Flea Markets / Re: Flea Market Full Today, No Spaces Available
« on: May 14, 2011, 05:59:05 PM »
Luckily it wasn't me but sent a buddy in my place today to the flea market. He had some purses to sell and I normally send some stuff along with him to sell for me and keep a % of profits for himself.

Got there at 6:30 this morning and they were already full. Only way to reserve a space is if you are going to be there every weekend for the full season.

This is bad news for the rest of the summer. Today is about 40 degrees cloudy and rainy and we've known about this weather all week so can only imagine what its going to be like when weather gets nicer.

That truly sucks. I hope I dont run into that problem at my Flea Market.

I hear Miami is the perfect Beach to go to when Single, but I am not sure.

How does one get into foreclosure cleanouts?
As myself, I wouldnt know since I have not done one. I am sure they are listed in the legal sections just liek storage units are. But I am not 100% sure. I will ask my buddy next time I see him.

This is actually kind of scary that this could happen. I can't imagine there's anything illegal about doing this or at least not anything that can be proven illegal since you can't prove someone intended to default, someone could just say "yeah that box used to have gold in it but I took it out",  and how is anyone going to prove otherwise.

Heck if someone wanted to they could even send a buddy to run up the price.

I found it odd they used the word criminal element, doesn't seem to be criminal and that's the scary thing, probably no repurcussions if someone decides to do this.

Actually it is criminal, I just dont see anything happening to the perps for it though. Other than losing your own creditability. Big price to pay for such a small profit, especially now that units are starting to go for lower prices again.

lol, now that is wild

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Bringing customers to my storage unit
« on: May 10, 2011, 03:53:21 PM »
@jrossjr79, that works every time here to.

I took a customer to look at a queen bed, and price was $125.00 well he ended up buying the bed and a desk, and a few other items, total sales from this customer turned out to be $350.00 insted of $125.00

But don't talk to loud about it around the manager's. Many facillities do not want that type of traffic.

Oh I dont, matter fact, seems like the last time I went through there today, they did not seem to happy, but never told me anything :)

Other Forms of Selling / Bringing customers to my storage unit
« on: May 10, 2011, 02:45:38 PM »
Has paid off well. I brought one customer to my storage unit with the original intentions of making a $20 exchange, end up making $30. And then again today, had a customer meet me at my storage facility with the intention of selling one piece for $10. End up buying alot more. Mostly small stuff. But it ended up being $50 worth of merchandise. Most of it which I was having a hard time moving anyway.

done!

Other Forms of Selling / Always looking ......
« on: May 09, 2011, 01:24:20 PM »
I am always looking for some way to sell the stuff I get. I look even harder for the stuff that becomes a pain to move or is near impossible to move. For example. I have been sitting on Silver Plated hallo ware and flatware for damn near a long long long time. Couldnt find anyone to buy it. I finally came across a vendor who will buy it from me. No doubt he is most likely making at leastr 50% - 100% profit from me, but the way I look at it, I finally got rid of it all. And will have a sales channel to get rid of more when I come across it. Roughly about 45 pieces of flatware and 5 pieces of hallo ware. All finally sold for $25. Originally posted for $30, guy offered me $20 I haggled him up to $25. So I am now happy about finally moving that.

Way more money than what my melt guy would of paid, and these pieces were in horrible condition, lots of the silver plating was coming off. So I am happy with the sale, especially since it is getting to be a harder market to sell silver plate. Everyone wants sterling or fine.

Moral of the story is to always look for a way to get rid of things for a profit. Everything has some kind of value, EVERYTHING!!! Even when you find a channel to get rid of things, keep looking, you can sometimes find even better deals.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Craigslist

Jross79 is an alter ego of TC just to find a way to shamelessly plug his site!!!

Only kidding!!!!

Jross, I was just kidding, I'm the same way, if its not just a shameless plug I normally only comment on articles and such when I really have a strong comment, especially with blogs as they are kind of a pain to comment on depending on how they are set up, especially so in blogger.

Also, TC, I'm kidding about the alter ego as well, just having some fun.

LOL, my alter ego is a mix of Dave Hester and the Hulk :)

Flea Markets / Re: That was really a long day..............
« on: May 07, 2011, 07:19:46 PM »
I think we all have better things to do than sit around at a yard sale, flea market or rummage sale but sounds like you got the right idea. Get a buddy or two to go along, have some drinks , have some food, have some fun while your making some money.

I love our outdoor flea market. Great Mexican food, they sell beer as well. If a buddy comes along were sitting arond outside having a few beers probably not all that different than whatever else I'd be doing otherwise. Plus if I get a good spot along the edges where I got some space I normally will take my bags out of my trunk and play some bags as well while we wait for customers.

Its the same here with all our outside flea markets. Great food, beer, just so damn expensive, mmmmm, wonder if they will let me bring my own beer as a vendor (not to sale of course)
