I'm with Travis.. Suicide is the cowardly way to "face" your problems. In fact, you just leave all your problems to the people who love you. I have no respect for anyone who commits suicide. I guarantee that whatever problems he had, it would have been better to deal with them head on, like a man, than leave them for your loved ones to clean up..

You could get yourself a multimeter. There's lots of "how to's" online to testing power without access to a power source specifically with appliances. You could also lug them to a used appliance store, you may make a sale without having to put the work into posting ads, meeting people, etc.

Everyone has their own time they think is "the" time to post.

I've found I get more responses if I post on the weekend.  Friday night to Sunday morning.
Other say early morning so when people get to work......other say about 6pm-7pm as people are getting home and relaxing.

And takes a bit more work but if I have more than one listing I put links to my other ones in each Ad.....

The best time to post really depends on your own local craigslist.. How busy the category you're posting to is and when. This is why there are differing opinions on Craigslist post times. My advice is to post consistently. Craigslist allows you to repost every 48 hours.. (I believe). If your item doesn't sell, repost often!

I've found that in the Raleigh area, if I post in the late afternoon, the others posting slows a bit which keeps my post on the first page longer. Also, make sure that your title and body text has lots of search terms in it. For example, if you have a stroller you want to sell, put the brand name and "stroller" in the title at minimum (Graco Baby Stroller) In the body, include words like carriage, buggy, etc. Include as many keywords as you can, because you never know what someone else might use to search for their product. I usually leave a keyword trail at the bottom of my post.

I found those after I posted my question. Sorry about that. I had been on the site for about an hour and a half and couldn't find any posts related to distance.. I guess I just wasn't looking in the right spot.

Good point. The inventory is constantly changing. But I did some keyword research for "raleigh thrift stores", same for surrounding towns. Same for "raleigh yard sales" and surrounding towns. The terms are searched about 500 times a month on average with the larger cities (Raleigh, Durham) being searched much more. All those keywords have low competition, so I could potentially hit the top of the mark in my area and drive good local traffic. The only issue that I'm trying to overcome is that people will not want to purchase a used item off the internet without seeing it in person first. But then again, Ebay processes tens of thousands of sales a day..

Hey Mike! Great to meet you! I know you like to big hard and fast on things you can flip right away, but I'd like to know if you bid solely on what you see, or if you take other factors into consideration. Factors like neatness of the packing, the types of boxes/bins used, writing on the boxes (kitchen, bedroom, etc.). Does this factor into your bidding at all?

If so, what of the other factors, besides what you see holds more value to you?

Hey guys! I'm new to this board, but not necessarily new to storage auctions. I had done it before the shows started, but stopped to go back into the workforce. After realizing how much I hated the "corporate" life, I'm back at auctions!

One thing that I'm considering pursuing is a webstore dedicated solely to my storage auction finds, mainly the smalls that I find and can easily ship. Does anybody have experience selling their items this way? Any successes or failures with this method?

My thought is, if I set up a website to sell my stuff, and post a link to that webstore onto sites like Craigslist, etc., it's a much more professional experience. Maybe? No?
