General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Got my first two units
« on: July 12, 2011, 12:48:47 AM »
Just a quick update on my units. We ended up keeping about $100.00 worth of items including 8 nice totes with lids and a 6ft Lifetime folding table, and a bunch of fleece loungewear for my daughters.  Have total sales of $325.00 so far, with about $125.00 left to go. The most valuable thing is my wife is totally on board and did research and made sales for me.

Totes are a good keep, hell at this point I would have to consider myself a hoarder when it comes to totes. Wonder if that is bad?

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Sorting advice
« on: July 12, 2011, 12:46:39 AM »
Believe me and I'm certain many others even us old timers agree that every quarter, dime, nickle and penny counts. I've been doing this and estates for a long time and I still dig in every nook and crany. 4 years ago my wife and I took a ten day Alaskan Cruise and we had enough money from all the change we gathered over the previous 5 years to pay for all the spending money we used on the cruise including excusions. I ended up with over 2K in misc. coins gathered up from all those nooks and crannies so keep on digging.

Now thats INSPIRATION :)

Craigslist / Re: Free Living

I use to do it, and I may start doing it again. Just dont like using up all that gas running all over town. Should check out freecycle as well. All of that stuff is free.

The Treasure Chest / Re: Small unit, nice find...

Id say anywhere form $50 to $150. Should be able to sell it rather quickly. Dont go to a sports store though, they will usually undercut you big time.

Some things I open right on the spot to fill my curiousty, but for the most part it all goes with me and gets sorted off site.

The Treasure Chest / Re: My inventroy Locker
« on: July 10, 2011, 09:59:04 PM »
Oh ya, the facility lets me sell out of my unit. They knew why I got the locker to begin with. They were a little upset that I started to bring customers directly onsite, but quickly got over it seeing that if I dont get paid, then my locker dont get paid for. :)

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Bonanza
« on: July 09, 2011, 11:01:50 PM »
Hi,
I've been listing items on Bonanza.com, so far I've sold 3 items since 6-16-2011.  It might not seem like much, but I don't have too many items listed yet.  It reminds me of Ebay years ago!  Here's their fees:  FOV (Final Offer Value) under $500 is 3.5% of FOV.  FOV greater than $500 is $17.50 + 1.5% of the amount over $500.  $0.50 cent minimum fee.  There are no listing fees or buyers premiums.

Hope this helps!  Healthe :)

I know about them, nice community too. I have yet used them for sales, but my grandmother does alot of arts n craft type stuff and sells them there.

Craigslist / Re: Pirated photos?
« on: July 09, 2011, 11:00:48 PM »
I really wouldn't be too conerned about it. As others have said its not like they have hackd your account they just copy and reuse your pic from the posting. Plus there's not much you cna do about it. Even protected pictures can be saved with a pretty easy step.

One thing thats easy to do is put a watermark with your email address or website name over the pic. Not going to stop someone from using it buy buyers may wonder why that persons email doesn't match the pic

Now that is a good idea, at the least you might even be able to get them for copyright fraud :)

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Worst Unit?
« on: July 07, 2011, 12:08:27 AM »
Btw-there is this long piece 12' of boat wood/ driftwood . Has anyone had any luck selling an item like that? I was thinking of cutting it in half, just to handle it easier. Good or bad idea?

On this, there are buyers out there for this type of stuff, it is just finding them, and I would have no idea what to charge for it. But people that would be interested,
Artist
Home Designers
Possible a museum (if you can link it to something of importance and significant)
some one that collects ocean type things, boat collectors, drift wood itself, etc.

I do not think it would be any harm to cutting it in half unless there is some importance to the piece you have, then it would decrease the value tremendously.
