oh yea that was another concern I had. When they say it must be swept clean, what exactly does that entail? I mean, obviously you empty the unit and then sweep it but are there any actual guidelines for that?

It is just so they can rent it without doing anything. Just sweep out. Look out for the units with grease and oil. Here they expect that cleaned up too.

Rockin that sounds like us last month. We are heading out tomorrow new facility for us.
This one ran another ad for the auction, Said auction the date and furniture boxes and lots more,  should be interesting  the auctions are slim around here.
One advantage it is at 8:00 AM.  ;)

We passed on the auction on the 4th, we are freezing down here it was 21 degrees in Florida WTH.
It was quite a drive and the unit count had dropped.

Let you know how it goes.

Good luck tomorrow and everyone has given you great advice.

We tie everything off. (two of us so pretty fast) But too we look like the Beverly Hillbillies stack as high as we can.. LOL

One thing you will notice is how people empty the units. On one of our caravans unless it is a pack 10 x 20, they are loaded with their stuff at the next location. FAST.  ;D

Take a roll of black trash bags and a broom with you. If you do pick up one there is usually loose stuff, or the bags that were used are ripped,  and you can sweep it out.

Have fun.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

We received some free stuff from our neighbour.  We got about 200 plant nursery pots, found a small nursery willing to trade for them. Got 8 tree's (3gal and 1 gal) and 4 grasses. Plus a new contact for nursery things and some plants of mine he wants. All good.

Also got a trampoline frame turned it into a green house it is really cool.

Bartering is great. We barter when we do our yard sale for the space. She usually finds something she wants and then after all is said and done we give her some of our inventory for her to sell. We don't charge her for the things she wants. We keep our cash and pay for our spot.

« on: January 03, 2012, 06:57:22 AM »
Have not been to an advertised with auctioneer estate auction yet.

The ones we have found are kinda like a yard sale and they are selling everything. Usually we are hitting them on late Saturday afternoon. Lucked up in a few good buys. One we had to go back on Sunday to pick up and got a few more things really discounted.

Like everything else you want know until you go. I would go everyday and see what the out come is.

Did see one advertised prices were retail, talked to another auction hunter he said hey that auctioneer is high. We could not make it so don't know for sure.

Good luck.

We are all learning.

We visit antique shops all the time (now my husband might take more time looking at the smalls there) See stuff, that much for that!!!! But good information to know.

Sounds good. You don't make as much money with consignment but does free your time of selling ect. But there is money to be made.

CL is good for furniture sell low and it will move fast.  :)

Good luck

Our first auction is also on Wednesday Jan 4th.  ;D

Another on Friday.

Checked out our local auctioneer that has the most facility's all the auctions are cancelled.   :(
Not that we have bought one form their auctions so maybe not all bad.

So looks like might be a slow month on the auction scene for us. Maybe we can get rid of our current inventory.  ;)

Happy Hunting.  :D

Glad we could help  ;D

I never thought about consignment because who would want to go into business with an 18 year old with an unreliable schedule due to school?

Think you are miss understanding a consignment shop. You take them stuff and they do all the work of selling it. They charge for this service though. Ours charges us 20%, most in our area charge 50%. Some have rules of what they will accept. Hope that clarifies it.

Have fun at the auction and let us know what you learn.
