General Storage Auction Talk / Do you all get alot of family
« on: October 20, 2011, 03:02:03 PM »
stuff like toys and beds, etc Like massavie amounts in ever shed? Or is it my state of  Utah due to the average family here is 6 people to a house? Pros and cons of Utah is we have the best econmy in the USA cons is huge family so here we get massive amounts of kids cloth and toys. KID to kid stores buys the cloth but at a low rate.

today i hesitated to bid on a unit that very well could have been the jackpot all cus there where 2 mattresses and this auction was quite a ways away from my house, there was a trek mountain bike that i know retails for about 700 an army bag that clearly said 1912 and very sturdy pastic bins with straps this was indoors and it went for 200 it was a steal but i hesitated cus of the mattresses.

so the question is , has anyone else hesitated as they where fairly new to the scene?
Hey ya get lazy you pay. You either want to make money or you dont. But I did the same thing last weekend on a unit full of yard care equipment went for 350 bucks There was a couch and tree libs I didnt want move. I was lazy so I let the other guy make a huge profit.

Lol - looks like some nice auctions if they all come up.  But what the hell would I do with a vending machine??????

Good luck if you go.
Well you wouldnt want to put them in a bussiness or a school! Cause then you would have to goto a costco or sams club and buy product and charge 4x the amount. Im with ya on not buying a vending machine. My back hurts from a full wallet of money when I sit down. The last thing I want to do is make money from a vending machine  :o :o ::)

Or just go old school! If it looks good bid if not pass. Get things to complicated you loose. You know what will sell and what wont. Keep it simple. Keep it simple!

Flea Markets / Re: Flea Market Revenue ?
« on: October 19, 2011, 09:57:08 AM »
That sounds cheap enough.

My reserved spot (4 parking spots wide) is $40 for a Saturday and is paid in advance for a month.
The dailies pay $15 a spot (1 car parking space) and can take 1 to 3 spaces. The bad part for them is they are not guaranteed to get in!  In the spring and summer this is a problem. Our winter in California is mild (can be rainy though) but at least we can sell...don't have to be at an indoor venue.  Today (Sunday, Jan 30th) it rained and the Sunday sellers had a day off...and no income.

The one i goto cost 25 for one car spot and 50 for two spot plus 50.00 deposit you get back at the end of the day.

As of 5:45 p.m. on Monday, 10/18/2011 the ad was no longer available.

Ad #17711737 not found!

The ads are free to post. I heard it was illegal for the storage company to give such info out and that is why the ad was deleted.

Did you contact the storage facility to see if the buyer returned your personal items to them? Here in MA, like many other states, it's required by law, but even if it wasn't required by law I would still do it. Call them and ask.
Even if it is required by law how can the person prove it was in there? Unless the storage company rumaged through the unit. Thats illegal. So my question would be prove it was in there.

They were looking to buy their stuff back so if they are will to pay the asking price why not ?
Would never back at asking price! If I were to sell they would have to pay for gas, wear and tear on truck, time spent loading and unloading. would have to tap on extra 800 to price and thats if i was in a giving mood.

Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Hunters is FAKE!!!
« on: October 17, 2011, 09:43:37 AM »
Obviously all reality shows use a lot of editing and make story lines as real life isn't as exciting as a story line but I would at least like the characters on the show to be real people and not actors and like the show to have some basis in reality.

I was watching animal planet the other day while channel surfing and there were guys catching a snake. Taking a closer look I noticed one of the guys was Ton, the bald guy from auction hunters. This leads me to believe both these guys are actors and the show is totally fake.

Obviously Storage Wars drums up drama and makes a story line but I'm pretty sure all those guys are actually real people who attend auctions and run resale shops.

This kinda ruins the show for me. I can't say I'm surprised though. I used to watch Black Gold the oil show based in Odessa Texas. A buddy of mine recently moved down there and told me they were actually having casting calls for guys to be on teh show. Again, another "reality" show taht uses actors and is totally fake.
Its called tv. And adv companys arent going to pay top dollar to advertise if the show cant keep the attention of the audience. Storage bors and AH shows make the ad companys money for a reason.
