Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Barry Weiss Spin-Off Show ?
« on: June 12, 2013, 11:59:14 AM »
The rumors that Barry may be getting his own show might be a little exaggerated considering when the news first broke. The link below is from March, 2012 and the one below that was the casting call in August, 2011 !

Remains to be seen if Barry can carry the weight of a whole show…..”What are you worth?”  ;D

Weird & Wacky Finds / Re: Want To Go Bowling?
« on: June 05, 2013, 07:16:50 PM »

If you really want to do some damage, a hollow point .38 snub nose would be about the best for home defense.

I've shot a six-inch S&W from one end of my garage to the other with a shot-loaded shell (the blue-cap) type. It filled an 18" square piece of plywood with a nice tight pattern and in the semi-dark (like a bedroom might be) it made a nice bang and flash too.

A shot like that would dissuade most prowlers (if they got that far) and the next round (or the round after that) could be something stronger.

In the middle of the night, groggy from sleep it might be better to let off some small pellets of shot at that dark figure in the doorway.  Sometimes innocent people get shot in those situations.

I was wondering, what is the source you are using for this data? Maybe a URL...

Thx

Looks to me like info might have been gathered from multiple sources and then COMBINED into a spreadsheet and published as a whole. But, as we all say....I could be wrong !  ;D

Edit:

One can use Alexa or similar places to get the rankings. Note that in the spreadsheet shown in this thread they all have virtually the same page ranking; something like eBay would have a page ranking of 7 based on the search terms used to find its ranking. (ebay.com)

Link below is for searching the ranking based on the name of THIS website. Do that one at a time and you could get the info on all the sites in the spreadsheet shown here, and as I said there are many sources you can use to gather that info. The link below is the "lite" version of this data.

ranklite.me/www/storageauctionforums.com

Here's the one for ebay:

ranklite.me/www/ebay.com

Here's the one for google; which gets a page ranking of 9

They also interview the person I call "the birdlady." She's like 6'3" with feathered hair. They refer to her as a professional. Buying a few units every month does not make you a professional.http://www.kcentv.com/category/170056/video?clipId=8911598&autostart=true

The "birdlady" is shown in the 2nd photo above.  If one buys a few units every month for years does one qualify as a professional, or does one have to start a few websites ABOUT buying to be considered a professional?  ;D

Travis,  Hopefully we can all get together in the future and laugh about all this.  I would like to grab a drink and discuss this during the Texas trade show. Would you be willing to sit down and discuss?

Hard to turn down that invitation. I'd love to be at the table as an observer.  ;D

As of 5:45 am on Wednesday, 6/5/13 he had three auctions showing and they were spread between central and southern California. He's moving around to get started and obviously his personal presence WOULD be a draw for a crowd, but if he does get up to 10/15 a week he would have to bring in some help to cover the state (or states).

Can't fault the guy for making a success of his personality on the show and beyond (whether one likes him or hates him). On the other hand it must be hard giving up that big stipend for doing each show.

Picker's Paradise / Ranch Sale #1...junk and treasures
« on: June 04, 2013, 09:33:15 AM »
Recently I went to a ranch sale (May 29,2013) and got there about 2 pm on its first day. There was a ton of stuff and only about 5 people wandering around. I only bought a couple of things that first day, but went back the next day and made a couple of major scores as they had brought more stuff out...sometimes it pays to go late !

The pictures below were taken the 2nd day
.

Why did this guy need 200 screwdrivers shown above?

No kitchen sinks, but plenty of bathroom sinks.

Need a bolt?

How about a jack?

There were twice this many chain saws on the first day.

Here’s what they sold for:

Wall of leftovers: $40
Boat Motor: $5
Locker: $5
Princess Stuff: $230

Based on your estimates of the prices (for your areas) a couple of you are wishing you had been here !

The gal who got the leftovers got a lot of good stuff for that price even though the individual boxes didn’t bring $5 a box at the time.

The boat motor….guess there were just no rebuilders there. That locker was rough and people probably figured mechanical stuff didn’t work, but still. I know nothing about motors like that.

The locker was dusty, oily, etc.  The aluminum painter stand (forget what you call them) also went for $5 as did the pair of car ramps. The locker itself went for $5 !

The Princess stuff; I thought I would go $150 and hope to get maybe $300 but a gal and I were duking it out so I just took her for a ride as I could tell she wasn’t going to stop. I quit at $225 and she got it for…..$230.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: my craziest storage story by far
« on: June 01, 2013, 07:00:24 AM »
See it here in half a dozen or more videos.

Good thing it wasn't a child or some one with a heart condition  who accidentally discharged it.

I would be happy to reply to #22 above if I had been able to wade through it all, but I wasn't so I won't .  ;D

Let the battle of the "titans" commence.

Sounds like you have done a lot of planning and organizing on paper.

Makes me wonder how I have gotten along for the last 10 years without a barcode scanner.  ;D

I have a 10 by 25 with roll-up door at each end and with shelving, but beyond that your organizing far outweighs mine.

With that 6 figure income keeping you busy how will you ever have time to implement these plans?

Don't know if this particular article has been posted here before as I don't follow the online scene as much as someone like Travis would, but if it has, he can direct us to an already exisitng link...  OTHERWISE...here's some dope on the pros, cons and LEGALITIES of this "trend."
