Yesterday I showed him a phone app that lets you sell DVD's through USPS for 50 cents a peice, and they take all DVD's.

The USPS, as in the US Postal Service buys DVDs? Do tell...

Any running refrigerator, regardless of age, will usually sell quickly at $80 on Craigslist. Just compare asking prices of similar appliances for sale on Craigslist, (if there isn't anything similar in your area, expand your search to the nearest major city,) then price yours 10-20% below the average, and your phone will ring off the hook. This way, you get rid of the unwanted item(s) and still put a little cash in your pocket.

That's all fine and dandy if it's sitting in your garage. But in his case it's sitting in the just won storage unit with him unable to move it and he probably only has 24 hours to clear it out.

i went to CL and found some scrappers that are on the other side of a toll plaza/another state.  Can you suggest another place to look

First don't assume they won't travel to you, contact them and ask. Second, try placing your own ad in Craigslist stating that you're looking for someone that wants scrap metal for free, etc., etc.. Then wait and see if anyone contacts you.

Hook up with a local scrapper. Those are the guys that drive around looking for metals to recycle. When you win a unit with anything heavy in it you call him up to come and take it away. It's free money for him, no backache for you, and you get everything else in the unit.

65
But the question is, “Is it worth paying the premium?”

Depends on how much the unit goes for. If the unit goes for $10 and you pay a $1.50 premium then most wouldn't think twice. If a unit goes for $5,000 and you have to pay $750 to a guy that just worked 3 minutes auctioning off the unit, then most would be pissed.

I hope there is an online site that can show the repeat telecast so I can have my fair share of it.

Don't count on it unless you want to pay for a subscription. Just keep an eye out for "The Simpsons, Gorgeous Grampa" Season 24 Episode 14. I'm sure it will be on again sooner or later.

I hear you! I hate when the number of units drops off like that. I'm big supporter of the amount owed on the unit being paid for by the end of the day before the auction. The auction buyer invests time and money to go to these auctions, and allowing tenants that are 3 months delinquent to pay right up to the start of the auction is giving them too much consideration.

eBay / Re: Typical Ebay Dispute with a Buyer..
« on: June 24, 2015, 11:19:19 PM »
I feel that it is really unfair that there is such a dispute option of “Item not as described” which buyers often take advantage of to their fullest benefit.

Come again...are you being serious? I've had at least a dozen times over the past 10 or so years where I received an item that was nothing like what was in the ad. After first going back to the seller and being told basically "too bad, it's close enough" I'll escalate my complaint to eBay. I've even had a couple with the balls to tell me I have to pay return shipping and then they'll only refund the cost of the item and not shipping in either direction...for their error.

Private Sellers / Re: Online auction form - Time to Remove

24 hours for a local auction is fair, but with an online auction the buyer could be traveling quite some distance. Then there's the possibility they have to make multiple trips. That's why a minimum 48 hours seems fair for online auctions. Considering the unit went through 3 months or so of foreclosure, an extra day or 2 for the person helping the facility get their unit back is not a lot to ask for.

Just give a standard 48 hours for all units, it avoids confusion.

Doc, I can't believe Alloro went there. I mean, he literally went there.

I'm sure you expected nothing less.  :19:

Doctor of the obscure and collectible.

So doc, you're saying that you like to probe into deep dark places where people keep their crap?

Thanks for the cheat, but after applying 4.3 seconds of thought, I was able to decipher the enigma on my own.

In that case, I think I'll hold off on calling you a DF.  :57:
