have an option for putting buttons on your websites and thats where most of my transactions come from so that's a deterrant to me

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Good Part Time Income??
« on: April 23, 2013, 03:41:49 PM »
this is just my personal opinion but you really have to love what you do to be in storage auctions. there are other businesses that are going to be less time, less work and better margins. with storage auctions there's a thrill to the surprise of whats going to be in the unit, many people find it enjoyable networking and talking with others at auctions as well as when selling at flea markets and garage sales. if your strictly looking for some side money there's better ways but if you actually enjoy what you do yes y ou can make some money

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: I got suckered.
« on: April 23, 2013, 02:42:55 PM »
im surprised by how often i see people flipping or at least trying to flip things i sell on craigslist to another person. not sure there success or if they make money. i price my stuff at what i wanna sell it for, if someone else wants to resell it no skin off my back i made my money anyway and probably woudlnt have been willing to sit on it waiting for the right buyer anyway

yeah way back this was kind of an issue. in my area some of the facilities are taking your social security number and turning you over to collections if you dont pay. the couple hundred bucks you make off running a scam like this isn't worth ruining your credit unless your credit is already in the toilet anyway. technically this is fraud since they had the attempt to defraud hte storage facility as well ass bidders however it could never really be proven. this annoys me, anyone who's ever been in the storage auction game i would hope would never do this as you understand how much work it is, how thin margins can be and what a disapointment this would be if it happenned to you.

eBay / Did ebay recently change the "best match" search algorithm?
« on: April 23, 2013, 02:35:34 PM »
Recently I noticed the best match search function seems to have really changed alot. Wondering if anyone else has noticed and if maybe they have changed the algoritym. Myself and another ebayer were pretty much dominating the top 3-4 pages of search results. Basically overnight all my items fell to being several hundred items deep under various search terms. havn't really been able to climb back up despite playing with different keywords, adding higher quality pictures, free shipping on everything, 14 day returns, etc. nothing seems to help. just curious if its just me or if anyone else noticed this as well?

also, i notice a lot of smaller sellers with cheaper items are getting top ranking where as before it was higher dollar items and bigger sellers with stores, top rated sellers, etc.

eBay / Re: Drop Shipping Using eBay
« on: April 23, 2013, 02:33:23 PM »
nothing about that article is really unique to drop shippers its kind of all good ebay practices for everyone. the worst thing you can do is add your own stupid policies like must pay in 24 hours. makes you come off as gruff and also despite you putting it in you listing it cant be enforced as ebay rules, tos, and policies trump aything you put in your listing.

as for drop shipping.im a drop shipper. good niche product, nice margins and not a lot of competition. if anyone is looking to get more into ebay hit me up and we can talk.

eBay / Re: Ebay Shipping is killing me
« on: April 23, 2013, 02:30:49 PM »
yeah make sure you take into account your getting hit with fees on shipping which can really add up on more expensive shipping items. ebay prices are pretty low so chances are if you can't unload an item on craigslist there's not gonna be much interest on ebay, especially taking into consideration a hefty shipping cost

eBay / Re: Man I love old cameras and their accessories
« on: April 23, 2013, 02:28:57 PM »
polaroids are really hot right now since that company started remaking polaroid film. they go for a good price on ebay but im surprised that urban outfitters is selling the rainbow polaroid camera for almost $200.

eBay / Re: Selling jeans internationally
« on: April 23, 2013, 02:27:55 PM »
ebay has a new program called ebay global, not sure if you have to be invited or if its open to everyone but basically you ship your product to an ebay sorting facility and ebay ships the item internationally for you. basically once you get the package in ebays hand which is a domestic shipment they take care of the rest and all the libalility.

sounds like  a really interesting program, i was psyched ot try it out however unfortunately they dont allow my ebay category in the program.

eBay / Re: eBay has a sense of humor !
« on: April 23, 2013, 02:25:07 PM »
lol. i know it sounds crazy but some of these drop shippers who dont have to physically handle products actually do carry a product catologue in the tens if not maybe even hundreds of thousands of items. for most people it would be difficult if not impossible to do this because of the duplicate listing policy, however if you have automated software you can actually put up a lot of acutions in a relatively short period of time
