Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: How old is Barry Weiss?

I'm gonna say 60-62.

After watching Magic Mike with my wife, I told her that I should get one of those fake weiners too.. She said that if I did, she would divorce me..

663
Could've been worse, it could've been "Boogie Nights" on the tube.

For a punchline my wife getting her rocks off on QVC is funnier than Boogie Nights.. Because it's less believable, or more outrageous.

664
That's how I stand when I have carrots in my butt.. for the health benefits..

I have a list of many women that will argue that point with you! :)

One of my bits from my stand up days.. (keeping it PG)

One thing I will never do again is have relations with my wife with a random channel on the TV. One night we were getting into it hot and heavy. Here I was, thinking I was really rocking her world, the oohh's and aahh's were flying around all over the place! It really was the first time I felt like a real man. Until, that is, we switched positions.. and a lady on QVC was selling a Cuisinart Food Processor..

Craigslist / Re: Some Tips for Listing on cList

While you're both correct, you could tell people to search for those items in your ad.. But the HTML creates a link for them to click to view your products..

I'm all about making it as easy as possible! Because we all know that many out there wouldn't search for your items.. You know, because it's sooooooo hard to scroll up and copy/paste a code into the search field.  ::)

Here's a tip for those of us listing on CL...

Insert this HTML into your listing..

<a href ="http://raleigh.c raigslist.org/searc h/?areaID=36&subArea ID=&query= 43541351819163P648105&catAbb =sss"> Click here to see what else I'm selling on craigslist![/url]

There's random spaces to break up the code so that we can see it.

The long number/letter combo after the query= is listed below. I post this on my listings. You can make up your own and replace it.

43541351819163P648105

Gives customers a quick way to view all your items, creating a CL store of sorts..

Of course, you'll want to change your http:// to your local CL URL. To find this, do a search for anything and copy the URL. Replace your search term with your number/letter combo.

I don't know if I've ever mentioned him on this forum. But Glendon Cameron is a complete joke. He can't string 2 sentences together. I watched one of his videos for about 2 minutes before turning it off. I don't know how anybody can take him seriously. He thinks that just because he peppers in a couple of F bombs, he should be taken seriously. In fact, he's a joke. I feel sorry for those who fall for his scheme and "follow" him. He rips people off.. That's his profession now.

The big secret to being successful is only bidding on what you see and being patient. I'm not afraid to go anywhere because I'm very strict and stick to my game plan. The manager can go in there and pick out what they want.. Doesn't bother me.. because I only bid on what I can see anyway. If I don't see it, I don't bid.

Rule #1AA: Just because they oohh and aahh doesn't mean there's anything to oohh and aahh about.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Great Finds?
« on: May 04, 2013, 07:00:53 PM »
My theory is that the producers of the show make arrangements with local stores and collectors to plant the items into the unit. The winner finds the item, the producers say, "Bring it to this guy, he knows all about it." and the store buys the item back for less than what the show paid for it. Everybody wins.

To answer the original question..

I found a Fine China set in a $25 unit last month. China sold for $500.

Craigslist / Re: You know what I hate most about Craigslist?
« on: May 04, 2013, 06:54:23 PM »
Agree with both of the previous posts. CL takes just as much effort as Ebay. I sell my collectibles on Ebay and my practicals on CL.

What bugs me more is the people who try to trick CL sellers with bogus stories about the value of items..

I had a guy tell me that he could buy a car amp that I had listed on CL for $60 new. I had it listed for $50. I explained to him that I had done extensive research on what the product sells for new and used and if he could buy it new for $60, he'd be doing that rather than emailing me. I sold it the next day for $50 no questions asked by another buyer.

Best thing you can do is form a good relationship with the facility management and employees. Many facilities cut the locks prior to auction day and they get a look at what's in the unit. (around here anyway) Whenever I call to confirm an auction, I always ask the management if there's anything good out there. The ones I have a good relationship with give me the goods. The others I'm working on buttering up. A box of donuts goes a long way!

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Would you try to sell this?
« on: May 04, 2013, 06:44:05 PM »
I agree. Ebay is your best bet. I would sell it, but not with a face to face interaction. I would also put in your Ebay listing that you are not affiliated with any organization nor do you support the subject matter. Maybe mention that you are a reseller and found this in a storage auction. Don't want to put out in the atmosphere that you are a connoisseur of KKK memorabilia..
