Not likely with 48 states still to go.

Ten years or less.....it will be legal everywhere......once the other states see how much Colorado and Washington are bringing in in taxes, they will be all over it!

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Selling items at a auction house

It's always a gamble.  Usually you will make a lot more money just selling on craigslist or ebay, but if you have a lot of stuff you want to move fast or a few particular items that would work with a specialty crowd, it can be the way to go.

I don't know what percentage you pay around your area, but up here, they take 35% right off the top.  So keep that in mind if you are trying to move something fast, you could put your item on craigslist and maybe discount it 20% but still pocket more than you would running it through an auction house.

Also, most auction houses don't want to sell on reserve, so if your $10,000.00 antique buffet with solid gold drawer pulls sells for 100 bucks, that's the way it goes!

The last couple of weeks have been busy.......last year at this time it was slow.  I think I made a couple of the right purchases, got some great kids Christmas gifts and had a little motorcycle that the guy was giving to himself.  Hopefully it keeps going into the New Year like this!

And, finally, my 500th post! Took long enough!

I like both, and I try to set it up where I've got money constantly coming from a variety of sources......too many people have all their eggs in one basket...usually a "JOB", and then they get laid off and they are scrambling trying to survive on unemployment until they get another one.....

I remember those......now I feel old....... :-[

I don't watch it either, but I agree, this is probably going to be a huge boost for them....you can't do anything online without seeing a story about this!

I think he has the right to say whatever he wants, but on the other hand, if you want to keep sucking off the corporate tit making those millions and millions of dollars along with all the hundreds of related product tied to the show, learn to filter it a little bit!

I found a little RG 22 pistol and some imported .380 with no magazine.  A few more rifles and shotguns, but only two pistols.  Found lots of empty Sig Sauer and Glock cases though.......always get that little spike of adrenaline hoping they are in there only to be let down with yet another empty case........... :'(

I used to get gold and silver semi regularly but not near as often now.  Of course, part of that could be due to you can only expect to find it in a small percentage of lockers anyway, and since I'm buying WAY fewer lockers, I don't have as much opportunity to find it.

I also think part of it is the shows fault.  Besides all the people that thought they were going to get rich off buying lockers watching, so were the people that were storing their stuff.  I really believe since the shows, a lot of people aren't putting their really valuable stuff in there, realizing that if they don't pay it will be sold.  So they put the stuff in storage that they figure if they lose it, big deal.

And I posted this a year of so ago, but here's a picture of the best jewelry haul I ever got in one locker......paid $380 for this locker, it was good!

I actually bought a couple of lockers last Saturday.  Had a good sized crowd, but nobody was bidding on much.  Guess it was too cold and they didn't want to have to come back and load out.

Paid $150 for the pair.  One had a weird mix of stuff, but a lot of tools and some nice military clothes.  Paid $50 for that one and should clear at least $300.

Second one had a washer/dryer, small upright freezer, bed, particle board bookshelf, futon (that was NASTY!), two dressers that were both missing a drawer, two more dressers, box of kids books, kids toys, two strollers, microwave cart, three old tv sets and a bunch of kids clothes, and a bunch of World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons books and little cast pewter pieces.

Went through the clothes and kept some of the name brand stuff and the rest went to Goodwill along with the tv sets.  Sold the bed and the book shelf for $60 bucks already, gave away the futon for free and busted up one of the dressers.  I'll make some money on it, but seems like a lot of work for the profit.

As a side note, picking is still WAY better.  Bought a set of 8 dining chairs on Sunday for $20........sold them yesterday for $250.

"If you win the lottery, the first thing I want you to get me is a face lift and a b00b job," said my 49 year old girlfriend as I was checking my ticket.

"Well, actually, the first thing I would do is fix up the car with a new engine and a new paint job", I replied.

"You must be joking! Why would you waste your money fixing that old thing up, you might as well get yourself a new one," she said.

"My point exactly."
