Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Unit Overload

Awesome, there is no reason to let those units go. I have had on occasion to pony up some extra money to store the units but it has always been worth it, especially at those prices.

If its a big chip/rip/stain I will disclose and normally include a picture of that area so they will know exactly what they are in for with no surprises. If it is general light scratches and normal wear I'll just sum it up as "some light marks and wear'
That about sums it up for me as well.  I am even more careful on the Facebook garage sale groups since some shoppers will put up complaints.

But that is what separates the pros from the newbies.
I am still a newbie and have to constantly remind myself a penny saved is a penny earned.
I have been taught a couple of expensive lessons, not so much by money but by the time spent cleaning, processing, and selling junk units.
Anyway good job showing restraint.

Ok here is a little better video.

Travis
We found a brand new Turbo Grill from BBQ Galore, retails for $1099
A Viking lowboy fridge
Uni Line stainless steel Ice maker
2 other ice makers
another new appliance I don't really know what it is.
It's a great facility for me because I know the manager and I usually have extra time to clear it.  I also rent a unit out of there so I have time to sell the items.

I paid $450
There a ton of Viking parts.

Here is a youtube video I took with my phone.  I did not move anything.

I have a history of overpaying.  My limit for this one was $450.  I am a chef so I know that Viking is a great brand.  Curious what you guys think

Great story!!!!  It's funny though, I guess I always pictured you as Estevez :)
It is smart using that little space to keep cost down.  I have been looking and the rent is pretty high here in the Dallas area.  Nothing works if you don't make money.

Craigslist / Craigslist Scams
« on: November 05, 2013, 08:22:02 AM »
I have been selling a lot more on Craigslist lately or at least been listing a lot more on CL.  I have run into a couple of scams and one scary situation.

My question is what scams are out there?  I know not to accept any PayPal payments to ship of course but what about Trojan ads.  Are they just phishing for email addresses and phone numbers?  You see a lot of ads of to good to be true and I have yet to get answers from them.  Thanks again

General Storage Auction Talk / Buying locker from locker renter
« on: October 21, 2013, 06:52:52 AM »
I make it a point to get to know a lot of the storage facility managers and maintenance guys. I was called by one of the maintenance guys and put in touch with an locker renter with money problems.  '

She gave me a sob story about having no money and needing to move to Iowa.  The locker had some nice furniture, tons of household boxes, and an ugly couch.  Its a 10x20.  She wanted $500.  I told her to get all the stuff she wanted out by tomorrow and I will make her an offer after I get the ok to take ownership of the lease via the storage manager.  She says she has till the end of the month and I can verify with manager Monday.

The furniture consist of 2 dovetail dresser drawers that were in good condition, 2 matching night stands, and chest with a mirror.  I am learning but have little experience with antiques.  The furniture is solid and looks to be in great condition.  All the drawers move well and like I said a couple of the pieces have dovetail joints.

I am going to offer her $200.  Just curious if any of you have gone through similar situations.

Craigslist / Re: Real or not real

Did you noticed the obscured view of the specs on the MacBook.  I buy and sell Macbooks via Clist and Ebay and this one set bells off.  Its not a bad deal if everything works well.

Is it like this
http://www.qvc.com/qvc.product.E223655.html?item=E223655&ref=GAS&tpl=detail&cm_ven=GOOGLESHOPPINGFEED&cm_cat=Electronics&cm_pla=Video%20Games&cm_ite=E223655-000-000&CAWELAID=1919421043&catargetid=600006460000295814&cadevice=c&cagpspn=pla

If it is like that I usually throw in a 27' tube tv and sell everything for $100 and take $8

I usually value the Wii at $40 and each controller $5 then each games at $5.  I add $20 for the TV.  I have even went on Clist to find Wiis cheap to add them to the TVs I have specifically for garage sales

If it has the Wii Sports play that first.  I remember when the Wii first came out I volunteered at a couple of Senior Centers and we had Wii Bowling night.  It was a blast so if those old folks can do it ......

Wii still has a good value.  At garage sales I have connected it to an old tube TV and sold it as a set.
