Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Scene #1...January, 2012

It's do-able.  I have only been doing this now 7 months, but the one Spot I have is a life savior to me.

Yes we have been doing other buying sources. Last Auction prices were not bad, Have seen a lot worse at that facility. We just went to see what was happening locally. LOL And bought one. For a grand total of $23.23. Big spenders.  :D

Most of the lookers were just that lookers. Not Crazies.

I think I am skipping the widely advertised sales until things settle down. There are far better opportunities where the newbies haven't discovered.

We have been waiting for over 6 months. Sure others longer.

Less advertised better, but they are finding them too.

Yikes......let's not mention it to her until I find out more.  She sounds a bit high maintenance when it comes to shopping.

you nailed her... LOL

And I know I've got to do e-bay, but I hate it.  I sold a necklace years ago and the lady wasn't happy.  She sent it back, I refunded her money (less the shipping fee) and she ripped me in the feedback.  I've not sold another thing (this was 4 years ago).  I like for the customer to see, hold and be sure of the item.  I'm a bit thin-skinned when it comes to my (selling) reputation.
New to the selling on ebay and the reputation thing rides me hard too. Husband ask did you get the stuff on ebay, does not understand I want to keep up with what I have started on the feedback, so I am slow at getting it on there but need to do it money just sitting around in inventory.  :-[

My daughter bought something off Amazon and found the item cheaper at Walmart (sometimes she is a blonde  ;) )  In the feed back she put that, The seller made her feel like crap for ruining their reputation she was all upset.

One of my first sells I said it was labelled something and and I was wrong. Buyer put that in the feed back but loved it anyway and was keeping it. Next buyer made sure he put as describe in his feed back. Think buyers on ebay understand some negative stuff. Maybe.  :)

So get back to it Rockin.  ;D And I will do the same.

Can I interest them in a litho?
It's funny~I had heard the name, but knew little about him.  Don was like 'who?'.  So yesterday at the auction I shouted out to the crowd of about 60 "Does anybody know who Toulouse Lautrec is?"  Not one person did.  A bit later a guy showed up and I asked him and he said "all I know is they've done a movie or two about him and he's a little French guy." :D

Friend travelled in Europe so she found out about him I only know because of her. LOL

She might be interested but she is a pain when comes to buying things. Always feels she is getting ripped off and then she rips herself off. (born with a silver spoon) LOL
I will ask her for ya but don't get your hopes up. I don't like sending friends to her, or really doing any kind of business with her. LOL

Is this the freebie that they threw in?? If so, then that is awesome.

I wished. Paid $50 for it and a TV. The TV for sale for $40. So almost free. Could say paid $25 for it.

So still I nice score.

The freebie was the console radio. Turn table with 8 track.  Thrift has it playing in the store. Let her price it think she wants to much, will let it stay for a month to see if someone is that crazy. Then lower the price.

free taco from Jack in the Box, but only if you act now (tax not included).  Befuddled, he set the gnome down and shouted "I wish I'd never bought this blasted locker."  Suddenly a voice boomed down and said "That's one!"  "NO!!!!" he shouted.  Just then...................

a good fairy came down and bopped him on the head and said Little rabbit foo foo stop scooping up the gnomes and bopping them in the head or............

Opinions are like A$$ wholes everybody has one.  ;)

I love the comments of that was too much for that, Oh they are going to loose money.

The value in a unit is what you the individual can sell it for.  Noobies excluded.  :D

We get laughed at all the time. We sell the heck out of the cheap furniture. Turn and burn. The laughing has stopped when we keep coming back.

good score.

Sounds like a good one.

You keep finding our jewels.  :P (not one yet this is Fl were people come to die  ;) without their treasures)

Think the art thing would drive me nuts too, but would like the potential of that kind of profit.

Best friend loves Toulouse Lautrec.

"Her daughter Lana died of lung cancer"    giving me the creeps, That is my name. Not a very popular one so unusual to see it pop up and be dead.  :o

Glad you will do well on this one.

Thanks for the help doing better on it. We have picked up some goodies the past couple of days.

The antique the lady was using as a dresser is a side board.
Found on identical to the one we got for sale on local classified for $2000.
Called the thrift and said don't sell, we had it priced at $100. (which I thought was to low) will try and sell it else ware would be happy at $400. Ours is missing a top mirrored piece which looks gaudy to me.

The small kids table already sold.  :D

Some how missed the graduation time for the university.  ::) Maybe this term we will be better at getting there for the curb side.  :)

sounds like you are always looking keep it up. You should do well.  :)

Always have that yes we are going to do good on this and then after you get closer looks start questioning Oh I hope we break even.

Part of the biz.

We have done ok so far. One that was really bad is over the cost of the unit. So glad of that.
With a few things left to sell.

good luck with it hope you break even.

If I hit an auction with 200 people in my area I'm just going home.  Most I've seen so far has been about 80 people.

Today I felt like leaving before we got started. But glad we didn't with our little score. Have to figure out how to ID the tail lights.

Hard not to buy something, dispite the prices, when your teenage daughter wants to spend time with old dad.

True but don't go crazy she want want to hang out with a frustrated Dad.  ;)
