Okay I found gold tonight.  The stuff on the left is not marked but it is gold just not sure of the caret. The little bag is marked 22Kt $95 the earing inside is marked 90 so must be 22K, the pile next to it is all marked 14K or 525, the necklace on the left is marked 750 so 18K.  The little pile on the top is all marked .925 so sterling silver.  All of this was in a small purse in a bag like it was packed last. This was from the unit that sold for $150.  I was already counting myself in the black on that one this means I will make good money on it.

These 2 Watches were in the bag with the purse. One a Wenger is Swiss not great value the Movado may be worth somethign if it works and if it is real could be fale. Neither is running.

Back to the sorting I have not finsihed the $150 or started the $50 unit. Pretty well done with the $175 and feel I will make money on it. Got the lift chair a CPAP machine a lot of other good stuff including some air Jordan shoes.

dr...

Do you have a Carson City silver dollar or two ?  I sold one a couple of years ago for $72 at the flea market. Wonder what the going price is now?

Nope have not got one.

Last night I found two old Roman coins that must be the oldest thing I have found.

Any prospects for Washington? While I like going to the auction s in person I would be up for trying the online business it woudl give me an opportunity to see more places.

Do they ever pull a unit from auction because the owner came and redeemed it?  I have seen this a lot at live auctions where a payment is made while the auction is going on.  Oce the bidder had paid it is over and the unit belongs to the biidder till then the owner can pay it off.

Most valuble piece not counting cash.

Probably a tie

1) Complete set of the Warren commission report from the gov printing office in the original boxes one unopened. Shipping address was the state department. Sold for $2125 on ebay.

2) Sterling Sivler tea set weighs 70 ounces.  Have not sold it yet.

Most cherished items.  Real silver dollars I love finding them.  I do not find many maybe 5 in the last year.

Most usefull items, Tools of all kinds I have anything you could ever need.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: got a biggie today.

Wow what a deal!  It seems people are turned off by really big lockers but I like them because there can be some really nice stuff hidden in there. I think that you will make out very well on that one. I could see one that size with what is showing going for over $1K on a good day I bought one that big for $40 once and it was a bust then again it did not look nearly that nice.   $325 is pocket change these days I bet you make a couple grand off that one.

Update: finished moving all the stuff.  As we were cleaning uot the last unit found out from the manager that it was a old woman who had hiring professional movers to mover her stuff in.  Only rented about 4 month. Found one of those chairs that pushes you up and it looks pretty nice.  Furniture was all junk got about 40 boxes and 20 bags to go through yet. Always a good ding when pros moved it in means she still had money when it went into storage. Hoping her jewlery box is in there full of gold.  It took tow very full loads to empty the unit.  That is a lot of stuff!

Great day sold the Vita mixer for $150 and the tools for $125.  This has turned into a good locker not spectacular but at this rate I will double my money.  I thought I was paying to much at $325.

Ahh gotcha, didnt mention that before :)..

Personally though, I would contact them, and see if they are going to give you anything in return for it, if not Id sell it to someone else. May be morally wrong, not sure on the legalities on it. But that is what I would do.

Well that would set me up for a possesion/sale of stolen property the way the law reads in WA not worth it I will just give it back. have returned a lot of UHAUL stuff in the past like carts and blankets normally new looking that says right on it not for sale.

On that rug doctor, what makes you think it was stolen? It is a commercial piece of equipment, but on the lower end. The tenant may even had a cleaning business. My father in-law use to own one when the family was cleaning commercial buildings.

Because it says right on it Rental unit. Probably rented from Safeway then not returned.

Looks like some nice stuff worth the money.  Let us know what you find.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Getting attached to items
« on: August 31, 2011, 11:56:10 AM »
I have kept lots of things mainly tools I wanted anyway.  I also keep things like silver dollars as I hoard them anyway. I have outfitted an entite Rec room in my house with a futon, TV, table w chairs and bookcases all from various storage units.  Net cost to me is nothing so I think I am money ahead saving things.

Public Storage will not hold an auction if less then 5 people show up.  Thier rules but state law requires nothing I am aware of only that it be sold at public auction.  Fewest I have ever seen is 8 people most about 50. It is great when few show up then the auctions go faster and prices are more realistic.  At the auction with 8 people I got a $1 unit that was not bad and 2 other units as well. Most was $180 and I found $160 cash in that one and lots of other good stuff.

Okay I worked till 9:30 tonight hauling stuff.

This locker was $150 a 10X15 outside unit. Hauled three huge loads and got it emptied. Best thing I have seen so far is a 3 ton garage jack.  Lots of boxes and bags to go through think i will make money.

The jack:

SOme nice rubber maid trash cans

Lot of big boxes these were hard to move.

What a load looks like the Expedition is cramed full inside as well. Hauled 4 of these tonight.,

Here is the unit he paid $175 for it is  a 10X10 packed better then the $150 unit. Have not started on it. Note the stolen rug Doctor in the front.  Have to find out where it was stolen from and return it.

The other unit a 10X15 we emptied in on e load and my camera had dead batteries. It was $50 very cluttered but it had a washer and dryer showing.  They will be scrap as the dryer had the back off.  It was a very good deal at $50 there was a nice looking aricompresser a Royal typwriter and a Cheap sewing machine.  Lot of stuff to go through yet I am sure that I will make money on this one the washer and dryer will scrap out at $20 to $30.
