I remember way back before the tv shows came on and before pictures of units were posted online people bidding over the phone. I never understood it as all they really had to go on ws the facility manager or auctioneer assistant giving them a breif description.

that said back then units were going so cheap you coudn't really go wrong.

yeah its frustrating when you follow an auction circuit around all day or attend auctions all day and dont really have anything to show for it besides wasted time and guess. that said better to not waste money and walk away empty handed than buy a bad unit and waste money and time just trying to recoup most of your loses

Check out a few of the things I found out in Brooklyn last week. http://www.oplockdown.com/category/storage-auction-finds

wow you got some really cool stuff and not just cool in the sense of high dollar value itms because those are a dime a dozen but really intereting items you aren't going to find in stores. i especially like the cow skin rug, is that real leather?

when you find interesting items like that how do you assess the value or even find out what they are if they dont have any markings? im talking mroe about the artwork and scuptures and interesting horn piece nad things like that. if something has markings its easy to do some googling but if not where do you even being?

thanks for the tips guys, yeah I basically told the guy a. the package shows it was deliverd. b. i know post office does make mistakes and had he contacted me in a timely manner heck I may have even helped him out either with a refund or reshipping a package which would be cheaper for me than a refund. i told him two months had passed and if there was an issue he should have brought it up in a timely manner. he accused me of getting the package back and keepiong it however i told him if that wer the case tracking woudnt' show delivered it would show attempted delivery and then show it being rerouted back to my addrss. the guy never contacted me after that and seemed to give up pretty easy so wondering if he was just trying to get a freebie. it was through ebay and not my site so over 45 days had passed so he had no recourse through paypal or ebay and sinc it wasnt through my website and i dont openly advertise our eba store as our business there's really no negative publicity either so thats how ti went down. in general im happy to come out of my pcoket to make a customer happy but im not going to be taken advantage of or let people come back months later with complaints or aying they didnt receive anything

Could you even file a claim with the shipping company on a transaction that old?

I would think with USPS, Fedex, or UPS thta would be past deadlines however I ship USPS and their clains process is a joke so it woudn't even be worth opening up a claim. If it comes to me having to open a USPS claim I'll just go ahead and refund the customer or send a new package and if I ever get the package back cool if not I just consider it cost of doing business. OVerall usps is very good but if you have an issue forget about it.

I dont understand the logic behind why someone woudl want to bid and not buy but I'm a member of some internet marketer and ecommerc forums and I do know that people setup many ebay accounts and let them sit dormant for years and then sell them. I guess they sell them to people who have had their ebay accounts closed or suspended. There seems to be some bonuses to having an established account over a new one. Again i dont get how its beneficial to have an old account with no feedback or why someone would buy and not pay but thought that would be interesting to mention

lately i been getting a lot of buyers who leave me sitting and then after multiple attempts to contact themthey say something like i will pay next friday when i get paid. i hate this if someone doesnt have money wait to buy or at the very least contact me first and ask if its okay if you wait two weeks to pay. not much we as wellers can do about it. if thye dont pay they get an unpaid item strike however thye are allowed three per month and there's really not much effect to getting them.

i think alot of people bid on stuf and then decide they dont want it or find a cheaper price. now all my items are buy it now immediate payment required

eBay / Re: Is it possible to scam eBay & PayPal?
« on: January 22, 2013, 11:08:10 AM »
I believe it could be done but only with an established account, I believe new accounts have the 21 day hold where you have to provide tracking showing delivery and wait 3 days after that or wait the full 21 days.

With an established account you woudln't have the hold but why burn up an established account you could make more money with for a one time cashout.

I think the biggest scam out there is buyers who know how to work the system and know uneducated sellers who send items over $250 without tracking and signature is automatically means thye get their money back or buyers who know how to work the system taking advantage of loopholes and selers who dont cover their butts

Okay so I have an ecommerce store and also sell on ebay. I just had a customer contact me yesterday, very vague email said I never got my package and left a tracking number, left me no other info such as name, order number, nothing.

I wind up tracking the package and digging through past orders and manage to find his order. He ordered back on November 22, 2012, package. Tracking shows package was delivered November 23, 2012.

Order shows delivered, I know post office could have delivered to wrong house and had the guy contacted me prompty I may have even sent another package but two months later seems extreme. He is out of his paypal and ebay period to get a refund or leave feedback.

What would you do, give refund or tell him it shows delivered and he took to long to say anything? I told him not only shows delivered but why wait two months to bring this to our attention. He now is trying to say the package came back to me and I kept it. I told him tracking would show it was returned.

btw, item was about $80 to replace item would cost me about $50. WHat would you have done?

eBay / Re: Have you ever been dinged by negative feedback?
« on: January 18, 2013, 02:31:33 PM »
I had an international twit give me negative feedback because he didn't know he had to pay import duties. He somehow though it was my fault that this country sets and implements those charges. We messaged back and forth several times and I explained import duties have nothing to do with a seller or eBay. He wanted me to reimburse him the fees to which I said no, so he gave me negative feedback citing high import duties as the reason.

i stopped doing business with international customers for this reason. if something gets held up in customs, shipping takes longer, etc the buyer always seems to blame us sellers for things that are otu of our control and thing that will happen to any international items they buy.

heck another problem depending on the country some countries are notorious for people stealing goods out of the mail. when i was living in mexico before i learned my lesson i had my mom sned me some clothes and items, nice stuff. when i got the box my clothes had been taken out and replaced with dirty underwear, newspapers, etc.

on ebay your forced to accept paypal however on my own website where i sell stuff ill accept cashiers checks and let customers know once i ship and provide tracking i take no responsibility for mailing time, lost packages, problems with customs. most customers are okay with this as well b/c im one if not the only one of those in my industry who ship internationally

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: What do you do with printers?
« on: January 18, 2013, 02:23:08 PM »
printers can be a decent garage sale or flea market sell but normally the ones i find dont have the cords and printers are so cheap these days not worth me or anyone else tracking them dwn and buying them. heck i recently ran out of ink and realied it was cheaper for me to buy an entire new printer that came with a free ink cartridge than to just buy the ink cartridge.

i find that fitness stuff tends to sell well year round and sell quickly too. there's always someone trying to get in shape for swimsuit season, get in shape for a wedding, etc.

584
if you dont want it dont buy it no need to be a hater

If you look at the other storage auction education programs out there many people are selling a book for $20 or so with an upsell to some program for another $120 so his pricepoint though more than I would pay isn't that much out of line with others out there.

Also I think Glendon was really smart in making all the youtube videos and everything else he does online. He has kind of built a trust and a rapport with people, he's friendly, breaks things down simply, explians things well and has a personality as well. Honestly if I were in the markmet for something I'd probably buyhis $60 book before I bought some strangers $25 book that may be a vauge book that's just an upsell for some other program.

I'm not the type to buy educational programs whether its buy real estate with no money down or storage auctions all the info is out there for free for you. heck most peopl ewould be fine just reading this site and not payinjg for books or info but some people value someone else compiling and organizing info for them and will pay for it.

I do agree its a bit hgih priced but I don't doubt its selling fine.
