Stories about Storage Auctions / Auction Scene #6...June, 2013
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:06:39 AM »
Hoping June will be better !

Maybe the hot weather in many parts of the country will weed out some of the folks who don't want to WORK and who just want to open that dresser drawer and find 10 gold necklaces !   :-[

May has been another total dud.

Yep, a total bust. But considering I hardly go to any auctions anymore that's not a big surprise for me at least.

And as calcoastgal said PICKING has been great.  I missed two auctions on May 30, 2013 because I dove 45 miles to an estate sale which paid off big time....buying pieces has been the savior for my monthly income as compared to regular storage auctions.  On that same trip  I hit 6 thrift stores and made some good buys there too.

HOWEVER, I will continue to start the montly AUCTION SCENE threads hoping for that day when I will have good positive reports on the local scene, and I know some areas are still having success at regular storage auction efforts...these tend to be in the BIG cities (or metro areas) where there are a LOT of auctions going on, thus increasing the odds of scoring a good one.

See you in June !  ;D

Don't mind the grumpy people, you won't see their hateful stares while you're putting your lock on the unit.   ;)

If you think this guy will every buy a unit you need to have your observational skills sharpened !

Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: Barry's Auction Angels

They won't be back. They are like the different car each episode. In fact the whole look of each new episode is just experimenting to see what might work or to add some splash to anotherwise "over the hill" show.

Movie Man..you're right,my post here towards her was way too personal... Sarahwhatever please accept an apology.. sometimes I like to rant

Well, I wouldn't pass judgement on what you said. You don't have a personal agenda, I know that. Neither do I. I just like seeing the facts come out on both sides and letting people make up their own minds about what is "right".

Travis is representing his efforts.  Sarah is expressing her thoughts about that and Travis is expressing his thoughts about SB. Sarah may or may not have a real attachment to SB or not, I don't know. If there is transparency toward all concerned that is a start toward understanding by those who have no attachment to either side.

My presence here started before Travis was ever involved (by a month or so) and continued through a time when he took significant time out before he bought this site and made new efforts here and in other areas. My interest is in the buying/selling and reading about what others are doing with auctions, picking, selling, flea markets, eBay, Craigslist.

Let the good times roll.

Rolling along....

Here is a link to the SB auction listings within 100 miles of Sacramento, CA which is my area.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been deleted yet, but maybe it isn't personal enough. Let the good times roll.

Give it time. In the meantime, if it bumps the exposure of this (or any other) website, it will have served some purpose in its life !  ;D

And....

Here is one that is currently running in the same city (as of 5 30 2013 at 7:00 a.m. Pacific time.

See my next post for more on Sarah.

Check this out.  This might be her locker which she posted on SB.  Can't tell for sure. It sold for $100 after many bids.

unethical - "not conforming to approved standards of social or professional behavior".....

Steve….

Some here (including Travis) would disagree that my philosophy is that HONESTY is the best policy, but in keeping with my idea that people should be allowed to make their own decisions about what EVERYONE posts.....

See the link below (reply #12) for a copy of sarah’s original post in that thread. It is a copy of her original post which she may or may not have deleted herself.

I didn't delete it.

I just found it in the labyrinth of the Canadian wilderness.

With apologies to our leader.  ;D

Looks like this thread is taking the place of a thread I started a week ago about the show and cast.
It was probably deleted because it mentioned the unmentionable name of "S......T....com"  or was it the Am.... Auc... blog ?

Here's the story from Huffington.

Check out this flashlight thread from the past.

This one is from April, 2011 (2 years ago).

Check out reply #13 when you get to the link above: see anything familiar? Only the pic name has been changed to protect the "innocent".

Here’s another one posted in August, 2011

Flea Markets / Re: Flea Market Flip !
« on: May 28, 2013, 02:28:04 PM »

That damn thing you would have a hard time selling here for $20 no matter how nice.

Yep, markets vary in what will sell and what won't.

In pointing out this tv show I was trying to encourage people to get IDEAS about how items could be re-purposed or spruced up.

Only an individual working with such items and taking into account what they might go for in his/her area can decide if the effort is worth the return. One has to discount the TV show aspect significantly.
