I like to plug things from time to time so I don't have much room to talk but I was laughing when I first read this post. This isn't spam...lol...kinda like saying "with all due respect" when talking with someone. Your basically prefacing something disrespectful your about to say...lol.

I have been better about my inclination to spam though. The old me would have said visit freestorageauctionlists.com but you know what, I'm not going to do that.

lol

lmfao, you just did sneeky :|

BTW TCLANE, I read a few of your post, like what I read, so I will be reading more later on, bookmarked, you should also add a subscription or RSS Feed at the least.

There is a market for them. Not sure how big a market, but it is usually the older plates. And I am not sure how much they pay for them either. I have a person that posted in CL the other day that was looking for license plates, and I have been in several restaurants with old license plates on the wall.

No your not.

Just Kidding.

Why does everyone assume that if you live in Texas you own a frickin oil well and you wear a giant belt buckle.

The only time you will see us wearing western wear is if we are going to the rodeo or to a country music club. I would say less that 5% of the population wear western wear regularly.

lol, I dont even wear that gear even then. I worked the Rodeo at Reliant Park back in 2004, I refuse to wear it even then.

plausible deniability?  ;D
1. That is one of the various reasons. If no one saw it while going through it at the site they dont know I have it.

2. Dont want to run into the previous owner as I am going through the unit.

3. Since most of the time I am moving and cleaning out the unit by myself, just makes it easier and quicker for me to just load it, then over look everything at home.

You could always market the rats as gerbils.

I have a good market for snake food in my area, :)

It varies at every location. I went to one the other day that the facility put their lock back on the unit until you pay them. Most however, you will need your own lock on the spot. It doesn't hurt to have a few on you at all times.

That is what I thought, but didnt want to walk in with my locks on my belt loop like I have been doing and not even need them, pretty much did not want to look out of place. Ya know?

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Sales Tax Question from a noob
« on: May 04, 2011, 04:29:01 PM »

The problem with that theory is that it will eventually catch up with you. It may take 15 years but when it does bite you in the a$$, you will regret not paying your taxes. Especially if you already have considerable wealth. If you own your cars and house and have money in the bank, why risk losing it all?

If you sold your own lawnmower for less than what you paid for it it would be considered a depreciated loss. Plus, you have already payed sales & income tax on that money you purchased it with.

Also, it depends on how you are buying. If you buy 1 unit every week or so and you're mainly doing it for fun, then you will be okay. But if you are bringing in over 10 grand a month like I was, you need to give Uncle Sam whats his before he takes whats yours.

I like to add something to that. You can get all your licenses, permits, name registration, and all. But in the eyes of the IRS, if you are not bringing in X amount of money per quarter, then truthfully this is considered a hobby, therefore not even having to pay taxes on it, other than when you are buying a unit. Check with the IRS, local state and city laws, or a CPA. They can all tell you the details.

I still do the same thing up I posted up above. I dont go through my unit till I get it back to my house. For various reasons I dont like going through it while on site at the facility.

The Lounge / Re: Bin Laden Killed!
« on: May 04, 2011, 02:00:49 PM »
And the conspiracy theorists droan on and on. Bottom line is I hope we did kill him either a while ago or on this raid. I don't care cuz I do believe the world is a better place without some people in it. Not the run of the mill criminals as they should be given due process at trial but criminls like Hitler, Gorman, Saddam, Osama and the like just need killin. It's what the doled out and they should get no less. BTW, Yes I am pro capital punishment.

Saddam was given a fair trial, as well as a live execution. Besides, The US Govt made Saddam, during the Reagan Administration. We gave him weapons, training and help to over throw the dictator of Irag of that time. The way I feel is the only reason we got in the war with Iraq is because he was no longer the Puppet of US Govt and for the Oil. (BTW my father was there in Desert Storm as well). Just like this last war, that stemmed off from 9/11. We invaded Iraq again on the assumptions that Saddam had nuclear, biological warfare, and was helping Bin Laden. Which was all false.

General Storage Auction Talk / Small Town Facilities
« on: May 04, 2011, 01:29:56 PM »
Ok, I have not been much of anything this week because of my son being sick. But looks like I will be going out to a facility this Friday. It is in a small town that is 45 mins out of San Antonio. Sad thing is they only have 2 units up, as it stands right now, so I will be calling them late Thursday as well as while I am on my out there.

But I wanted to know what is yalls opinion on going to a small town storage auction. I am betting that there will be less competition, especially since they only advertise in their local paper. However I am not 100% sure. What do you all think?

Well, calling the facilities in your area is the only sure fire way to find every auction.

Which is why I call all the facilities that are not on the listing I use twice a month.
