I know we talk alot about Storage Wars and Auction Hunters, but there is a less famous guy out there on the internet selling books about the storage auction business and telling stories and giving advise on YouTube. Any of you buy the books or a membership to his blog? Do you think it's worth while?
Hey Glendon, are you on here?
I would only buy units that the manager would let me inspect with the tenant & manager present. During the payoff, the tenant signs a release & a contract which transfers the unit and all it's content into my name. I put my own lock on it and have it insured, that way if the tenant did try to get his property back without paying me off, I could file an insurance claim and possibly even make more money than the unit was worth. It could work, there is a market for everything. The key to this would be establishing a relationship or a referral program with the facility managers.
We've had that problem up in the Seattle area at a couple of different facilities. It's lead to a couple of lawsuits and lot's of hard feelings. Even if it's not technically "illegal", it is surely not ethical!
Went to the auctions today and good news!
The number of people attending is down a little bit, but the bidding is down a whole lot! I don't know if this is a new trend, or just a fluke occurance because we had real bad storms in our area last night and yesterday, but most of the regulars seemed to be there.
Only one unit went high, above $800. I think one regular was trying to "run up" another regular and then a newbie jumped into the fray not knowing what was happening. The original regular just stuck it out and got the unit.
All the other units went for $10 - $275. I did'nt win any because i'm am all out of storage space right now.
Obviously I wouldn't do this and its stupid as damaged credit will cost way mor ethan the little bit you could make but were just joking about doing that.
yeah that is good. one question, why did he keep washing his hands throughout the video? lol
Hi jrossjr79,
Thanks for sharing! I printed your information out and when I get the furniture cleared out of our garage, I may use some of your ideas. I really appreciate it! Healthe
