I did and they seem to be reader not storage buyers. I was at that auction and the books my friend bought was a great score. Prices here in Utah are way better than the rest of the places in america. Maybe cause we have the best eeconomy  and low unemployment. And the fastest growing state in america. For some reason we do it right in Utah . Dont ask me why. I didnt even know we were in a recessions.

And these were great units. Look what they went for. And like I said prices are DOWN. People spend more money to have there stuff shipped in crates. And at the prices these went for were perfect

This question is mainly for J.R.- Auctionone, but anyone else can chime in too.

J.R.,

The "old timers" say units are selling for 4 to 10 times what they would have before the TV shows.

For ex. a $250 unit now sells for $1000, a $10 unit now sells fro $100.

With your experience of doing auctions since 1981, what is your best guess as to how far back the prices for units will fall after the excitement of all TV shows has worn off?

I would agree a month ago but in my state the prices for LIVE action not online are comming way down from what they were say 3 months ago.

574
Thats why I wonder about on online bidding

575
Yeah, once you find those little gem places, you keep those to yourself.  I don't think I'd ever post a question on a unit from the first place I bought, again.  Not saying I don't trust people here, I don't trust people to do a simple google search and get tips to my sweet spot.
Like I was saying prices have dropped. Went to 8 on friday and 7 on saturday and the prices were great. The highest went for 600 and that was for a packed 12x30 unit and the auction company said we could use the dumpsters.

Flea Markets / Re: flea market noob
« on: September 26, 2011, 12:55:31 PM »
i have been trying my hand at craigslist and cant seem to sell much as in my areas not many people have money. but after my first unit i dont have many items that are low priced most the things i have are 50-200 dollars easily and theres about 15 items or so of that and only a handful of items that are on the cheap end.

i guess my question is... is it reasonable to sell my high priced items at flea markets or how should i go about doing that? i was thinking just going to them with a certian price on them but also have a sign that says make offer to try and get rid of these items so i can go to more auctions faster.

any advice on this would be helpful or if someone could let me know a good place to sell these high value items fast would be great also.
And like I said a while back with everyone doing the same thing buy units at auction there is too much supply and not enough demand. For every 10 things you had to compete with as far as selling now there are 40 to 50 of the same products.

The show is for entertainment purposes only! No one said the show was 100% real. But I agree with you the show is fake. Its like sayin did you see hulk hogan body slam that guy? When he stood up there was no blood but when the camera sung back at him he was bleeding all over. Fake,Fake Fake

It all just depends really.  I think more people are paying up then before.  Since I'm new to the scene I don't know what the percentage was before.  However, in my area a good 50-70% of the units posted in the paper get paid up.

As for the items in the lockers.  Many still don't look like they have been touched.  The last unit I purchased had dust / webs everywhere and was 6 years old.

As for valuables - I think it's still staying at the same rate.  I've yet to find gold, jewelry, or such in a unit.  I do know some weeks back one of the regulars found a .25 pistol.  Most everything else is the normal matress, cloths, furniture that makes up 80% of the units.
This is true! My friend is a storage manger and he is getting less and less of units to auction due to people paying like never before. He told me that they discuss the tvs and they would hate to have there stuff lost at auction.

wake up call for those who rent storage units? Thinking to themselves I could loose my unit so anything of value I wont leave in my shed. Maybe units will be packed with less and less of things of value. With over a half million viewers per week what % of those viewers are close to loosing the unit at auction. This show in my opinion is going to de value what a person can find compared to be for all the attention. What will people do that quit there jobs to open a store cause they thought this was going to be the easyiest money theve every made. Its funny people think its as easy to sell as it is to buy a unit. With everyone doing it there is more supply then there is of demand for such common things found in a unit. ;D
