Craigslist / Re: A couple of CL questions..........
« on: February 08, 2013, 10:22:42 AM »
Everyone has their own time they think is "the" time to post.

I've found I get more responses if I post on the weekend.  Friday night to Sunday morning.
Other say early morning so when people get to work......other say about 6pm-7pm as people are getting home and relaxing.

And takes a bit more work but if I have more than one listing I put links to my other ones in each Ad.....

Every item is inventoried, value based on IRS guidelines and I even take pictures.

And really,  my income bracket and low level of deductions?   No red flags.
An audit on me would take all of 15 minutes.  Pretty straight forward return.

Taxes are done with complete honesty in my house.  I'd rather over pay a bit rather than risk it.....

Sorry.   I'm not sure if your post is  a statement or if your asking a question?   Can you clarify?

Generally, Donation Value Guide will be calculated on the basis of deduction.

I have no idea what his means..........

Most of you know I go for units in the city so small 2x3x4 to 5x5x9 units.   Usually never go above $500. And if I get one, to bid on another the unit has to be awesome or really cheap.

So I bring $1000 as standard.   Multiple auction sites or more than five units up for auction then up to $2000.

Few of the sites will allow debit/credit transactions anymore so I tend to carry a bit more cash.

But have found if you show up a lot, not even bid but they know your face, AND you've made conversation, show your cool......they will Orkney with you.

Went to one and I was down to $200.   Nice unit came up and knew it would go for over $200 so BEFORE bidding started went up to manager nd said I was down to $200, if I bid can I put down the $200 and run to cash machine while others paid.   He said okay as long as I paid by noon (it was 8am). Otherwise I lose the unit AND $200 "deposit".

Tried it at another facility and they laughed at me.

It was meant as sarcasm and not towards you MM......

Meaning was if you knew my eBay listings.....heck yeah I'd want you to post elsewhere.  More views, more possible bids....

Tho, I don't post CL ad's here since those are to easy to F with people.   I could just see all the spam thrown at it from someone I may have said the wrong thing to by acident........

Man....does any of this make sense?   Doc put me on a new medication.   Whew!   Fun stuff.....

Please do and post answer.

Have donations this year that won't change much if I deduct them.  Hoping I can use them on next years return.

I miss the old days when they provided coffee & doughnuts.    Now they b*tch if you want to use the restroom.   Doubt a pizza order is gonna happen. :'(

Anyone else notice that facility employees and auctioneers are starting to hate the crowds too?

Seemed to be more social in the past.    Now it's a cluster fu.....

I don't think I can participate in the "Treasure Chest" forum cause anything great I find & post, Movieman will just cross reference it with Craiglist & Ebay & "out" my identity to the public.  ;)

I know what you mean.  MovieMan is an A**hole!

I find good stuff in a locker, list it on eBay/CL and then he goes and posts those listing around the Internet where just anyone can see them?!    Ups the views, possible gets more bidding and makes me money?   WTF is up with that?!

Seriously MM, I don't post listings so people can see them?!   Come on!    ;D

@cobia. I get your point, just some humor here.  No offense intended.......

Flea Markets / Re: Canopies and other weather protection at flea markets
« on: February 05, 2013, 09:13:02 AM »
I wish I would have gotten pictures but guy at market this weekend had converted a horse trailer into mobile store.  One whole side was on hinges on top so when opened it formed a canopy.  Inside had shelving and clothe racks.   Folding tables under "canopy".   Pretty clever and well done.

Talked to him jut briefly but the next step is converting 1/2 of it into a food truck to sell subs, hotogs and maybe pizza by the slice.  And is playing with solar panels but thinks the batteries will be to heavy.

Not saying its not true, but his story was written like he was trying to inflate the reaction of the vendors.
Drama Queen.....

I hate reporters that report "look what I see" stories.  What ever happened to investigative reporting?

Tho here's a little tip.   Want things to sell faster.  Make them look stolen.  People think they are getting a deal.

Had a friend that sold used car audio equipment at swap.  His sales went way up when he started throwing away the boxes and cutting the wires short so they looked stolen......

Anyone know any other way besides eBay and garage sales for shoes and clothes? Would love to find a store that pays (even if just a fraction of value) just to unload it all at once, liquidate, and BUY SOME MORE!

The most I've ever gotten is 1/3 of retail tho......
