General Storage Auction Talk / Regarding the legalties..............
« on: April 26, 2011, 02:10:53 PM »
Ok, here is the scenerio, I dont have any licenses or permits what so ever, so I cant do Flea Markets yet. My neighborhood is not a good location for traffic on yard sales. CL is slowing down, Ebay I refuse to use anymore as a buyer and as a seller.

So my question is, do I need a sales permit to rent parking lot or sidewalk space in San Antonio, TX and resale my stuff there. I have over $1,000 worth of stuff in my inventory right now. As well as my on hand cash is starting to run low.

Good thing is this weekend I am setting up in a rummage sale. :)

I do resales pretty much FT, but I also contract myself out as a handyman, especially with Trim Carpenter stuff like cabinets and doors. But also do decks and lawns. Here soon I am going to start hauling trash.

Wow, they've got it sewed up at 95%.

Here's the link for people close to San Antonio.

Ya unfortunatly, but I do love the ones that post in other places and not use The Hart Beat. Tend to be fewer people there.

I have one The Hart Beat, and it is only because over 95% of the facilities here only advertise with them. Some seemed really irritated with my phone calls. However I think all that will change and I will dump The Hart Beat because of the Amendment of Chapter 59.

The Treasure Chest / Re: Safes and what they contain

It's comical how crazy people get at an auction when there is a safe in locker.  The bidding gets outrageous on the hopes and dreams of riches.  Rationality goes right out the window.

yup, but it is why I value you the unit on what I can see, and depending on what I dont see (like boxes totes and everything else that keeps things under wrap) I will gamble another 5 - 30% more on my original value of the unit, and not exceed that when bidding. Has worked for me so far.

I have had a hard time with CRT TVs and autographed memorobilia with out a C.O.A.

849
Least I have paid was $35 mostly arts and crafts stuff, an Atari 400 (not complete), and a vintage stackable washer and dryer.

Most I have paid so far is $480 (if I had the cash on me at the time I would of paid over $1000, but thats another story). That unit there was some furniture, sports memorobilia, and golf clubs. Also the unit I had gotten 5 locks with keys out of (brand new)

Standard deposit here is $50. Some facilities wil put a $100 block on it though. So if I bought 1 unit it would be $50, or if I bought 3 or 4 or 5, or how many I get, it will be only $100. Came across one that has no deposit and no tax (loved that one).

851
I usually have them tested right then and there to make sure it works. However on larger appliances, especially washers and dryers, I give them a receipt and let them know if it does not work they have 30 days to return it to me and I will give them a full refund.

So far no problems doing it this way.

852
I got first aid kit stuff, paper towels, TP, cologne, a few tools I decided to keep, garbage bags, and some toys I kept for upcoming Bday and Xmas for the kids. Hell I even got a new box of 6 locks with keys.

853
I have limited storage space, which I hope changes soon. So I am inclined to make my money with certain items which I hold firm on price, even some furniture. But for the majority of the rest, especially the the common stuff, I try to get rid of as quickly as possible.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Mattresses in Units
« on: April 26, 2011, 01:12:51 PM »
If I see anything good in there as well, I will go for it. I have a guy who will pick up mattresses and boxsprings, and un wanted furniture for free.

855
I would check and clear the guns --- then sell them if everything comes back clean, if not, I would give them over to the authorites.

Drugs I would just dump (why risk my investment on this unit)

Cash - shhhhhh :)
