Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: Storage wars - Mary

Do you mean to say that not everyone from Texas goes to California to buy a storage unit, then rents a truck to haul it back home? :)

What the truck she was driving, she'll be able to pull a flat-bed with a few pods on it.

Savings in labor = $100. Cost for her meals = $30. Waking her up at 6:00 AM to go clean out some storage units. Priceless!  :celebrate:

Complaining -$200, No Action for a week - $500, Making fun of you if it's a dead unit -$250, Making you sight see and spend extra $$$ - $150

78
But you had to drag your wife along also, for at least 6 hours of her time... What is that worth?

79
So you have to factor in gas for 200 miles on a round trip in the car...

Just curious, because seems like less of a headache to rent for  1 way, when you can do roundtrip and it probably doesn't cost that much more.

80
So how do you get away with the one way rental, when some place is 100 miles away?

81
How much did you pay for the uhaul?

82
It really depends on the unit, but for the most part it'll need to be a special unit..

If you're one of the lucky few that have a 17 ft box truck at your disposal (They would be more inclined). Truck Rentals aren't cheap you're talking about $250-$300 round trip to rent one (best case scenario), so you'll have to tack that on to your costs.

It'll be hard for me, I don't have the set-up to load anything larger then a 5x10 stuffed in one trip.  Locally, the size doesn't really matter to me, I can make multiple trips.

eBay / Re: Typical Ebay Dispute with a Buyer..

I still don't know the outcome yet, I'm not even sure he escalated the case to ebay. Every day now I check, hoping I can just hit the close button on the case for the owner not responding to the last message sent.

On your blog page that you rank #2 to storage battles you should change the title, to make people click on it.

Seeing this:
Storage Facilities – Are You Losing 20% by Using Storage

TO:
Storage Facilities – Lose 20% by Using Storage Battles

OR

Online Storage Auctions - Save Storage Facilities 20%

OR

Online Storage Auctions saves Storage Facilities Money

Not only that, only the best of the best sites rank in the top 10 for the search term "storage auctions."

See Attached, I typed in your website name when I started testing my new site OnlineWebSiteAppraisals.com and I rank #22 without even trying :/

Your site  rank #13 when I do a search on my PC for storage auctions.

Hammerdownauctionsinc.com ranks 10,11,12 (auctioneer site)

StorageTreasures  ranks 1, 2

Auction zip is 3,4

Cubesmart is 5,6

Google ranks based on GEO location and well HammerDown does South Florida Auctions, Auction Zip does too and also CubeSmart. (All these places are close to me)

In SMF you can run on diagnotics and see the page load times on each page on the bottom..

Their are different levels of detail, so you can see where the bottle neck is..

Take a look at my site phphelp.com you'll see the page load times on the bottom.

If mine are faster then what you have, then you have an issue, because I have way more topics.

87
They are probably just going down the list, to the next highest bidder after you. You should of just said, I'll take it for $150 and see what they said.

In the market place section, you can probably turn "Ebay, Craigslist, garage Sales, flea Markets. etc" into sub-forums.

You seemed to de-railed the thread a little, but I'll go in your direction, as you are applying my general comments about being successful in business towards your specific business model. I'm giving everyone words of wisdom, those who delay or take then time, the entire world just passes them by.  Don't be afraid to try new things and don't let what psychology of what you think "Google" thinks, affect your decisions. You're not a mind reader and even if you were, "Google" changes it's mind a lot. And businesses that depend on another sole entity to survive is just a bad business.

I don't disagree with you, about ownership, by all means do what you think is right by yourself. I watch ABC Sharktank a lot, it's a good show and this is what Kevin O'Leary will say. If you approached him at this stage.

"I can buy a domain name, toss up an online auction site and and do a little SEO magic and I will be in the same position that you are in, in about 30 days. What value are you offering? There is nothing special about your concept, you have no measurable sales, no proven track records, what am I buying with my money? The answer is Nothing, I'm Out"

Just food for thought.

Slow and steady wins the race.  ;)

Not in business - Tell that to the investors of your company and watch how the stock dives.
