All the standard: birth/marriage/death certs. Tax info. Ect....

Also pictures (take out of album if you want it).  Cards (body, Xmas....).
Don't have to but trophy's, awards,  things like wedding glasses etched with name.

Pretty liberal and fair on what's considered "personal"......it you think it may be sentimental, personal.
Sentimental but spendy and you can sell....suddenly not so personal.   ;)

I think sex toys are pretty dang personal, they don't.

man i wish i could leave plaques and trophies. this one unit i bought was a great unit but one hassle was these people were involved in some type of pyramid scheme mlm travel program or marekting program. i literally had a half dozen LARGE walmart totes packed to the brim with palques, awards, trophies, etc. the stuf weighted a ton and took up a ton of space. could have saved myself a whole load just leaving that stuf.

Bad News/Good News...About a year ago I sold 3 items (packed in two priority large flat ate boxes)...tracking #'s said they were delivered... 3 weeks later he messages me " ummm, have you shipped the boxes"?...huh,what?... I say yep they've been delivered per tracking... actually a nice guy after several phone conversations,...( and me going to my Post office several times)I believe he didn't get them...so he got his $263.00 plus $30.00 (shipping) total investment back from me...AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!... but it was the right thing to do...that was in Feb,2012...... sometime in JULY,2012,guess what?... TWO boxes show up on my doorstep  marked UNDELIVERABLE !!!! again HUH,WHAT??called the guy and offered them again,he passed...so now the GOOD NEWS... relisted them..all 3 items sold within three weeks ( BIN/Make Offer)...Total Sales amount second time around...$470.00 + shipping  ... karma?luck?who knows...

with me everything over 250 gets a signature but im the same way, i know post office makes mistakes if someone were to claim package never arrived a week or two later and seemed genuine id probably replace the package instead of refund as thats less money out my pocket obviuosly my items cost me less than i sell them for. i figured after two months though the guy should have had time to contact me so just wasn't willing to budge. also it was out of the paypal and ebay coverage periodl

Those involved in storage auctions, picking & re-selling as a business; what do you think is the greatest obstacle to overcome so you can grow/upscale your business?

Personally I think it's the risk of inventory shrinkage (theft/damage) by adding employees or more employees to your operations.

Your "eyes" can't be everywhere, so if you hire people to clean out the units, load and unload the inventory, sort inventory, work at your store, etc. There is a high risk of the best items dissapearing before you ever knew you had them. Add in carelessness, lack of work ethic; and you get damaged furniture, electronics, broken glassware, antiques, collectibles, etc.

Not only that your gross sales must overcome the compensation you are paying your employees/contractors as well.

that would be my worry as well with other businesses you buy specific inventory and have inventory controls. with this you hire someone you dont know and you dont know what merchandise you have very easy for a gold necklace, coins, cash to slip into someones pocket

There I one facility that not only wants the personal items, they have a list of things to leave.
They even allow you to leave it in the unit.

I tried to say mattresses seem pretty personal.....I lost that argument.

curious what other things they say are ok besides photos and legal docs? i wish i coulg leave more junk with facility

Craigslist / Re: Here's How To Handle Craigs List Scammers
« on: February 04, 2013, 01:49:53 PM »
I beg to differ. I never hesitate to report those lowlifes scumbags that run scams or use auto-posting software. It takes some persistence, but the ads always seem to go away after a couple of days. I fully encourage everyone to report all of these type of ads posted by these cheaters.

its one thing to click the report button, it's a whole nother thing to respond to the emails as thy then have collected your email address and will continue to spam you as well as sell your email to othr scammers and spammers. also i click the report button as well but they got up ten more ads before your one gets taken down

Craigslist / Re: CL Sellers are nuts too.....
« on: February 04, 2013, 10:39:27 AM »
yeah i sometimes get annoyed like if i wanted to sell it for 50 i woulda listed it for 50 but i get your point i often wsh i woulda held onto someones email so after i sat on something for a few weeks nad realize im not gonna get my desired price i could flip it for a quick eays profit. that said it does get frusting posting sonmething like a motorcycle for $3000 and being offerd 400 or having people send you a list of item like nintendo controler, tv remote, toaster, cugi sweatshirt, kitchen utensils and be like ill trade you all this for your bike lol

if anyone knows of a program thats cheap and you've tried please let me know. i looked into these progrms and anything i found to be decent and trustworthy i found was $700 plus. the downside being besides price craigslist is constantly keeping up with this nad if they do a fix and your program is null and void a week after you bought it your out all that money. its probably not worth the time or energy doing it for storage auctins because our items are so varied it would be beter for a seller or store who had a consistant stock of stuff they are always selling

LOL! It isn't much of a hassle at all... Just a couple of clicks and done.

Phil

your right it doesnt take much time and if it makes you feel better go for it but your not sticking it to anyonbe as its all autoresponders nad takes the scammers no time to put up more ads or respond to your emails and your risking getting your email put on lists and stuff. if you ever start getting emails about nigerian lotteries or from yahoo or paypal saying you need to click a link b/c they detected spam its all from you replying to craigslist emails

Craigslist / Re: Does anyone use the barter section on Craigslist?
« on: February 04, 2013, 10:32:02 AM »
i love the barter section. sure you get idiots offering you a toaster and a vhs player for your motorcycle but there's good deals to be had. what i like about barter is i may have an item with a lot of valu to someone else but its almost a throwaway item to me and vice versa with the item the other person has. you can workout a good deal basically giving up nothing and getting something great.

i used to make and sell beanbag aka cornhole toss games. it would cost me abuot $12 in supplies to make a game and at the time they didnt sell them in stores so i could sell for anywhere from $75- $200. I'd post in barter section i want tickets to concerts, sporting events, etc. alot of guys have company season tickets they pay nothing for which have no value to them if hty are going to game but are valuable to me if i want to attend or easy to resell. d

id normally get abouty 4 tickets so i could sell for anywhere from 100-200 and i picked them up for $12 worth of lumber and a half hour of my time if that. i got bon jovie tickets to take my gf to concert, lots of chicag bears tickets, sox, etc.

then stores started selling crap bulsa wood and palstic games for dirt cheap and the business went away

eBay / Re: Mary Padian's eBay Sales Flop
« on: February 04, 2013, 10:27:11 AM »
yeah im no expert on the items she has but seems very high priced. wonder if she's sold any of those autographed photos lol

553
they may as well just do away with sellers leaving feedback for buyers because we can only leave positive feedback so its nothing or positive, whats the point of that. then someone leaves an items they bought sitting unpaid for two weeks after several contacts telling you "im gonna pay get paid on friday the 15th and then they want good feedback tooo

ill always return personal stuff i know what a headache it can be to get some of those docuemnts when you dont have much to show as proof to get them. i also know it can cost huge sums of money and headache applying to diff agenceis for licenses, birth certificates, car titles, etc. i figure its less stuff for me to trash as well.
