Just bought a unit that had several thousand cards from the seventies, eighties and nineties. While I am not averse to the typical method of selling them via e-bay (already found several are active on Ebay and getting good prices, one already over 200), I also know good and well that I am going to be stuck with a snotload of cards that, to me, won't be worth the head aches.
What are you looking at doing? I can send you an inventory in a week or so, when I get them all cataloged, and see what you're willing to offer.

Will keep that in mind. Just bought my first unit, and had several thousand cards in it, most in mint condition, complete with plastic covers!! Searched several dozen (got thousands, as I said, no way I can search all of them quickly), and found one that is an active auction and already over 200 bucks.
I think I'll make my investment back in relatively short order.

You just need to find the right buyer. You could be on a gold mine, rather than just getting the shaft. Search around and see what pops up.

Most times it can be dirty work but always profitable because you get paid by the asset mgnt company or a real estate agent or by the bank. The other part to profiting from this is to come across a property that still have stuff inside. First you scout the property for scrap metal and take it to the scrap yard and the rest if salvageable you can sell on craigslist, flea market, yard sale or however you want with it. The downside to getting paid is it usually takes 30 days before you see a check, also you should have several others working with you or you will get burned out quickly.
Would love to learn how to expand into that business, Insight. I'm an appraiser in Georgia, and that could be a good supplement to my income.

Good idea to go with the trailer rentals for the time being, if only to find out if you're seriously interested in doing this.
I drive my Sentra to the auction, (I stay within an hour of home), and if I buy a unit that is rather large, I simply then go home, get my truck and drive it back. Does it cost more? A bit, but if I don't get a unit, I'm not out ten bucks each way in gas.
If I get a load of stuff, I'll rent a trailer. If I get a huge unit? Then I'll shuck out for the bigger U-Haul (which I'll use to go to the local dump with the first run to dump the trash, then take the rest home with me).
Always make sure, if you're going out of your county, to know where the local dump is, the hours of operation, and costs.
Nothing worse than going to a boondock landfill and find out that they are closed, even though they are supposed to be open, and then having to drive thirty odd miles in a DIFFERENT direction so you can unload in a different county.

Been out of this for quite a while, and even previously I just dabbled. Decided to get back into it, and am doing that. Bought my first unit this past week, and am working to get the money off it. Go by Ben, but hey, nice to find a forum of people that do this and know it.
