Glendon in my opinion, is an expert in this field, but he is also an expert in marketing. That is his thing, marketing and selling himself, and he is real good at that. I bought his book, and for me, I was a little disappointed, alot of it is common sense, HOWEVER, for people that know very little to nothing at all, his book will help tremendously. For me, I learned some, not as much as I was expecting. So that choice will be yours if you buy his book. I do not know how much you already know, so I cant recommend the book to you, and its only because I do not know what you know in this business.

Craigslist / Re: Pirated photos?
« on: July 05, 2011, 10:32:52 PM »
actually there is no 100% way to protect your photos, even if you have the no right click java script enabled on your page that has the photos. You can always view source, php can hide that exact source code, but certain programs can get pass that, especially if that person is using FF. You can make it more difficult, but never truly protect them. Sorry

nice unit, harley and coca cola stuff sells pretty well. Should have no problem selling those at a decent price. The restraunt stuff, like the straws, napkins and such. May not sell that well, could be wrong, but I know I would have a hard time selling them since you can always go to sam's, costcos, and get them pretty much pennies on the dollar. It would be something I keep and use for myself. So with that, I would guess 100 for what is shown in the photo for restaurant supply stuff, is rather steep.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: WHY are some lockers empty?
« on: July 01, 2011, 11:22:27 PM »
Yeah im thinking the storage renters everywhere are catching on and getting their stuff out cause they don't want us owning it. Wonder if we will start seeing more empty units in the future because of exposure on television.

Even if that does happened now, later on it will revert back to the way it was. People still get over confident about losing their stuff, people still get behind on bills, life still throws curve balls at all of us. These things will never change, it is just now, people are being more cautious, sooner or later that will disapear.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Scrap metal - is it worth it?

Really depends on personality and characteristics. Plenty of people make a living doing scrap metal. But just like reselling goods, there is work and knowledge involved.

Craigslist / Re: Ever get contacted by previous owner?
« on: June 30, 2011, 05:38:35 PM »
I have a question that goes along with his:

Will Clist listen to you if you do have an original owner, who knows that they owned the stuff, and the person keeps flagging your postings for removal.  I have had mine flagged before for various reasons, such as someone getting mad because I would not take thier low-ball offer on an item.

One way someone would think that you have their stuff is because if you have like 10 or 20 items listed in the area where you won the auction, and the items matched theirs exactly.

Anyways, I agree with ya'll.  If you won an auction, all of the items are yours.  You won the items legally and paid for them.

Overall CL does not really care, either that they just dont have the time to deal with it. They have a very small over head, employees only consist of a small office with a handful of people. I want to say it is below 10. Which is why they leave all the flagging to the system itself, which is rare, and other CL users. The way the deal with being flagged is go to their USER forum threads, which is full of ass holes, and clueless people that give CL a bad name, and reposting your ad.

Garage Sales / Re: My neighborhood sucks
« on: June 30, 2011, 12:25:03 AM »
Well I have not doen any yard sales in awhile, mostly because I am discouraged about it all. However, CL is not doing so well, to many low priced items, the good ones flew off the shelf. Been thinking about doing another yard sale for the last 2 weeks, but just been lazy about it. Probable next weekend, wont do it over 4th of july weekend. Going out of town to the coast for some much needed fun n the sun.

Only if you consider me, wife, and two kids (9 and 10) as being a large operation.

And that is one of the reasons I hold a policy of NO CONTACT with the original tenant. YOU DONT WANT TO LOSE YOUR STUFF, PAY THE DAMN BILL.

Well if anyone form this site goes, I know I would love to hear what the finds are.

I have come across a few good things going through everything. But also alot of bad things. I do not recommend using latex gloves, I recommend either mechanic or construction gloves. Two of my 10 units so far had drug paraphernalia. First one had alot of meth pipes and razors, one of the razors literally cut my glove. So it was a good thing I had gloves on. The other lkr had alot of used needles. That was one unit I decided not to dig in the clothes, I just felt on the outsides to see if the pockets had any thing in them.
